Frangipani & TexasBecky get Reconstructed
Sue Magoo replied to TexasBecky's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Karey: I know that you didn't ask my opinion, but here it is anyway. You look faaaabbbbbuuuuulllllooooouuuuuusssss! I would spend that plastic surgery $$ in ten or fifteen years when you want to get your face lifted. Like me, I think you may be struggling with feeling 20 years younger, but waking up with a middle-aged body. I know that I feel 20 years younger too since I've lost 147 pounds, but we need to remember that we're "middle-aged". Yipes - there I said it. We are middle-aged. It's normal to have some wrinkles and some soft spots. Do you remember hugging your own Grandparents and feeling bones, or did they feel a little bit squishy and warm? It's time to be a little bit squishy. I hope that you can find some peace with your beautiful:thumbup:, average-sized body. Take care. Sue -
Steve: Sorry to hear about your ms. My sister has MS and she's only had one episode. She's been on copaxone for a year. She has to do daily injections, but she's had marked improvement in the numbness and had only one bad episode. Best wishes to you. Sue

In pain and having trouble keeping things down
Sue Magoo replied to thewired1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi: I would recommend that you call your doctor's office. They probably have someone who can answer your question with expertise. I had a similar problem and my doctor told me that I needed a small unfill. It helped. Please go to e.r. if the pain is extreme or if you cannot keep liquids down for an extended period of time. Dehydration can be a big problem. I hope you feel better soon. Please keep us posted. Take care. Sue -
Hi: Make sure you buy only one when you first try it. It made me gag it was so awful and I had bought a half dozen of them. I hate wasting, but I don't dislike anyone enough to give them away! But then, different strokes for different folks. Enjoy. Sue

Hi Everyone: Is anybody else out there trikking? I just love it! It's so much fun that it doesn't feel like exercise. I'm toning my abs, butt, and legs. I think it works a bit on the arms too. I can get my heart rate up to the 160's when I'm working hard at trikking. It's way more fun than walking. Check out these websites and you'll see what fun it can be. www.trikke.com, www.trikketampa.com, www.trikketalk.com Love my band:wub:, love my trikke:wub:, love weighing 148 pounds less than 17 months ago:wub:. I feel 20 years younger and have the energy to prove it. If you're looking for something new, give it a try. It's really a blast. Take care. Sue

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
Sue Magoo replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
bestarcher: Congrats to a fellow MA loser. I'm 6 pounds from goal and I've lost 148 pounds since April 23, 2007. We're the same age too. Let me know how you're doing with maintaining your goal. What's your trick? Please let me know if anything changes once you hit goal. Great job! Sue -
karen123: I haven't used Faulkner, I went to Norwood. If you're interested in going a bit south of Faulkner, Norwood Caritas hospital worked out well for me. My surgeon is Dr. Adam Glasgow. He is the weight loss center director and he's fabulous. He is partnered with his Dad, Dr. Arthur Glasgow. They run a very good program - skilled, caring, efficient, and good post surgery support. Their office staff is great too. Best wishes to you. If you want, look them up at www.glasgowandglasgow.com Take care. Sue

single mom, 1 kid, what will i cook?
Sue Magoo replied to MISS.SUSAN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi: I have a trikke with air tires now. I started with a knock off trikke with polyurethane tires. The polyurethane is supposed to be easier to learn on. However, I'll probably never ride on them again. The air tires are so much smoother. With the poly tires you can feel every bump and crack in the road. With the air tires it's smooth sailing. You can try going on the website www.trikketalk.com and see if there's anybody nearby that has one for you to try before buying. The people there are quite friendly and maybe somebody has one of each for you to try before you buy. Best wishes to you. Sue -
Just discovered a new method for "unplugging" stuck food!
Sue Magoo replied to stinaNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi: I've found that while in a sitting position bend over and reach as far as you can forward. It helps something get unstuck. Take care. Sue -

