Thanks Charlietuna. I recommend that you find a plastic surgeon that has a good reputation and that you are comfortable with. I also recommend that you take at least two weeks off of work even if you have a sitdown desk job because energy levels are way off post tummy tuck surgery. Good luck!

Finally went to siminar yesterday.
Sue Magoo replied to neesh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi: I just told my LapBand support group last week that the best thing about being banded was that my feet didn't hurt anymore. That was the first "positive" sign of my weight loss. I hope that you feel better soon. Take care. Sue -

Finally went to siminar yesterday.
Sue Magoo replied to neesh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Neesh: I was banded July 2007. Speaking from my experience, I can have a little bit of whatever I want. However, I choose to eat the right things most of the time. You can never have a big plate full of food if you are banded because your band will prohibit overeating. I love my band and my only regret is not doing it sooner. I exercise 6 out of 7 days per week in addition to eating smarter and now I'm in a "maintain" mode. I'm happily in a size 12 from a size 26/28. I feel 15 years younger and have gone from couch potato to being an active, lively person. Best wishes to you. Sue -
1 Day Out - Sooooooo Nauseous
Sue Magoo replied to marathonmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi: They do make an anti-nausea suppository. You might need this. If you cannot keep liquids down call your surgeon. You could have very serious issues if you get dehydrated. Best wishes. Sue -
Mrgrta: Wow - four week pic is fabulous! It gives me hope because I'm two weeks behind you. Congratulations! I love my band! Sue

Looking for encouragement

Hi: I'm not sure where I read it, probably WLS magazine. It said that the more the surgeon's see the lapband patients the more they lose. So, please go and see your surgeon and tell him that you'd like to check to make sure your band is where it should be. You may be able to tell by the quantity of food you can eat in one meal. If you can eat more than a cup of food you're probably not tight enough. I hope things improve for you. I love my band. Sue -

Joanne: Engaged! Wow! Congratulations! Glad to hear you are feeling better. I saw plastic surgeon's nurse today. She took out the belly button stitches, but it's still not looking like a belly button yet. Maybe next week. She said I could switch to a panty girdle type thing as long as it comes up to the bottom of my bra. She said I could go without compression garment in bed, but she said I may prefer to keep it on - either way okay with her. She said I'm healing great, and I agree. Other than a strange groin pain that keeps me from sleeping on my favorite sleeping side, things are great. Got a small fill today. Hope to get my band on track. I gained 6 pounds. So, that's really 10 pounds because she took off 4 pounds. I'm going to have to buckle down. I know I've been eating things I shouldn't while I had my band wide open. Kind of a mini band vacation - I even had some bread! Get some rest and continue to recuperate! Take care. Sue -
Hi All: I have a couple of questions about drains from my tummy tuck. First, how slow does the drainage have to be before they pull them out? For instance, if I am draining less than 25 cc's in an 8 hour period of time? Second, if the bulb on the drainage tube keeps inflating instead of keeping suction on does that mean that it won't work anymore? I'll call my doctor's office tomorrow, but was hoping for answers from some of you experienced with plastic surgery and drains. Thanks. Sue

mrgrta: Thanks for posting your pics. You look great and sounds like you feel pretty good too! I have high hopes for my 3 week post op pics from looking at yours. It really inspires those that haven't had surgery yet when they can see the before & afters. Thanks again. I love my band, and I'm pretty sure I'll love my tummy tuck too once it doesn't hurt anymore  Sue

mrgrta: Thanks. I can't remember when you had your tummy tuck. Did you belly feel like it was someone else's skin? It has this strange numbness about it. If you had it did it go away? How long did it take? Today was another good day! I love my band! Sue

Josie: Sorry to hear that you are still nauseous. No wonder you don't want to eat. Try to eat when the nausea isn't around because it's so important to have good nutrition when you're trying to heal your wounds. Have a good weekend, and don't do too much! Sue

Hi Josie: Thanks for your input. The drain fell out last night some time so I'm done with the drains. It had less than 30 cc's on that drain for two days, so I'm glad it fell out. I'm doing great except for the energy level and my sleeping schedule is all messed up. I'm going to give myself the weekend to "baby" myself and try to get back into a routine on Monday. I think that will help with the energy level and the sleeping too. I looked into the mirror today and saw curves! How exciting is that - he he he. Hope you're doing well too. I love my band. Sue
-
Thanks. Unfortunately I cannot get the bulb to stay deflated. I open it and press it closed and close the top, but it keeps inflating to full size. I'll call the surgeon tomorrow. By the way, I'm 6 days post op. Thanks again. Sue

