  1. ARe there any sleevers who take Enbrel? My surgeon said that I'll have to quit my injection for 2 weeks prior to surgery and 2 weeks after. That has me more terrified than anything. I have severe psoriatic arthritis and 4 weeks with no injection will mean barely being able to walk without horrible pain and stiffness. Wondering if any other sleevers have the enbrel experience?
  2. So I had my sleeve done on April 2nd, 2014, just shy of 5 months. I used to come here quite regularly but life has been so busy, I don't get much time to post at all. I've lost close to 70lbs so far, 2 shoes sizes, 4 bra sizes and 6 dress sizes. I don't really weigh myself anymore though because that scale plays mind games with me. I've lost lots of hair but I don't stress about it too much. I've started a local Bariatric Support Group because there are many people around my town who've had or want to have the surgery and there is no real support system. This also helps me to stay accountable. I'm not one to be super strict with myself. I eat whatever I want, but I definitely know that my 'want' has changed dramatically since surgery. There's a big change on the outside, but the biggest change for me has been on the inside. I love myself. I love life. That is huge because I definitely didn't feel that way before April 2nd. I am a total Crossfit addict. I do crossfit at least 5 days a week. I am addicted. It has made the biggest difference in the reshaping of my body. So here's a before and "during" because my journey is still just beginning!

    Before & "During"

I know! I was scared to death at first but I really love it now. I am not one of the lucky ones that has been able to lose weight with just food. Crossfit really boosted my body shaping. Thank you everyone!!
  4. Hey Jackie! Hope all is well! I struggle so much with actual weight loss that I totally don't weigh myself at all. The last time I weighed myself, I was done 67 lbs and stuck there for at least 4 weeks. So i just quit it. I do crossfit 5x a week and a brisk walk 2x a week. It's definitely a process. Surgery april 2nd
  5. Great thread 1. I actually think I look good in clothes now and I can shop in REGULAR stores 2. I love myself 3. I actually have a life now, not just existing.
  6. I'm from Canada where premier is only available at costco. I'll be in Orlando. Is it available generally at Walmart? I don't want to have to bring a week supply in my suitcase. Thanks

    hair loss

I am 3 months out, down 55 lbs and losing hair like crazy. It really sucks. Toppix works great so far but I fear I'll be smearing it on a bald head before long.
  8. I live in a small town and there aren't any local support groups for bariatric patients so I'm going to start one. If anyone attends one or knows about them, could you please give me some advice about how they are run? I am most interested in learning about what is discussed? Is there a theme for each meeting or is it usually just q&a? How often are the meetings? How long are they? Any input would be useful. I have a NUT who will attend as well as a psychologist. (They're both friends of mine willing to donate their time). Thanks for all your input in advance.
  9. My fitness pal. It's an app
  10. I am about 10 weeks post op. Lost about 46 lbs, stalls are a very realistic part of my journey so I've quit weighing myself. I made myself a 'fitness bucket list' which were several exercise related achievements. One of them was to climb this local mountain that I've seen others climb throughout the years but have never physically felt able to. So yesterday my BFF (who is a personal trainer ) came with me while I climbed to the top. It was so tough but I never stopped till I reached the top. What a great feeling and even better workout!! Here's a few pics.
  11. Thank you all. It's a hard road. To answer your question I would recommend the surgery, now. But ask me 6 weeks ago and I would say hell no. I am able to do everything I did pre-op. I don't drink so I wouldn't be able to answer that question.
  12. Hahahah that sucks to be advanced in that. I'm 11 weeks and still holding.
  13. Have two big canisters of unflavored unjury protein that I bought pre-op and never used (and never opened) as well as a canister of the chicken flavored. If anyone would like it, I'll ship it to you. Just send me a message.

    Unjury Protein to give away

    It's gone...that didn't take long lol

    Unjury Protein to give away

I was able to get my protein with meat and premier shakes. I went a little shopping crazy pre-op when I should have waited to see what I would tolerate.

    NSV

I'm 9 weeks post op and have lost 40 lbs but stalled for the last 3 weeks. However, today I got a NSV at my dr apt. She eliminated the last of my diabetes meds and my cholesterol med!!! I'm so happy!! Just have 2 BP meds to get off next or at least decreased.

    Ate all day

I had fries for lunch and I just had a muffin as a snack. Time to regroup for tomorrow. I'm 9 weeks post op.
  20. Do any of your plans have you peeling all your fruit for the first year post op? Mine does and I just wondered about others. Seems like a long time to have to peel all fruit.

    Will i enjoy food again?

Food totally sucks for me. I'm about 9 weeks out most of it goes down ok, just doesn't taste good and never leaves me feeling satisfied.