Ad Normal EKG, I'm so scared :O(
Sue Magoo replied to Guene's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bobbie: Glad they found it by running tests, and not by some other way. Hopefully this will just be a little bump in the path to being banded. Take care of you and your heart and then battle the weight. Best wishes to you. Take care. Sue -
single mom, 1 kid, what will i cook?
Sue Magoo replied to MISS.SUSAN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Susan: I can't answer to your question re cooking. I hardly ever do! I can respond to your question on rollerblading. Take a look at trikking. WWW.trikke.com I bought my new one at trikketampa. I am loving it, and it's so much fun that I forget that I'm exercising. It works muscles that I never knew that I had, but now I can actually feel them under my blubber! Good luck with the banding. As far as eating the right stuff goes, it takes alot of planning to eat the right things at the right time, but once you get into a routine you'll be fine. Best wishes to you. Take care. Sue -
Kat: I love both hot and iced coffee made with fat free french vanilla cream substitute. Yummmy. It will save you a few bucks for new clothes by making it at home. Best wishes for your lap band success. Sue

started eating solid foods... have a question
Sue Magoo replied to Missprdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is one thing I could never give up - coffee with fat free flavored cream. It keeps me sane. Nobody wants to be near me if I had to give up coffee. -
Hi: I'm not sure about machines that can hold the heavy weight. However, walking outside will do the same thing. I find that I get alot more out of walking outside than being inside on my eliptical. Good luck in your weight loss journey. Sue

Is it possible that your blood sugar is getting too low? The muscle cramps can be caused by low potassium. Please do talk to your doctor about these problems and they can suggest a fix. I hope you feel better soon. Take care. Sue

started eating solid foods... have a question
Sue Magoo replied to Missprdiva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi: I'm guessing that it won't do any damage. I think that you're not experiencing the full/restriction feeling because by drinking and eating at the same time you're washing the food through the band. If you are extremely thirsty it's better to drink something before you eat than after. However, it's best just not to drink and eat together. I hope that things go well for you. I found it hard at first to schedule everything to happen at the right times because I'm a coffee junkie. So, I decided that I will drink coffee from 7 am to 10 am and then have Breakfast at 10:30 or 11:00 am. Best wishes to you. Sue -
angcal26: Hi there. You are not alone! You may find this to be a faded memory sooner than you think. Pretty soon you'll be out trying on new clothes and hanging out with your friends and doing lots of things that normal weight people do. Keep that in mind to get you through the difficult days. It gets much better when you can eat solid foods and feel restriction. Until then, keep your chin up, and positive thoughts. Oh yeah, the sugar free popsicles. I like the one's that are called "Life Savers". They saved my life in more than one way! I'm addicted to popsicles now though. Take care, and do it one day and one pound at a time. Sue

Hey Moe: Your loss seems to be adding up great! Congratulations. Go Moe and of course, Go Red Sox! Sue
-
Liz: You can get the Protein powder at GNC nutrition stores. They're all around. I know there's one in Norwood. Good luck. Sue
-
Mergatroy: I'll be your band buddy. I live in Norwood, MA. Banded 7/26/07. It's been terrific so far. I believe that exercising with the band is the best way to get the weight loss moving. LEt me know if you need help on specific topics. Take care. Sue
-
Ezma: What a great accomplishment! Congratulations. If your Mom wants to buy you new clothes, why not ask her if you could have them in the form of a gift certificate that you can use now or later. I bought mostly used clothes while on the way down. Second hand, clean after washing, and they're new to me. Best wishes for your continued success! Sue
-
lizbit: Congratulations on your new band. I hope that you feel better soon. As far as the Protein goes, did you buy a Protein powder that can be added to things? That's what I used when I was worried about protein. If I recall correctly, soft boiled eggs might work. How about some mushy vegeterian baked Beans? Where did you get banded? I was banded in July 07 in Norwood by Dr. Adam Glasgow. Things have gone very well for me. Best wishes to you. I hope that you grow (shrink??) to love your band like I do. Take care. Sue

Carly: I've always been a very hot sleeper too. It's gotten much better since I lost a full person. Best wishes to you. Sue
