    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

I'm only down 40 pounds since my surgery on Jan 13th. For the last month I have been stalled - not one pound of weight losss. However, prior to the surgery I would have been happy to have lost 40 pounds! It's all in the perspective I thought I was losing hair, but got it done today she thought I was actually getting better hair. I've been pounding the protein and doing all my vitamins. I finally had to buy some new clothes. The old jeans were falling off and all my tops are too big. I just bought some fun clothes. I'll put a belt on and continue to wear my baggy stuff to work. Priorities!

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

After a 10-day plateau, I'm finally starting to lose again. I'm cleared for solids, but I'm still really careful. I've gotten food stuck twice and the foamies once. I can eat chicken just fine - by no type of fish. However, I have been saved by shrimp. Shrimp goes down really easily, has lots of protein, and tastes good. I also found sugar-free cocktail sauce online. Whole beans don't work even if I chew well, but fat-free refried still work. I've found a no sugar added marina sauce, so I'm having that with spaghetti squash and a meatball tomorrow
  3. I did the exact same thing. I had my RNY on Jan 13th. I lost about 18 pounds - but stalled at 3 weeks - for 10 days. My doctor said to hang in there and I finally started losing again.

Discouraged. I haven't lost any weight in 5 days. In addition, I got something stuck on Saturday night and haven't been able to do anything but Protein drinks since - it hurts too much. My blood sugars aren't going down either. Beginning to think I shouldn't have done this.

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

I'm almost a month out and I've been eating puree for three weeks. I can do yogurt, cottage cheese, refried beans... and tiny chopped up chicken. Tuna and fish, no matter how mushy get stuck going down. I'm supposed to start regular food next week - but there's no way. On the bright side, I'm getting between 60 and 80 grams of protein a day. I mix unflavored BiPro with everything! Warm (hot hot) coffee and tea, G2 (low sugar) gaterade, crystal light (my least favorite. And I bought coffee syrups (Torani and DaVinci sugar free) and mix them with protein and water. My favorite is Root Beer- no carbonation so it's perfect. I am at a plateau today - but I'm sure I'll drop this weekend.

I was advanced to 3 tablespoons of food tonight - ugh. Although I didn't dump, I know it was way too much. Fortunately I had already gotten in all my protein, so I don't have to drink much tonight. I'm going back to 2 tablespoon again tomorrow morning.

I buy Bi-Pro online, but I'm sure you can get it at some place like GNC. Get the unflavored.

I love Bi-Pro protein. It has no taste at all. You can mix it into anything cold. You can also mix it into warm (under 140 degree) Soup, coffee, tea, etc. I put in in a Blender Bottle, give it a good shape and it's done. It foams up a little, but it's really nice not to have a smell or taste.

I'm 10 days post-op and started on pureed food on Tuesday evening - so good to have something besides liquids! I've also figured out how to mix unsweetened tea with my protein so that not everything I drink is sweet. So far I haven't had any real problems - no overeating - I'm so careful. I still have a little upper esophageal aching towards the end of the day. The MD thinks it's from two things. I) I had really bad GERD for 23 years and it probably has made my esophagus damaged to a certain extent and 2) things are still swollen. I lost 9 pounds my first week. My blood sugars are not great, but coming down daily. I hope you all are doing well!

    Secret Surgery

I didn't tell my extended family until the night before surgery. I didn't want to listen to their concerns, arguments, etc. I told them the night before so all they could do was wish me well for the surgery. It worked well for me.

My first post I had my surgery on 1/13 and didn't have any problems surgically or post op. I've been on Clear liquids and I have heartburn - but I had bad GERD before, so I don't know if that's why. I see my MD tomorrow and I hope to move to a puree diet.
