Time off after Sleeve
aNewTanya replied to nursejenny07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder why my surgeon recommended at least 8 weeks off considering the norm seems to be around 3-5 weeks? -

Way to go! -
I'm still pre-op but I'm definitely a stomach sleeper. How long after the surgery will this be possible again?

Wondering if anyone stayed home alone right after surgery?
aNewTanya replied to trudyjo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for asking that question. I'm a single mom of a 7yr old and I will likely be alone too for the most part. -
Are you getting in enough fluids? I know that dehydration can be the cause. Were you on BP meds prior to your surgery? Congrats on your sleeve! I'm envious!

Got the "ok" from the Nutritionist...now i wait for the phone to ring.
aNewTanya posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Another milestone hit. I've been required to follow a diet from the nutritionist for the last month and after reviewing my food journal today, she has ok'ed me for the surgery. Now it's just a waiting game for the surgeon's office to call me with a date. This waiting is killing me. I feel so ready to have this surgery. I must admit I do have a bit more anxiety now than I did before I got to OK. Its all real. My weight problem is my biggest vice in my life and I'm so afraid of failure but I've read pretty much read everything there is to read on this surgery. I'm not so concerned about the physical as I am about the mental. I've been working on the mental/emotional attachment to food for a while but my issues are definitely still there, otherwise I wouldn't even need the surgery. Thanks for listening. -
Sleeping on your belly
aNewTanya replied to aNewTanya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks all. When I had my c-section it was a while before i got to sleep on my belly but I guess I was used to it being so pregnant and all. -
The pre-op struggles and feelings: Im tired of being fat...DAMN
aNewTanya replied to readyanxiousscared's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't smoke but I can definitely relate on the obsession part. This WLS has consumed my almost every thought. I try not to talk to my friends about it because frankly, I'm pretty sure they're sick of hearing about it. I'm always reading about WLS, read almost every post on here on a daily... trying to imagine what my experience will be. I'm still waiting on a date. Just waiting for that phone to ring. I'm a single mom of a 7 year old so I have so many feelings of fear that something could go wrong in the surgery and i'm all she has, but I don't let those feels stay in my head too long. I try to envision life as a healthy person -100 lbs and it seems unreachable since I've struggled with weight forever. So anyways, yes, totally obsessed with this but the good thing is that I think food is already starting to repulse me. -
This is my biggest addiction. I don't have my date yet so I haven't quit my diet coke yet but I definitely need to. I'm so addicted.

Good morning everyone, I've been reading posts for about a week now and I thought it would be best to introduce myself as this seems to be a group made up of new friends. I'm Tanya, I'm 40 years old. Single mother of a 7 year old daughter living in Eastern Canada. I am pre-op. Just waiting on that call from the Surgeon with a date. I was told I'll be going sometime in the next 4-6 weeks. I'm very anxious. Like so many, I have always been overweight. But as an adult, I've really let my weight dictate my life. I'm very successful professionally but basically have no life socially. I don't go out, I don't hang with friends. I stay home and eat. I'm an emotional eater. My body has me trapped. It's taken me a long time to finally decide this was my best option for success and a happy life. I'm all my daughter has so I have to do whatever I can to live a long healthy lifestyle. My biggest fear in this surgery is the post-op struggle i see so many having as well as the head hunger. I'm doing everything I can now to try to change my thinking about eating because it really affects my everything. I think this place is going to be my new virtual home as I do live in a very small town with no support groups available. Thanks everyone for reading! Tanya

Just waiting for the call to have my surgery!

Hi all. My first post. Reading all the threads. They're very helpful. I'm so anxious for my surgery but very scared too. Not sure if my brain is as ready for this lifestyle change as my body is. How have you all dealt with your food addictions?
