Storage of Smoothies & Protein Shakes

How about a little insulated cooler bag and one of those blue things that you put in the freezer? Best wishes with your band. I love my band! Sue
  2. Josie: Glad things went so well. I know you'll be in loopyland for a while. Rest, relax, and recuperate. Take care. Sue
  3. Josie: Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock. You must be so excited! I'm excited for you. I'm jealous too because you're getting your boobs done too. I don't need mine lifted, I need them filled with implants. I've had an issue with Lobular carcinoma in situ, so I'm not gonna mess with them, but I'm still jealous! God bless and take care. Look forward to seeing your posts later in the week. Sue

    OH Juli's Plastic Surgery

Hi Juli: Sorry to hear about your continuing seroma and drainage issues. Do you recommend putting a waterproof mattress pad on the bed until the drainage is done? Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with all of us. It's so helpful to those walking down the ps path after you. I love my band! Sue
  5. Hi Josie: Yes, I started taking the extra Vitamin C already. Lucky you, away from the rain in the Northeast. It gets kind of depressing when the sun doesn't shine for four days. I've been divorced for 4 years and haven't been ready to look for a new relationship. So, haven't had any cute panties in a while. I bought a couple of sets of matching bras & panties. My daughter will take before pics this weekend - yipes! I've got a list a mile long for things I want to accomplish before my tummy tuck. It's dual purpose. Makes me get things done and keeps me so busy I'm not as anxious. Best wishes to Josie on 5/11! I love my band! Sue
  6. Josie: I am excited for you, and will be having positive thoughts for you all day 5/11. I'm passing along best wishes for a successful surgery and a fast recovery. I look forward to seeing your postings. By the way, my lap band doc said to help with tummy tuck healing take some extra Vitamin C supplements and to keep up with alot of liquids. Stay ahead of the pain too. I think I'm going to have to keep a chart to keep track of all of the meds while I'm in loopy land. I think my daughter will be around for the weekend, but after that I'll be on my own. She was funny. She asked me who was going to empty my drains. I looked at her, and she said "Good thing you have a sister nearby!" Ha ha. I know she'd do it if she had to, but I may be more comfortable having my Sister do it anyways. Take care. Sue

    Ask Dr. Schulman...

Hi Dr. Schulman: Thanks so much for answering all of our questions. There's no doubt that if I was in NY I would have had a consult & tummy tuck with you. But I'm a Red Sox fan living 20 minutes from Boston. Are there any restrictions for sleeping after tummy tuck surgery? I am a side sleeper and am wondering if that's going to be okay during my recovery period. Please let me know. Thank you. Sue

    Massachusetts Bandsters Chat

Luv2Teach: Sounds like you are too tight. Liquids only today and then see how it goes, but I get tighter on the second or third day than on the first. If you can't keep liquids down call for an emergency unfill right away. It's bad to be too tight! I hope you feel better soon. Sue
  9. Congratulations! You make it sound like a piece of cake - ooops - a small piece of cake! I'll be joining you in the flatlends in 9 days. It's so good to read such a positive posting. I hate taking pain meds, so I'm going to try and switch to tylenol asap after surgery. Enjoy that flat tummy and share pics when you're ready. I love my band! Sue
  10. Check out Jachut's picture on her profile. She looks great in a two piece bathing suit and she said she's not had any plastic surgery. Most aren't as fortune as she is. I love my band! Sue
  11. Josie: Thanks for sharing the details. Best wishes on your biopsy. I had terrible bleeding issues so I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago. Found out from the tissues they removed that I had a condition called adenomyosis. I would have had to have my uterus removed eventually. It's #2 to the lapband as far as things that I wish I'd done sooner. I got a recliner about a month ago. Today I ordered a bed wedge from JC Penney. It was on sale for $30. Should make bed more comfortable too. I'll be thinking of you on 5/11. I'll be looking for your update when you feel up to it. I already bought some matching panties & bra so that I can take before & after pics. I'll probably post them, but we'll see. Last night at support group I asked what would be helpful for healing. They said hi Protein, and take extra Vitamin C. Best wishes to you on your surgery. Take care. Sue
  12. Hi: I'm officially scheduled for abdominoplasty on 5/14/09. I have my pre-op with surgeon and also with hospital next Wednesday. I feel great. My questions are concerning the pre-op for the hospital. 1. What do they do for this pre-op appointment? 2. Should I start taking Iron or anything else to make sure my bloodwork is good? I take a daily multi-Vitamin and Calcium now. 3. I read somewhere that you should start eating a banana a day two weeks before surgery. What's that for? Oh, another question. I've had recurring rashes under my apron. Is it a problem if my rash is there on surgery day? I use lotrimin often, but it still flares up occasionally. Any and all advice welcome. Thanks so much. I love my band and hope to soon love my flat tummy! Sue

