I was banded at Caritas Norwood Hospital by Dr. Adam Glasgow. I was surprised at how good the nursing care was at this hospital. I felt like I was the only patient on the night shift when I was having such issues with nausea and dry heaves. Dr. Adam Glasgow is in practice with his Dad, Arthur Glasgow. They seem to be very caring doctors and the office staff is friendly and helpful.

I tried scrambled when I first started the mushies. Scrambled was fine, so I figured I'd have a plain omelet - just eggs & skim milk. Big mistake. The consistency difference caused a pb. Yuck. Be careful.

What's the last thing you said to your surgeon just before your LB procedure?!
Sue Magoo replied to UN5-3051's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't remember what I said, but I remember what he said just before I went into the o.r. He came into the room where they were prepping me and he was at the foot end of the stretcher. He held both of my feet and said "I'll take good care of you." That was comforting. high 324 surgery 7/26/07 287 post surgery 296 this morning 272 -
WHAT FOODS GETS STUCK or give you problems?
Sue Magoo replied to Raven5683's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a big issue with tunafish. Only ate about 1/4 cup, but everything got stuck, resulting in major shoulder and neck pain. I'm never having tuna again! -
A contiouns pain in neck and shoulders
Sue Magoo replied to sarujah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had shoulder and neck pain so severe last night I called my doctor. It was really bad because I had gotten tuna stuck and had way too many pb's. He told me to go to er and get xrays. They took chest xrays and did a ct scan. They gave me morphine which just made for alot more pb's. Anyway, got through the night and it ends up that I wasn't noticing the signs that I was full and my esophogus inflammation was somehow causing the shoulder pain. Now i'm on all liquids for a few days again. Hope this helped! -
I gained after surgery too - nine pounds! I was crushed about it, but it came off in about week and it's gone down more since. My high was 324. I was banded on 7/26 weighing 287. On 7/29 weighed 296. This morning I was 270! Down 54 and very happy about it, just a little anxious about not having any energy yet.

What the heck is PB - and anyone with shoulder and neck pain?
Sue Magoo posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi. I was banded on 7/26. Things are going pretty good. I've had some issues with solid foods, but I keep on trying. I had to laugh when I was reading about "slime". You don't know what this is about until it happens to you. What does PB mean? :confused:I'm guessing it means to throw up, but I'm not really sure. Can someone please help this newbie so that I can understand the lingo? Has anyone out there had issues with shoulder and neck pain? Even though I'm almost four weeks out from surgery I've recently started having shoulder and neck pain. The pain is almost like the pain after anesthesia, but goes up to my neck too. I think it might be from hurling so much since I started trying solids. I've hurled as much as three times in a day, but now only once a day, a couple of days didn't hurl at all. Please let me know if you've experienced this shoulder and neck pain. Thanks. -

Donna: I found out what the shoulder and neck pain is. My esophogus was causing it because I was eating too much or too fast, not sure which. Had a horrible episode of shoulder and neck pain last night. Called doctor he told me to go to er and have chest xrays. They did chest xrays and then ct scan. Pain in shoulder was so severe they gave me morphine. Ends up it was because I had too much tuna fish. I had about a quarter of a cup! Anyway, now I'm on plain liquids for the next three days. I just need to pay more attention when eating to feel the full before it becomes overfull. Thanks for responding. -
Did your doctor take a picture?
Sue Magoo replied to cazulay's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My doctor also took pictures, but they're in my file in his office, not for me to keep. Some of this might be the doctor "covering his butt" to show that everything is where it should be. -
Headache That Won't Stop!!
Sue Magoo replied to REDGIRL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you gave up caffeine, that's probably what's causing the headache. If you can have caffeine, have some. If doctor says no, the caffeine headache should only last a few days. Over-the-counter headache medicine should help. Good luck! -
Hi. I got my band on 7/26/07. I had a hiatal (sp?) hernia. My surgeon repaired the hernia when he put the band in. Doesn't seem to have been any more difficult to recuperate from. Good luck!

Hi. I'm a new poster too. I got banded on 7/26 in Massachusetts. I weighed in at 287 and now I'm at 273.5. Funny how those half pounds really matter. I was shocked when my weight increased 9 pounds from Thursday morning surgery to Saturday morning with only having liquids. Doctor told me not to worry because I was retaining fluids. It took five days to get rid of those nine pounds and it's gone down slowly since then. I told the doctor on 8/6 that I was getting hungry. He told me to start solids, but introduce them slowly. My first meal went okay, but had alot of problems since then - vomiting & sliming (didn't know that was what it was called until I read messages on this site). I'm still having difficulty, but not at every meal. I'm probably eating too fast, or too big of a bite. I got a baby spoon to help me on the bite size. I think it's important to remember that we didn't put it on overnight and it's okay if it takes a year or two to get rid of all of it.
