    Boynton Beach

I had my lap band put in on January 17th. So far I am down 32lbs in 13 weeks. I am doing pretty well but looking for someone to exercise with. Anyone in Palm Beach County looking for an exercise buddy?

    Port area still sore

I am 16 days post op and the port area is still a little tender. It is mostly sore first thing in the morning and when I bend. I still cannot wear pants or anything that is fitted around my waist. Good news is my incisions are healing nicely and all the bruising is gone. Everyone's body heals differently but according to my doctor the port area will be tender for a few weeks. Best of luck to you!

    Surgery tomorrow and nervous

Hi Shelly! Congrats on getting through the first few days! I am 8 days post op and my port area is still sore. I mostly notice it in the morning after waking from lying flat and then getting up. Once I move around the soreness lessens. Believe it or not you will get use to it and learn how to move your body so the soreness doesn't bother you. For me, things like sitting up straight and walking help. Bending hurts, so I do a lot of squatting when picking things up. I started mushy foods yesterday and I am so happy! I am feeling even more confident about my decision everyday, with or without the soreness. But I agree with everyone, it is such a small price to pay knowing the outcome is better health!

    stomach gargling

Hi buttaflyladi I am 6 days post op and also get the "gurgles". I notice this is when I put a lot of liquid in to quickly. I read on another forum that this is a part of the digestion process and will get better. Crossing my fingers is does! Especially since I am back at work tomorrow. best of luck to you!

    Week 3 Post Op

Hi Khelm32! Glad week 3 is going well! I miss chewing so badly I actually had a dream I was chewing steak, lol! All these years being an overeater I have never had a dream about eating until now. I am just finishing week 1. And I must be honest I am so tired of Protein shakes and broth. I am excited to enter the wonderful world of pureed food. Any suggestions on things that were unexpectedly tasty? Looking for any suggestions to make next week as smooth as possible. Thanks for your help! MelC

    Surgery tomorrow and nervous

Hi Shelly, I had my lap band procedure done on 1/17 and I feel great! I did all my research and decided this was the tool to help me reach my goal. I have never had any surgical procedure before, so I was exceptionally nervous. Immediately post op the hardest thing is to move, but once you do you will feel so much better. I was up walking around the next day with moderate discomfort - thankful for the pain meds My best advice is to make sure you have a lot of options on hand for liquids. I immediately was bored with Protein shakes. They are often too sweet and I am a savory food lover. I recommend double-straining broth based Soups so you get the flavor - chicken noodle, french onion, vegetable. Also, stay hydrated you will feel so much better. Best of luck to you! You will do great! Can't wait to hear about your progress!
