Moe: I think it can vary based on your surgeon's requirements as well as your insurance company's requirements. You may want to ask the surgeon's surgery coordinator if they know how long it takes for someone with your medical insurance plan. It took me 3 months from my first visit with the surgeon. I had to have a number of appointments/preliminary tests in order to get approval. Good luck. Sue

Moe: Always love to see Red Sox fans on the site. Hope all went well at the seminar. I'm going to the Red Sox game today - yippee! Take care. Sue

KristyLynn: I've heard that the Water retention is the first thing you lose and that's why weight loss is so much faster at the beginning. Good luck. I have alot less water retention now than I did 127 pounds ago. I can remember my joints aching from Fluid and now they don't. Take care. Sue

Luscious: Sounds like alot of fun. I think one of the things that will help us maintain our weight after we're at goal is finding an exercise that's so much fun that we forget we're exercising. Right now I'm trikking and loving it. I'll keep your post in mind for the winter when I cannot trikke. Keep up the good work. Sue

Massachusetts Bandsters Chat
Sue Magoo replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cheri and Cindy: I totally agree with it getting harder to lose. I've been playing around with the same three pounds for a month now. It does get a bit discouraging. I think it's important to focus on all accomplished so far when there's a lull in the weightloss. I try to think about the fact that I can wear size 16's instead of 26/28's. I also try to think about how much younger I feel - about 20 years younger! I also think about how much better shape I'm in physically. I was able to ride my trikke/and walk for almost 2 hours at once today. So, try to focus on the positive, follow the bandster rules, and we'll all get over the plateaus and to goal. It's a war, and we've won alot of battles already, but we have more to keep fighting.:woot: Take care. Sue -
My first NSV! Share yours as they happen!
Sue Magoo replied to HarleyGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone: Yesterday somebody called me "The Incredible Shrinking Sue"! :biggrin2:That was so nice to hear. After that she asked me if I was done yet, because she thought I shouldn't lose much more. I still have 37 pounds to goal, so that was nice to hear. Someone else told me that she was worried that soon I will be thinner than she is. Another one is that I actually have muscles in my thighs! The inside of my thighs are soft and mushy, but the front and outside are getting firm. Yippee. Must be the trikke doing it's magic. Keep sharing your NSV's. Sue -
Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
Sue Magoo replied to kimmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Numbrgirl: I asked the nutritionist that same question and this is what she told me. I asked the question based on 1200 calorie diet. I think she's full of crap  because I told her I didn't think I could possibly eat that much fat, protein, and fiber and still keep my calories under 1200. She said that I can. I haven't been able to yet. Carbs 150 grams Protein 60 grams Fat 40 grams Fiber 25 to 30 grams So, I'm sharing what she said because she's a licensed nutritionist. Good luck. Sue -
Thanks for posting this CJ. My last stretch was 9 days without a bm. I've tried prunes, miralax, stool softeners. I have diverticulitis, so it's not good to go so long between. I'll bring it up with my surgeon when I have my check up end of June. I look forward to seeing everyone's responses. Sue

Ok I received the confirmation call today.....
Sue Magoo replied to mstrina27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MsTrina27: Best wishes for your successful surgery tomorrow. Hopefully you'll be feeling like I did in a month - "best thing I've done for myself in years". By the way, I have a Ms Trina for a Daughter. She works as an assistant school teacher during the summer while she's in college, and the kids all call her Ms. Trina. Let us know how you're feeling. Remember, it is surgery, so you need to rest, relax, and recuperate. Take care. Sue -
Kat: Wishing you well on your plastic surgery. Enjoy your vacation with friends, but rest up too so that you'll heal well. I look forward to reading your post-surgery posts. Take care. Sue

Hastings: Glad to hear that you love your trikke too. I don't know what's considered good or bad. I don't fall off, and I have fun. Sounds good to me. I cannot do hills, don't think I ever will. I noticed today that I'm actually building muscle in my thighs!! Under all of that loose skin lives some muscle that's getting toned. Yippee. I think I love my trikke even more now. LOL! Sue

Nonni: Right where you belong, Onederland. Congratulations. Sue
-
Freebird: I hope you love your trikke as much as I love mine. I feel kind of crazy about how much I enjoy my trikke. This morning I woke up and heard the weather today and right away I thought of going on my trikke today at noon. I actually rode it at noon and again right after work. Be careful, and make sure you where a helmet at a minimum. You might want elbow and knee pads too. Have fun! Sue

Were you informed about PS before you were banded?
Sue Magoo replied to Dr. Schulman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Dr. Schulman: Have any of the bariatric surgeons ever consulted you about placement of the port to reduce scarring for those who might want to have a tummy tuck after they are at goal? What is the best place? Just curious. Thanks for answering our questions on the forum. Sue -
Travelling after one week of surgery
Sue Magoo replied to sunflower00's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Sunflower: If you can take a nap each afternoon you'll be okay. Otherwise you'll probably be exhausted. I was even though I was on an at home vacation for first two weeks. It's also hard to stick to all liquids unless you're not eating socially for a while. Take care. Sue -
Rainer: I've seen your full pics on the before & after thread. I would have sworn that you were under 200 already. You look great. You'll be there before you know it. Take care. Sue

renewed hope: I got so excited when I hit Onederland and since then I've been see-sawing back and forth 199, 200, 199, 200. I'm hoping that I can push it down to 197 so that I don't kick back up to 200 ever again. Congratulations on 193. I'm jealous.:wink2: Sue

Hi: Because you've had a kidney transplant I wouldn't mess around. Call your surgeon today and ask the expert for advice. Good luck and I hope that it turns out to be nothing serious. Take care. Sue

I am considering the smaller port lap band..anyone any luck with it?
Sue Magoo commented on kathy@accent's blog entry in Blog 38512
Hi: I asked at surgeon's support group why they don't use the smaller port. The surgeon said it's alot harder to do a fill on the smaller port, so he doesn't use it. He puts the port under the rib cage in the middle, so it's unlikely that anybody will be able to see it. I'm down to 199 and nobody can see mine, though I can feel it inside. It's kind of reassuring that I know it's always there along with my band - my belly cop. Good luck. Sue -
Anyone with a 4cc band? Please help
Sue Magoo replied to weightwatcher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi: Are you sure you only have a 4cc band? I have one and I'm only up to 1.8 in my band and I've had it for 11 months. Don't feel badly if you have a 4cc versus one of the bigger ones. I've been told that it is easier to keep at a good restriction level than the bigger bands. I think it took me 3 fills before I got restriction. I cannot remember what that was, I think 1.25. Good luck. Sue -
Aubrie: My doctor recommended that I have FF yogurt, or a piece of fruit, or something like that at about 4 o'clock because I told him I was so hungry by the time I got home I'd eat the butt off a dog. He said that it's not good to wait too many hours between eating. Try having a healthy snack and it should help you stay on plan. Congratulations on your loss and exercise habits. Sue

Jaymie: I don't know how many calories it burns, but I know that I get my heart rate up over 120 usually when I'm riding it. I also can get sweaty when I'm on a longer ride. I'm here in New England, so it's hard to find someplace long and flat without alot of bumps or small hills. So, I spend a fair amount of time walking and pushing it too. I got a bunch of sore muscles at first too, so I'm guessing that it's using muscles that haven't been used for a while. Good luck. The sun is shiny today so I'm looking forward to a great trikke ride today. Take care. Sue
