Starting liquid diet again
aNewTanya replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
These kinds of posts scare me. Being pre-op, I wonder if the physical sacrifice of such a huge surgery is worth it when your struggles seem to be the very same and weight loss is minimal..... -
Recent surgeries -- what is the FIRST thing you want to do at goal
aNewTanya replied to Skywalker's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
On my vision board I have written on a post it 'when I lose 100 lbs I will jog through my community'. I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone so this will be a big accomplishment. -

Did you have counseling after surgery?
aNewTanya replied to Zoumommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've already started, I'm still pre-op. I know my struggles will be emotional. -
honest desires....
aNewTanya replied to readyanxiousscared's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't want to be thin. That's honesty. I want to healthy and happy. I don't have a goal weight. I have several goals but no targeted weight. -
Why did you choose the Sleeve?
aNewTanya replied to She's_Sleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm still pre-op but for me the band was never even an option. Both places where I went for consultations were no longer doing the band because of the large number of complications and low success rate. I wanted gastric bypass but because of my severe psoriatic arthritis, my surgeon said the sleeve was the way to go! Congrats on your journey, whichever you decide! -
Perhaps it's more fear on their part and not knowing all the details of the surgery? My mom was condescending each time I spoke about the surgery but I found that it was because she had misinformation about the procedure n outcome. She has since changed her views. You do what you think is best for yourself. No one has to live in your body but you.

How important is your goal weight for you?
aNewTanya replied to green*eyed*girl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am still pre-op and have no goal weight. I purposely didn't set one because I don't want to discourage myself. Also because I have zero clue what I will look like thin and what my body will look like. I don't think I want to be thin, just very healthy. That's my goal, off as many meds as possible and fit. Whatever healthy weight that ends up being, I'm cool. -
Where/How/When did you get your motivation?
aNewTanya posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been reading for months about the WL surgery. I am definitely ready for the surgery itself. No fears. I'm working on the mental component. I've been reading on this forum a lot and I have a question for those of you finding success in the sleeve. How/Where/When did you get the motivation to lose the weight after the surgery? I know that some weight loss is certain, due to the smaller pouch but what drove you to get the motivation to finally stop eating the bad food, to start drinking more Water, to exercise? Frankly, if I had motivation, I wouldn't be at the size I am right now. I fear that I am going to fail at yet another attempt (albeit a drastic attempt) to lose weight by the lack of motivation or at the very least at falling back into the bad habits afterwards. What changed for you to make you successful in your weight loss? I seriously cannot fail at this last attempt. I'm a single mom of a 7 year old and she is definitely being cheated out of a great life because of my food addictions and obesity. I just want to be sure that I'm doing everything I can to succeed. Motivation has always been my worst problem. thanks. -

Your Weight - A national security secret ?
aNewTanya replied to BookWorm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still pre-op and can totally relate. I tell NO one my weight. My doctor knows but definitely no one else. I am waiting until I am about 60 lbs lighter before I reveal what my starting weight was. -

What are some of your goals?
aNewTanya replied to Shortcake's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I want to be able to: 1. play with my daughter outside without getting winded or sore immediately after 2 mins 2. not be dead tired at the end of a work day 3. feel good inside and out 4. learn to skate 5. get OFF MY MEDS 6. wear regular width shoes 7. buy regular sized clothes. I've never not shopped at plus size stores -
Where/How/When did you get your motivation?
aNewTanya replied to aNewTanya's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, certainly. I am aware of all of this. My question was focused more on those experiences on how to get the motivation, where it comes from, when it came, etc. I realize the consequences to not having motivation and how to sabotage. -
Any1 scared it wouldnt "work?"
aNewTanya replied to ForkAndMindy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I carry the same fears. Nothing has worked for me in the past as far as weight loss has gone but its me that hasn't worked. Weight watchers doesn't work if you don't put the effort in, so with this, its the same... Yes there's a restriction but there's a huge discipline component there that scared the sh*t out of me! -

saying goodbye to my old friend...FOOD
aNewTanya replied to readyanxiousscared's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Andrew! That was very comforting to know these feelings about food will go away. Very comforting indeed. This is one of my biggest fears. Food is my life right now and has been for a very long time. I know I'm ready for it to end, but in all honesty, I feel like it will be so difficult. I hope I have the same experience as Andrew. It certainly won't be for lack of trying. -
Sleevers on Enbrel?
aNewTanya replied to aNewTanya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Motion is lotion so I started walking much more in anticipation of being taken off my Enbrel. Enbrel has really saved my life. My symptoms are almost non-existent. But I do also realize the 4 weeks is a small sacrifice to a life long change. I just keep thinking back to the months before I was on enbrel and wow, it was torturous. thanks for your comments. -
