  1. Today is my one year post op!! How this year has flown by!! I am so incredibly happy I made this decision for myself, and wouldn't change a minute of it. Today I sit in my office 90 lbs lighter, 6 sizes smaller, healther, and happier than I've ever been!! I can run on the treadmill now and not feel like I'm going to die or my lungs are going to burst, I can sit on a plane without spilling over into the other seat, I can cross my legs like a lady (even on the plane!!), and I can wear a swimming suit in public with my head held high! So many things I was afraid I would never actually do!! I will forever be greatful for this gift and second chance at life! It's crazy to look back at pictures and videos of myself a year ago and see how much I've changed physically. My self confidence is 100x what it was, and I'm not afraid to put myself out there anymore. The mental changes have been even better. I still have days where I'm not perfect, but I don't crave all of the junk I used to, and it's so much easier to make smart decisions on a daily basis. Working out has still been my weak point...but I'm working on that. I know that this will be a lifelong fight for me, and I can never go back to what I used to do, but my sleeve has been an amazing tool and I will always appreciate what it has given me!

  4. This has been an amazing journey! I'm 11 months into my sleeve and down 90 lbs. I still have 20 lbs before I reach my goal, but it won't be long before I'm there!! This surgery has changed my life!! I'm happier, healthier, more confident, and know I've bought myself many more years with my family and friends!
  5. I was sleeved July 28th and I am so happy with my progress! I'm down 83 lbs and still losing at a steady pace. I started at 262 lbs and am down down to 179! Crazy to think I'm only 30 lbs from my goal weight! I'm 5'5.5" and before surgery I was a size 22/24 in bottoms and XL in tops. Now I'm a size 12/14 and M/L. My body has changed a lot, but I've also changed a lot mentally! food no longer controls me, and I don't even like some of the foods I binged on before my sleeve. I still need to work out more, but getting on the treadmill and running at 5-6 mph isn't nearly as hard as it was 7 months ago! I'm training for my first 14er here in Colorado this summer. I can't wait! Here are some pics of me before surgery at 262 and today at 179

    ONEderland!

Getting below 200 lbs has been one of my goals my entire adult life. This week, I finally got there!!! A little less than four months post surgery and I'm down to 197 (down 65 lbs)!!! I am so excited! I'm more than half way to my goal weight of 150, and I can't believe that another 6 months from now I could totally be there! I was also finally able to buy my first Lululemon hoodie, which I bought to celebrate this huge milestone. I am sooooooo happy I had this surgery and how it has changed my life! This week people outside my close circle started to comment on my weight loss. People who work at my hospital, teachers at my daughter's school, even the checker at our grocery store all started complementing me. It felt really good to have people notice! We're leaving for disneyland in 5 days and meeting up with some family who don't know about my surgery yet. I can't wait for them to see the new me in progress! I'm also excited about flying on a plane without all the stress any worry about spilling into the next seat! Anyway, thanks for all of the support, and I hope everyone has a very happy thanksgiving tomorrow!!!!
  9. What I started with... What I ended with... Hahahaha!!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
  10. I couldn't be happier with my progress!!! I had surgery July 28, 2014. I'm 5'5" and started at 262. I'm currently 205. Soooooo close to ONEderland! Life has been great. Food no longer controls my life, I can go upstairs without being completely winded, I'm starting to shop at "normal" stores, and I'm loving the changes I'm seeing in my body! I had my three month post op last week and my surgeon brought up the topic of reconstructive surgery! I plan on going for a consultation once I make my goal weight (150 lbs) to see exactly how much money I'll need to save. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my decision to have gastric sleeve surgery. It has already changed my life in so many great ways!! Here are a few pics of my progress. The first was taken in 2009 when I was about 275 lbs, and the other picture is me pre op (262 on 7/21/14) and then at 3 months post op (11/2/14).

    3 days post op

I was about 5-6 days out before I really started to feel good again and could drink without feeling really uncomfortable! By a week out, I felt great! I'm almost 3 months out now and it's life as usual (except 50 lbs lighter and enjoying the restriction my sleeve gives me). Give it just a little more time, and you'll be doing much better! Congrats, and good luck!!!

    WHAT? I gained weight!

I'm wondering ifaybr it's a combination of things: gaining muscle, retaining water, and not getting enough calories. I know that when I'm working out Nd not getting quite enough calories the scale stalls! It's frustrating as all heck! Maybe try increasing your fluid intake and increase calories to 1000-1200/day and see if it helps! Good luck!!!

