    Overeating?? Please help!

I guess I was lucky to have attended a seminar pre-surgery that really made an impact on me. They gave some hard fast rules that I have been following to the 't'. 1. Only 3 meals per day at least 4 hours apart-no Snacks. 2. No more than 1/2 cup OR 4 oz. per meal 3. Protein first (which leaves room for little else if you are getting the recommended amount of protein daily) 4. No drinking during meals or for 1 hour after a meal. (and then no carbonation, caffeine or sugar) There were other guidelines in regard to vitamin/mineral supplement, excercise, etc... but those above were the main ones about eating... Hope this helps!!! :Banane35:

TOFU Cooking Techniques and Recipes PLEASE

I LOVEEEE the recipe that VEX posted in the 3rd post on this thread! It's that Thai Tofu Bake. I have made some adjustments to my own taste...YUM! In used olive oil in the marinade instead of the canola and I kind of doubled up on the sauce part of it. Also, if I think the sauce is too thick I add a little water. I had it for dinner last night and again for lunch today! Allof you, please keep sharing as you learn so we can all learn!

    Eating more at night

So, when you become too restricted to eat breakfast, does the protein drink keep you satisfied til lunch??? I tried that once and found that I don't do too well. Wondering if it will be the same when I get a fill?

    Adding protein shakes

You know that Body Fortress brand from Walmart is pretty good! Low in everything except protein. I like to mix the vanilla with light vanilla soy milk or the chocolate with the chocolate soy milk...YUMMMMM!

I have special candy dishes for both wrapped chocolate Halloween candy and candy corn. I bought it like always and have it sitting out like always. So far since surgery I have no desire what-so-ever for sugar of any kind. Hope that NEVER ENDS!!! Since surgery Aug. 13 NO: sugar caffeine carbonation bread Pasta rice potatoes or anything white and so far NO cravings for anything at all!!! Oh, please Lord, don't let this ever end!!!

    Be Honest....

This thread raises a question for me having had my surgery in Mexico. I figured I'd just cross bridges as I came to them, but since we're on the topic.... I haven't had any fills yet but I have a fill doctor lined up. If I ever do get too tight there are plenty of ERs in the area. Problem is, I CANNOT afford to go to an ER! So can I demand that the doc see me the following day if I can't get liquids down? Is there any chance he would give me a syringe to unfill? I'll be asking him questions along these lines, be sure of that.

    Supplements, Calcium, minerals, et al

Do you take 6 of the Flintstones daily? I'm taking 2 Centrum Silver...wondering now if that's enough. I also take 3 of the chewable calcium and a sublingual B complex. What is Radox???

    Hi Everyone!

It's ok to be scared, especially if you have never had any other kind of surgery. Just try to trust that everything will be ok and it will. It's really not bad at all! Honestly! When I was on liquids I allowed myself as much as I wanted of chicken or beef boullion, sf jello, decaf coffee or tea, and anything else clear. You'll do JUST GREAT!!!
  20. Where is Steve and Barry's? Are there stores or just online?
  21. Try the Body Fortress brand from WalMart. I love the vanilla mixed in 8 ounces of Light Vanilla Soy Milk!!! I think it's about $13.00 for the smaller size. (2#?)

    Is hair loss a given?

I am 7 weeks post op and have just started noticing some hair loss when I comb my hair. Luckily I have lots of it! When I was in my teens and 20's and wore it long, long, long I used to see wads of it on the drain every time I washed it. Then for years, nothing. So we'll see.
  23. :help: I need an attitude adjustment. I just can't seem to bring myself the excercise. I am more active...but not exactly excercising. Can't afford a gym or the Y right now. I do have a treadmill at home...but I absolutely HATE it! Someone tell me why I need to excercise right now anyway. I'm only 5 weeks post op and have only lost 20 #. Surely it would be ok to wait awhile longer...right???
  24. Just wondering who on this forum has been banded the longest and what you have experienced???

Oh Laura!!! I hope that isn't true because I have had hypothyroidism since 1987 due to Hashimoto's disease, and here I sit with a lapband that I paid almos $8,000 for out of my own pocket! :faint:
