Yes I have a definite fear that once I have have the soft foods that my weight loss will slow down! I am too excited to get soft foods though, I think more so than letting the fear of a slow down happen. I have to keep putting it out of my mind (a slow down) and understand that my body will react just as well to the soft foods as it has to the liquids.

My surgeon already counts all of those except the rice pudding as full liquids. I spent 2 days in the hospital and didn't end up starting my full liquids until Saturday. Wed, Thur, Fri of last week I was only allowed Water and Protein drinks. IDK if my surgeon is going to let me move on after next Wed or after next Sat. I have an appointment with him on Monday morning. My next phase is soft foods as well. eggs, ground meat, lunch meat, soft veggies, soft fruits, toast, mashed potatoes, fish, crackers, and more. I am so excited to move on from the phase I am in now and to feel like I can have some REAL food! Today I went to lunch with my parents and got Soup and brought my own strainer to strain the liquids for myself. It was a nice change in flavors from what I have been having at home recently. So far I am down 12 pounds since surgery and 32 pounds overall.

I am 8 days post-op and got on the scale this morning and it said I had GAINED an ounce instead of losing like I have been doing. In the first week I lost 11.5 pounds no problem. Is it common to have a stall so quickly? I am still in the liquid phase and I have been getting in between 400-500 calories per day. I really don't get why there was no change on the scale today?? Has anyone had this problem?

Day 8 and a Stall Already?
Sunnybaby replied to Sunnybaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe I am naive because yes I was expecting to see a change every time I get on the scale, at least in the first 2 weeks while I am still on liquids. Apparently I am wrong in my expectations....I am still learning! I do understand what a stall is and to be honest it scares me a little bit. As for not putting the scale away, my doctor told me to weigh everyday and record our weight. -
Fremont! Kpay we are 20 mins from each, other! I go to Kaiser Santa Clara and since they don't have a bariatric dept my PCP could have referred me to Fremont of South San Francisco. She said that Fremont has a back up of people so that's why she sent me to South San Francisco. I have been very happy with Kaiser and their program. I just had my followup with the NUT today and I have my 2 week appointment (2 days early) on Monday.

I am 1 week today and so pre-surgery I lost 20 pounds. Since surgery I have lost another 11.5 pounds. So in total since January I have lost 31.5 pounds. I haven't regretted having WLS for one second, even right after surgery in the hospital. I was really nervous about the surgery but everything is going really smoothly and I have been really happy with it all, even though I am still on liquids for another week.

You are in the South Bay? That's so close! I had my surgery done with Kaiser in South San Francisco. I really love the bariatric team they have there and my surgeon was amazing! I had a friend who had her sleeve done at El Camino a few years ago. She said she had a really good experience there. I also have the month off....well I have a lot of time off since I am unemployed right now. LOL At least I am giving myself the month to recover and then I will be actively looking for work. Michelle, how much time do you have off? Just curious. Kpay, I think I am going to have to try the fudgsicle/protein drink idea! I'll try it with my ice cube tray. Sounds yummy. I am so thankful that I don't have to puree anything. I go from full liquids to soft/blended foods. I probably won't be blending anything but just sticking to soft foods. Unless I get to bored with what I am eating I guess.

So ladies as luck would have it I am from California too! Where are you all in California? I am in San Jose. My food is pretty set for us in stages and what we can have in each stage. Right now I am in Stage II which is 2 weeks of full liquids/jello/yogurt/applesauce/etc. I am looking forward to when these two weeks are up (not this Saturday but the next) because then I get to have things like fish, eggs, ground meats, lunch meats, etc. I should probably be doing a shake two times a day but I am having it once a day and making sure I have some greek yogurt or cottage cheese with another meal. Let's see, I lost 20 pounds from my HW to my SW. Since surgery I have lost 10 pounds. So in total I have lost 30 pounds. It's super exciting!

My head hunger has been getting the better of me lately too. Yesterday I was obsessing over a doritos locos taco from taco bell. LOL I just have to keep listening to my tummy and not that nagging voice in my head saying EAT THIS EAT THAT

Preop diet causing constipation
Sunnybaby replied to AR40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have tried the Smooth Move tea and it really does work wonders! I found two different flavors, chamomile and peppermint. -

I took dulcolax per the NP. -
This IS QUITE an adventure! The first 2 days in the hospital were rough for me, The second day not so much as the first. I haven't regretted my decision to have surgery at all until today when I was upset that I could no longer binge on stuff like tacos. Then my husband pointed out to me that this is precisely why I GOT this surgery, so I don't have the ability to binge eat until I am overly stuffed, then binge more. It's weird to have to concentrate on getting my Water in though but I did well today. I got 40+ oz in. I am on full liquids and have been enjoying the creamed Soups until today. Today I got a taste of dumping after eating some tomato soup so that is out of the question for awhile at least.I haven't been doing that great at getting Protein in but I am trying. I am able to get down one entire Protein shake (over the course of about 2 hours) and I have been trying to eat greek yogurt which also takes me awhile to get down all the way. But I am trying, and that counts for something I think.

Ewww I tried the Centrum cheable vitamins and they are just SO SO disgusting! I am thinking about scrapping them all together and going onto bariatricadvantage.com to get some. We got samples in one of our classes and they are GOOD.

Hey KPay! How are you doing? I am doing well so far. I have been tired and am learning the limitations of how much my new tummy will now hold. Other than that things have been going well! Would love an update from you.
-
Day 5 post op for me! YAY! I had to stay an extra night in the hospital because I couldn't pee. That wasn't much fun. Today I had my first dumping issue which was also no fun! It was around tomato soup. Maybe it was too acidy? Whatever it is, I won't be having that again.

Thanks Jones! I hope everything is going well with you and your recovery! Thank you too Bluesea! I will be sure to ask for something else if there are any probs. Wish me luck! Tomorrow at 9 my journey really begins!

pre - op day one... struggling.
Sunnybaby replied to krystle. k's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet. My surgeon is only having us do liquids for 48 hours though. -
Can you eat soup three days before surgery?
Sunnybaby replied to ssophilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said I could do full liquids but every surgeon is different, I suggest asking your surgeon if it's okay. -
Thanks Bluesea! I have to keep on the positive and just hope that everything goes as smoothly as yours is going!

That's great to hear Jones! I have heard nothing but awesome things about Dr Khayat so I am hoping my surgery will go well this coming Wednesday.

1 week away - afraid that I'll chicken out!
Sunnybaby replied to Fuff's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my surgery on April 30th and I have been going through a whole slew of emotions. Really though, the best thing to do is to focus on all of the positives and the awesome outcome of the surgery. I think the more I read or hear about bad things it just scares me. I am glad I read up on how people feel right after surgery so I know that if I go through those same things that it is normal. I am going into this with the understanding that I am doing this so that I can be better, have a better life, and be around longer with those I love. Those are the positives I am trying to focus on. -
I might submit for a mileage reimbursement. It's an hour drive to and from Kaiser SSF. If for some reason I have stay in the recovery room, if they have no rooms for me, then I will want them to reimburse me for a hotel room for my husband. What about you?

Protein shakes/drinks for pre-op
Sunnybaby replied to Happysassyg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op and I like the Premier Protein chocolate and strawberry from Costco and the Pure Protein frosty chocolate and vanilla creme from Trader Joe's -
I went to the class yesterday. I was super surprised at how many people in the class weren't doing their vitamins and hadn't tried protein drinks yet! I was up at Kaiser from 12-3:45 with an hour drive each way. Made for a long day.

My surgery is on the 30th and I have been going through it all. From excited, to boastful, to scared as hell. I think that the more i have talked to people on here and the more I have read almost made it worse. I haven't seen anyone sugar coat how things are right after surgery and so now I am freaking out about how bad it may be right after surgery! I gotta remind myself to take a deep breath and let it all go and remind myself that this surgery is a GOOD thing, it will change my life forever.
