I was on liquids 10 days or 2 weeks pre-op. No need for the yucky colon cleansing the day before surgery. Good luck. Sue

Being Banded in the morning!!!!!!!!
Sue Magoo replied to moonshadow2468's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Moonshadow2468: May you be casting less shadow soon. Quick recovery. Sue -
Hi: Unfortunately I have one of those common weight loss side effects - gall stones. I'm going to have my gall bladder out in April. I hope it weighs 10 pounds! Other than that, I was really tired the first three weeks, but I think that is common with any surgery and healing. I've also become a shop-a-holic because I outgrow clothes pretty fast. Best wishes to you to have that "clothes falling off of me" problem. Sue

Tim: Congratulations! You look fabulous! I was banded two days before you. I've lost 115 since I started dieting on April 23rd, and I weigh 209 now. Congratulations again. You are looking good. Sue

Becca: I had to laugh because I can so relate to this bath issue. I haven't taken a bath in about six months because of the "cold tummy" issue. Now that I'm down near 200 I think I'll try again. Thanks for the laugh. Sue

Bea1128: When the bigger clothes are too big to wear get rid of them - donate them. You'll see. You're never going to need those big ones again. Congratulations and best wishes. Sue

Requesting help finding a surgeon
Sue Magoo replied to WillBSkinE's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi: If you go on the Inamed website and look on the lap band page there is a section where you put in your location and they'll tell you where the lap band trained surgeons are for your area. Good luck. Sue -
Saying GoodBye to SIZE 20's FOREVER!!
Sue Magoo replied to Kristin1031's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kristin: Congratulations. I know how you feel. On surgery day I weighed 287, and now I'm at 209. I was wearing 26/28's last April and now 18's. Can't wait for 16's, 14's, and 12's. Later this year for both of us. We're both right around the corner from Onederland. Hope to meet you there soon. Congratulations again. Sue -
If you like crystal light give Diet Snapple Peach Flavored Iced Tea a try. I love, love, love it. Hooked on snapple. Sue

Mrsflipflops: Have you called your doctor? Is it possible your gall bladder is acting up? I hope you get it resolved soon because I know it's lousy to be nauseas. Good luck and keep us posted. Take care. Sue

Congratulations on your 30 pound loss. I'm almost 11 months post op and if I try to stretch too far or bend too fast my port area is slightly bothered, but hardly at all. You are probably not fully healed yet. Sue

Joe: I used to have pain and numbness in my left upper leg. However, I had it before surgery. After I lost about 60 pounds it went away. It could be that you're walking funny and positioning your body different because you're protecting your sore tummy. If you're still concerned about it, please go and visit your doctor to get piece of mind. I hope it resolves itself soon. Take care. Sue

Bridgette: You might want to speak with the insurance coordinator at the surgeon's office that you're planning to use. I have BCBS of MA and the insurance process went smoothly, but my bmi was 50, so I don't think they cause too many hiccups when someone's bmi is so high. Good luck. Sue

What were your incisions closed with?
Sue Magoo replied to faithmd's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Lee: I noticed that you had gall bladder surgery. I'm scheduled to get gall bladder removed in April. Any suggestions for someone who already has a band and is now getting gall bladder out? Had no complications with band surgery except nausea. I'm guessing there's no way to avoid that with the anesthesia. Band surgery was very easy recovery. How does the laproscopic gall bladder removal compare to band surgery? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sue -
chl: You might notice that you have an issue with energy the first few weeks after surgery. I'm pretty sure that it has to do with your body sending alot of energy to the healing parts and ignoring the rest of you. It comes back after about a month or so. I have more energy now than I've had in 20 years! Yippee! Sue

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
Sue Magoo replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations Laura. That's such a great accomplishment. Sue -
sweetviolet: Too funny one of your goals is to get dressed from the thrift shop. I live in MA and last year they opened a new Salvation Army Store in my town. I'm hooked on it. Last weekend I got a new sweater - maroon and nice - only a size L (yes, no X), and it was only $1.99. I look forward to going each Saturday to pick up new bargains. I've already bought things in size 20, 18, 16, 14, and 12. Right now I can wear the 20's and 18's. Can't wait to wear the 16's, but I'm probably a month away from that. I've already bought three new winter coats and each of them was less than $5.00 each. Each week I go to that store with only $20 and always walk out with at least 5 things, usually more. My Daughter cracks up when I come home with bags full. Enjoy the shopping and the weight loss. I know that I do. Sue

Hi all! I'm very excited to say I weighed 209 this morning:thumbup:. Some of you are like, eewwww why is she so excited. I'm excited because I started this journey last April 23rd and I weighed 324. So, I'm down 115 pounds in just under 11 months. I'm hoping to be able to say I'm in Onederland by April 23rd. See you in Onederland next month. Gotta go walk off dinner. Sue

OH Juli: Congratulations Juli. Can't wait to join you there. Sue

Dave: How's the trykke going? I'm gonna have to get my gall bladder out soon, but as soon as I'm done saving for that copay ($500) I'll start saving for trykke. Still hoping to get a trykke by June when the Cape Cod Canal is a great place to exercise. Wish me luck! Sue

Those with BCBS of MA how much did they cover?

Problems using the bathroom after 2nd fill!
Sue Magoo replied to hazE24's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Haze24: I noticed a very different situation in the bathroom once I was banded and it continues today. In the old days when I ate way too much I would have a bm every day, sometimes more than once per day. Now I go only once or twice a week. I'm guessing it's an issue of volume. I don't get belly aches very often so I don't worry about it. If it's more than a week I take a mild stool softener to get things moving along. Good luck. Sue