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

Forgot to add a pic! Here's me preop and then last week (11 wks out):

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

I'm about 3 months post op (sleeved 7/28) and I'm down 51 lbs total. I am so happy!! I've never lost this much weight before. I've lost almost 20% of my starting weight. I noticed last week that I can make it up the stairs at work without feeling completely winded and my lungs burning (I only work on the second floor)! People are really noticing a difference in me physically. One of the girls who works in my office to me the other day "you're getting smaller every day!" I have to admit...I'm loving the complements! I no longer have any dietary restrictions but am trying to really watch my carb intake. I still love carbs, so I know that is my weakness and I need to stay I'm control. My husband and I just bought a total home gym, so now we have that, a treadmill, and an elliptical. I'm excited about working out more and toning things up. My goal is to get to onederland before we go to Disneyland in 6 weeks. I know I can do it!!!!!

    Lasik after sleeve

I have strongly been considering LASIK eye surgery for a long time and have saved up the money to have it done. I'm scheduled for my sleeve in just over two weeks, and I'm wondering if the extreme weight loss could effect my vision at all. Maybe a silly question, but I wonder if somehow the weight loss changes your prescription, for better or worse. If it doesn't effect it at all, I may look at having LASIK done during the four weeks I'm off for the sleeve, since I'm already out of work. If it does change it, I may need to weight quite a while until I get closer to goal. Anyone have any info or insight on this? I plan to ask my surgeon as well, but often find all the answers here in these boards! Thanks for all the help!
  17. I finally bought my first Victoria's Secret bra! I've been trying not to buy much in the way of new clothes, but today I bought a smaller bra, and some smaller pants and blouses for work! I'm down 33.2 lbs so far (I'm 5 weeks post op today) and things were starting to get big enough that they looked funny! I'm so happy with how everything is going!!!!!!! Here's me back in April vs. now.

    Sushi

I had sushi for the first time post op. It was delicious!!!! I missed sushi. I had the crab naruto roll (it has no rice and is wrapped in cucumber). I was able to finish about one and a half pieces. I also had one piece of tuna sashimi. I have more than enough left for lunch and dinner tomorrow, lol!

    Sushi lovers !

I had sushi tonight. I'm almost 6 weeks post op and on regular diet (save for grains). I got the crab naruto roll which has no rice and is wrapped in cucumber and I also got some sashimi tuna. In all I ate about 1 1/2 pieces of the roll and 1 piece of the tuna. It was amazing

    A LIL BUMMED

Hey there! Sorry to hear you're down, but you've come to the right place! . This site always raises my spirits!! I'm also a month out. I was sleeved July 28, and have also lost about 30 lbs, which I'm so excited about! I went back to work this week, and luckily is was a great first week back! I've been getting about 60g of protein per day and am not drinking any shakes. Usually for breakfast I have either an egg (hard boiled of over easy) or plain non-fat Greek yogurt sweetened with equal (1/2 cup yogurt). Lunch normally consists of some lunch meat and a baby bell light cheese, tuna, grilled chicken, ground turkey with a little shredded mozzarella cheese, or cottage cheese and lunch meat. Dinner I've been having ground turkey, grilled chicken, I made a cauliflower crust pizza one night, tilapia... Snacks are usually a hard boiled egg, yogurt, cottage cheese, or some peanut butter. I've been coming in around 600 cals per day, which I'm trying to increase a little since I work out too. Luckily I haven't had too many down moments, but when I'm in a little funk or missing things like carbs I come on this site and browse the success stories. I also think about how 6 weeks ago I was 262 lbs and now I'm 230 lbs, feel better, and finally can see a difference in my body! I get excited about the continuing changes and how when we take our daughter to Disneyland in December for her 5th birthday I'll not only fly on a plane for the first time in my adult life without worrying about spilling into the next seat, but I'll get to wow the family members who are meeting us there and don't know about my surgery yet! I hope you feel better soon, but just remember we're here to support and celebrate you!!!

  23. Tomorrow I'll be four weeks post op, and I couldn't be happier with how things are going! I'm down 30 lbs (including pre op week) and am really starting to see a difference in my body! I'm back to work tomorrow, which is kind of a bummer, but I'm looking forward to getting back to a routine! Hope everyone is doing well!!! HW - 262 SW - 249 (7/28/24) CW - 231.2 (8/24/14)

    Breakfast at work

I'll be returning to work on Monday, and was wondering what most people take for breakfast at work? I work in a medical office and have access to a fridge and microwave. At home I've mostly been doing either Greek yogurt or eggs. I love the eggs, but don't have a way to cook them, and I'm afraid reheating will make them tough. I'd love some more ideas if you have them! Thanks!

    Happy 1 month to me!