    Hmo ins carrier

Hi: My HMO approved a panniculectomy only. However, I'm paying for the increased time in the o.r., surgeon, and anesthesiologist so that I can get a full tummy tuck. I had issues with rashes under my belly. My lap band doctor took pictures, as well as the plastic surgeon. It took about 2 weeks to get the approval. It was worth all of the embarassment of having these pics taken because I'm saving about $12 - $14k. Good luck. I love my band! Sue

    Gall Blader Surgery

Hi: I had my gallbladder out almost 9 months after banding. It was day surgery and it was a piece of cake. The pains went away and the recovery was easy. My surgeon said I could put it off, but it could become emergent (spelling?) if I had an attack again. I've had no aftereffects from the gallbladder - no change except pain gone. Good luck. I love my band! Sue

    thick saliva anyone?

slimcityhereicome: First you have to visit slime city. I can even slime from drinking liquids too fast or too much at a time. I hate sliming, but I love my band! Best wishes. Sue
  17. Hi Josie: I just got home from my pre-op appointments. First was with plastic surgeon. They did the following: 1. Collected my portion of costs ($4,700) 2. Had me sign informed consent 3. Discussed procedure with surgeon 4. Nurse took vitals and showed me the pain pump and answered my remaining questions. 5. Gave me alot of written docs to read regarding pre post surgery 6. Got five prescriptions to fill (3 of them are for anti- nausea) Then I went over to hospital. They did the following 1. Collected my portion of hospital visit ($1,625) 2. Nurse took vitals. 3. Discussed medical history. 4. Met with anesthesiologist for five minutes - discussion of previous anesthesiology issues - nausea & vomiting. No blood work or EKG necessary because I'm healthy and under 50 years old. My bp was 110 over 70 - yippee! I think the hardest part of the pre-op was the drive over there in rush hour traffic. Best wishes to you. I love my band! Sue

  19. Hi Julie:

I'm going to send you a pm.

    Sue

  20. Hi Josiebies: I don't have any advice because I'm scheduled just after you for my own tummy tuck. I'm on the 14th. I'm hoping that you'll share the pre-op appointment details with me. I go on Wednesday for mine. Isn't it great to think that our tummies will be flat again! Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you. I love my band! Sue

    Lellow and the Torso Lift

Lellow: Thanks so much for sharing all of the details. I am scheduled for a tummy tuck on 5/14/09. It's so helpful to be able to come to this site and find out what it's going to be like. Congratulations on your flat tummy. I'm going to join the flat tummy club soon. Take care. Sue

Have you been drinking only green fluids? Let us know what your doctor says. Take care. Sue

    Unfill required for plastic surgery

Hi: I'm scheduled for abdominoplasty on 5/14/09. My lapband surgeon wants me to have a total unfill the day before surgery and he said he'll refill the following week or when I'm up to it. I have big nausea issues with anesthesia so I believe that he's doing total unfill because of the high possibility of vomiting after anesthesia. I am pretty tight now. I think that lapband surgeons vary on their methods, so please ask your doctor. Hope all goes well for you.

    How serious is this?

Cindy: If you're having pain as well as having problems swallowing still you should call your doctor. Make sure that you don't get dehydrated. I've had a stick before and had to go back to all liquids, then start mushies, then solids. My doctor tells us to call if we ever have pain because your stomach shouldn't have pain when you are banded. They'd rather have you call than put yourself at risk for bigger complications. Let us know how you make out. Take care. Sue

I am in the hospital :-(

Hi: One of my band friends also got pneumonia (sp?) shortly after being banded. I think she ended up in the hospital for five days. Now's a time to follow the doctors orders, get good medicines, and rest rest rest. This is not a good way to start, but things will improve as long as you take care of yourself. It'll all be worth it in the end. Take care. I love my band! Sue