Josie: So sorry that the "teary feary" tapped you on the shoulder. I hope that passes quickly. Maybe if you look at your before pictures and look at your new tummy and boobs that will help you get through some of the tears. I'm doing okay. My biggest problem is that I have no energy at all. I'm going to see surgeon today. Maybe she'll have suggestions for that. Take care and keep us posted. Sue -
I had my band placed by Dr. Adam Glasgow in July 07. Both of the Glasgows are skilled, caring surgeons. Dr. Adam did my gallbladder too. I can only say good things about them and their staff. The nursing group at the Caritas Norwood Hospital was good too. I just had my tummy tuck at Newton Wellesley and the nurses at Norwood were far more attentive than the Newton Wellesley nurses. Good luck. I love my band! Sue

Update - 5 days post op Feeling pretty good. I have a huge swelly belly though. One of the drains fell out, but it was draining very little, so I'm sure she'd be okay with that. I'm going to try to go with just tylenol today and tonight with hopes that will be enough and then she'll let me drive again. Have a great day everybody. Mine will be quite boring! Sue

Hi Ladies: I'm fine now. Surgery day was really tough because even though they did everything they could to prevent it, I still had issues with nausea! The slightest motion gave me the dry heaves. That was the worst pain at the top of my tummy where they tied the muscles together. Other than when heaving the pain isn't bad. I have one of those accufusers to provide instant numbing medicine over the abdominal wall stitches. I give that a pump just before I get up. Friday was alot better than Thursday. I just noticed that I'm like the michelin tire man. Rolls, rolls, rolls, and more roles. Yipes! I was so happy when the doctor took the dressings off on Friday and I could actually see that I made it to the flatlands. I'm gonna go lie down again. That's practically all I've been doing. Thanks for sending your well wishes and asking for an update. Sue

I'm guessing that you are talking to me. 143 lbs as of this morning. I keep fluctuating between 180 to 183. I'm hoping to get 10 more cut off tomorrow - tummy tuck - yippee. I love my band! Sue -
no drinking after meals
Sue Magoo replied to resintx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi: I love Diet Snapple Peach Iced Tea - yummy. Sometimes if I'm really thirsty after eating I go and rinse my mouth with warm Water and spit it out. It makes me less thirsty and I didn't actually have anything to drink. I love my band! Sue -
Juli: You look fantastic! You look very petite! Could you imagine two years ago that someone would say that you look petite? Congratulations on your graduation too. So many accomplishments at the same time - you must be such a fabulous multi-tasker. Now you can relax and reap the benefits of all of your hard work! Congrats! Sue

Josie: I'm confused. You said you had to have the foley out on Wednesday. Is a foley a catheter for urine? They didn't mention a catheter to me, but it makes sense that if you're going to be unconscious for 4 + hours that they would do that. Sorry that your pain is starting to be worse with the anesthesia wearing off. Did you have a pain pump to go home with? My doctor is attaching a pain pump that will send anesthesetic down over the abdominal muscle repair stitches, but it will only last for about 3 days. If you're not feeling well, don't bother to respond. I'm just getting a little bit nudgy now that I'm so close. I got unfilled today. My weight was 183 on his scale, 181 on mine in the morning. I hope she cuts off 15 pounds - ha ha! I was thinking about having a nonbanded meal tonight, but changed my mind. Angel says no, Devil says yes. I'm thinking the Angel will win out in the end. Take care and keep me posted. Sue -
Has anyone used Dr. Glasgow in Norwood??
Sue Magoo replied to boogitas's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi reallymary: I went to the Glasgows seminar in March 2007. I met with Dr. Adam Glasgow in April 2007 weighing 324 - yikes! I got my band on 7/26/07. I'm proud to say that this morning I weighed 181 and I'm at my goal size. Both of the Glasgows are caring, skilled surgeons. They seem to really enjoy their work and have pride in their patient's successes. The office staff is great too. I love my band. Best wishes to you with your band journey. Sue
