    Not feeling good.

Hi: If your blood sugar is getting too low you'll feel like crap! I get dizzy and nauseus when I don't have enough nutrition. Feel better soon! Sue

    Anyone struggle with nausea?

Hi: I have issues with nausea and dizziness if my blood sugar gets too low. Another thing that can cause nausea is an inner ear thing. I hope you feel better soon. Let us know how you're doing. Take care. Sue
  3. Hi: Please call the other Lap Band surgeon's office. Your relationship with your LapBand doctor's office is a long one because of all of the follow up. If they're not cooperative now they'll probably be problematic in the future. It may cause a short delay, but you'll be glad that you switched. Best wishes to you with your band. I love mine! Sue
  4. Hi: This question is aimed at those of us that are 40+. I was just wondering if others who've lost alot feel younger like I do? I am 50 and I feel like I'm 35 again and I've felt this way since I lost my first 125 pounds. Anyone else? I think it's great that I feel this way, and I hope others do too. I love my band! Sue
  5. Hi: I have issues with anesthesia so I've been totally unfilled for my last two surgeries (gallbladder and tummy tuck). Thank goodness for being unfilled because I was vomitting alot after the tummy tuck and it really hurt! I got refilled about a month after tummy tuck and I was fine during that month. Best wishes to you getting to the flat lands! I love my flat tummy. Sue

    Band coming out.

Wow, you've really had a rough go with your band. I don't have any of the experiences that you've had, but I just wanted to mention that the fact that you're so much closer to a healthier weight should make for your recovery easier. I'll pray for you that you don't have another issue with infection. Take care and let us all know how you make out. Sue

    Wannabthinagain's journey

Glad to hear you're doing well. I would have to agree that the Lipo pain was the strongest pain for the first few days. Continue healing and rest alot! Sue

Wannab: Just wondering how you're doing? Let us know when you're up to it. Take care. Sue

    Question of the day?

Sounds like you may be too tight. You should probably call your surgeon's office and get their advice. Hope you feel better soon. Sue

    Wannabthinagain's journey

Wannab: Hope things went well. Rest and recover and remember it's a time to baby yourself even if you get super-bored. Take care. I look forward to seeing your pics. Sue
  11. Hi: My port is just below my rib cage in the middle. I love it being there because I never have to think about anything rubbing on it. Also, it lays nice and flat there. Best wishes to you. Sue
  12. Katie: I was banded by Dr. Adam Glasgow back in July 2007. I had my first one-on-one appointment with him on April 23, 2007 and my surgery was July 26th, 2007. I did not have a six month supervised diet requirement. Some insurances have that. Best wishes to you. Maybe I'll catch you at support group some time. You might want to check out support group even before you get banded because that's when you'll have alot of experienced bandsters in one place. Take care. Sue
  13. Hi: You may want to increase your calories to between 1000 to 1200 per day and see if that helps. Your caloric intake might be too low and your body may be holding onto the calories because of this. Best wishes with your band. I love my band and my new flat tummy. Sue

    How long did you wait??

Hi: Congrats on your weight loss so far. I lost 148 pounds and had to be at a stable weight for 6 months before they would do plastic surgery. I got banded in July 07 and had a tummy tuck in May 09. Very happy with the results. Your plastic surgeon may be different, so you may want to interview plastic surgeons about 20 pounds before your weight goal and see if you find someone you like and go with their suggestions. Best wishes to you. Sue
  16. Hi: I agree with others. They're both great surgeons. They've done more than 500 bands, so they've got plenty of experience. They're both very caring people. They both seem genuinely engaged in their patients lap band journeys. You'll be making a great decision with either one of these doctors. Best wishes to you. I love my band and my new flat tummy. Sue
  17. Anne:

I was reading your post where you said that your band surgeon provides a tummy tuck 18 months postop. That's fabulous! I've never heard of that before. I would think that would be the only lap band surgeon in Connecticut once the word got out on that. Good luck with your band.

    Sue

  18. Hi: I totally agree with you, but for different reasons. I started at 324 and got down as low as 174. When I was that low people that I haven't seen in a while thought that I'd been seriously ill because my face was so drawn and my face was hollowing out. My original goal was to get to size 12, and I'm there even when I go as high as 185 to 190, so that's where I am, and happy to be there. I'm 50 years old and in the best shape I've been in for 25 years. I'm enjoying my life so much more without carrying an extra 150 pounds around. Sure, I still have some excess weight, but it's mostly in my legs. Mother nature doesn't take away the heavy legs when you've had them since your teens (even when I weighed 127 I had heavy legs). So, happy at size 12 and some 14's and living a healthy, full life. Best wishes to everyone who reaches their goal, or adjusts their goals because they're happy and healthy when they get close to their original goals. These bands are amazing and I love mine and my new flat tummy. Sue

    let's talk ports

Hi: My port is right where it's always been. It's about two inches below the bottom of my rib cage, right in the middle. It's not noticeable at all. When I had plastic surgery there wasn't alot of excess fat there so I'm not sure if she had to do anything with it. I had a full tummy tuck with some lipo in the flank area and also in the mons area. I'm very pleased with the results and am so happy my port is where it is. Never had any issues with it. Best wishes to you with your upcoming plastic surgery. Remember, for the best results you really must follow doctors orders and rest alot and then some more. Take care. Sue

    Switching Doctors/Surgeons

Hi: I highly recommend whichever surgeon's making it easier for you in the long run. This band is a life-long committment to you with your surgeon. God willing you won't need any more band related surgeries after the initial one, but the fills and follow up are very important and you want to have someone that is going to be good, and make it easy for you to meet your end of the follow up too. I'm so fortunate because my band surgeon and the hospital were in the same town and I live in the suburbs. Best wishes to you. Sue
  21. Manda: Saw your before & after's and just had to say you look amazing! Congratulations. I'm sure you feel just as great as you look!

    Exercise after plastic surgery

Hi: I had a tummy tuck last May. I was told nothing but walking for first three months. The first six weeks was supposed to just walk at a light pace so as not to break a sweat. You need to take it easy so that you can heal well. You'll get through it! Best wishes to you. Sue

    100lbs down in 5 months!

I have three things to say. Wow! Wow! and Wow!
  24. Nikki: I think us bandsters have a hard time recuperating because after losing so much weight we have amazingly incredible energy. Please remember that if you take it easy you'll heal better. A few weeks of low activity are worth the price to have a fabulous end result with your surgery. Take care. Sue

    wedge pillow?

Hi: I bought wedge pillow and used it only once. For wearing after plastic surgery I found that sweatpants and pajama pants with pockets worked best because I could put the drainage balls into the pockets. Mens pajama pants usually have pockets. Best wishes to you. Sue
