My sleeve was 12/22/14. I am doing well. I live in Central Oregon but insurance requirements sent me to Dr. Patterson and Legacy Good Samaritan in Portland. I had ups and downs with scheduling but I am so glad Dr. Patterson did my surgery. I researched her track record and talked with her and others who had used her. I have had NO problems since surgery and I have read of the many, many issues that face all of us before, during and after VSG so I am very happy with my outcome and surgeon. Any recent Central Oregon sleevers here?

Hello~ I just received approval for all pre-op tests the second week in April. No surgery date yet. I am going to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital with Dr. Emma Patterson as the surgeon. Anyone else on the same timeline as me?

@@ibabble how are you? My surgery was delayed several times. I just had it on 12/22. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow and I am feeling pretty good. How have the last several months been for you?

Thank you @Elode. My follow-up is in 2 weeks. I will ask about it then. If they did anything in the hospital I was not aware of it- don't remember any talk of it at all.

My surgery was scheduled for Sep 29 & I also caught a very bad cold. Congestion, running nose, coughing. My surgeon had me check in at the hospital, but she, the OR nurses, the anesthesiologists etc etc kept checking on me. They gave me a breathing treatment and then cancelled my surgery just before I was scheduled to go in. I am so glad they did. I wound up very sick for several weeks and treated by my PC doc. I was devastated but still am glad I got well first. For the best possible outcome, I think you need to be healthy and feeling well going in. I just had surgery 12/22. Good luck to you! When do they do a leak test? On your first follow-up?

I still have the "glue" on my skin and it's been 2 1/2 weeks. Most of it has fallen off. They said to let it come off on it's own in the shower etc. I didn't have a drain either, 5 incisions and internal stitches because there is nothing on my skin. It is healing nicely. I am hoping for minimal scaring.

I'm having trouble sleeping also. Used to sleep on back and sides, but have only been able to sleep on my back (propped up) or in a recliner since surgery 12/22. I tried to turn to my side and it felt like my stitches were ripping. Ouuch! The first 2 weeks I only slept 2 entire nights, most of the time I got up because my back hurt and I walked for a while then sat in my chair, going back to bed for a few hours around 4am. The walking helps my back, but I am looking forward to being able to turn. Not sleeping normal hours and back pain has been my biggest issue.

I was one of the last patients of the day. There were delays caused by someone else's surgery. I checked in at 10am and was prepped by 11 or so. They didn't take me to surgery until around 3pm. I was out of recovery and in a room by 630pm. I also had hernia repair on my esophagus so that may have added a little time. I was talking to my husband before 7pm and walking before 9pm. I got up several times during the night and walked. I walked several times in the morning and checked out the next day at 1pm and came home. Had a 5 hour drive so we had to stop every hour or so and I had to get out and walk. All the walking really helped me leave the hospital earlier and feel better at home. I still walk many times s day. Surgery was 12/22/14

I had surgery 12/22/14 and am now in the pureed stage. When I first joined this site, I thought I saw some photos someone had posted of their foods/portions on a plate or dish so you could see the variety, the size and what they were eating. Those were interesting to me. I have looked around but haven't found anything like this. I also did some web searches and couldn't find anything. Has anyone seen anything like this on this site or another site? Thank you! :-)

Thanks everyone! I am in the pureed stage. Some of the items in the diet from my surgeon are ground/pureed chicken, cottage cheese and marinara sauce. The portions listed are anywhere from 1 oz to 1/4-1/2 cup. I can only eat one to two ounces at this point. Last night I layered the pureed chicken, cottage cheese and marinara sauce in a small 5 ounce ramekin with a tiny bit of italian seasoning and baked it until bubbly. It was very moist and turned out to be a great little lasagna! I only ate a small portion of it and had it again for lunch today. Yummy. The other item you see in the picture is a steamed, mashed baby carrot. I could only eat a little of it also. I purchased small plates, ramekins and the tiny "taster" spoons and forks before my surgery. They are working very well for the small portions I eat. My husband also switched out the small one ounce plastic containers from the hospital with glass one ounce shot glasses! They work very well for yogurt, cottage cheese, drinks, just about anything. And….they make it fun! (so much better than the little plastic things )
