I have lost 40 too! I lost 20 preop and I am 5 weeks out and have lost another 20 pounds and 3 pants sizes. It's exciting. I can't wait to see more come off down the road.

I was a "super healthy" fat person until surgery changed my life. Was it worth it?
Sunnybaby replied to LipstickLady's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Your story is SUPER inspirational! I am 5 weeks out and have been getting a bit jealous of all of the people that have lost so much. Until I read your post. Now I feel more inspired to grab a firmer hold of my physical/spiritual self and hang on for the ride. I can't wait until I am at the point where you are in life. Confident with yourself from the inside out. -
Second thoughts on sleeve
Sunnybaby replied to MrsHarris's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, choosing the sleeve was easy. I am bipolar and the surgeon explained to me that with the RNY there is a chance that my medications will not be absorbed properly. With the sleeve, everything is absorbed as it should be. -
Help: post-op pulling pain between navel and large incision
Sunnybaby replied to WorldTraveler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great; I was looking forward to healing and getting back to yoga and intense walking/light jogging. This pain makes it difficult to walk across the room...is this lifelong? What did your doctor say? Mine said it would take 3 weeks to heal a pulled muscle. ______________________________________________________ I never really talked to my doc about it. I just figured I was probably overdoing it and needed to slow down a bit. I wasn't about to stop exercising but just took it down a notch for a few days then tested it again to see if the pain was still there. I am pretty sure it isn't lifelong (unless maybe the doc sewed the muscle too tight?? IDK). It has pretty much subsided for me. Only crops up once every couple of weeks or so. -
Scared and overthinking it?
Sunnybaby replied to babish's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I keep thinking that every pound I lose is going to be my last and that I am going to be the ONE person who fails at this. I have lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks and I have to keep reminding myself that it'll happen. Just gotta take things one day at a time. -
When food doesn't agree with your tummy?
Sunnybaby replied to Unhappysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me when I eat something that doesn't agree or eat too fast it's just pain. The pain can vary in intensity too from mild to doubled over. It is NOT fun. -

Exercise - when and what did you start with
Sunnybaby replied to habsi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started doing a little bit of exercise after week 1 and by week 3 I am back in my usual workout stuff. I workout for about 45 min to an hour a day and I am almost 5 weeks post op. -
Help: post-op pulling pain between navel and large incision
Sunnybaby replied to WorldTraveler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that pain frequently between two of the incisions on my right side. Usually happened when I exercised. I found that if I slowed down a bit it helped. I am 5 weeks out and am still getting that pain occasionally when I work out. -
Surgery Next Week or September?!
Sunnybaby replied to Myonlybattle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was given a few different dates and chose to go with the soonest date possible. It's better to do it now than to go on vacation, gain weight, then not qualify for the surgery. Even if you have it done I am fairly certain that you could go just about anywhere and get the foods you need. You should make sure that the hotel rooms will have a fridge in them so you can go to the grocery store and have things onhand for you just in case. The sooner you have the surgery the sooner you start your new life. -
Keeping protein shakes down?
Sunnybaby replied to shahada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same issues with the protein drinks and powder. I bought the unflavored unjury and it had a funny smell. My surgeon said to try the unflavored powder in Crystal Light. It tasted a bit like Jello but I couldn't get over the consistency. I have heard from other people that when you add the unflavored powder in add it just a tablespoon at a time to things throughout the day. That might help. -

New to forum, considering the sleeve
Sunnybaby replied to Sbagdan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really scared too when I was going through the classes and when I met with the surgeon. I kinda had to just look at things as putting one foot in front of the other. I made it through all my classes, surgeon meeting, etc. and had my surgery on 4/30. It was the BEST decision I could have ever made for myself. I did not have much pain after surgery and have been using my new tool (my sleeve) to help me with my weight loss. I really can't tell you enough how happy this decision has made me. It's a life-changer. My advice to you would be to look at it as one foot in front of the other. Take things one at a time. I know my surgeon was very nice and that helped. I am sure your surgeon will do everything they can to help you too. Good luck! -
Yummy protein find from Costco
Sunnybaby replied to Bluesea71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How spicy are they? -
Thanks Kpay for the tip on the unjury. I will have to test out the 1TBSP thing today. Thanks also for the recipe! I will have to try it. Sounds like it would taste kind of like lasagna but without the noodles. Michelle - I too crave toast with butter. When I said I was having bread it was actually toast. Our program says no untoasted bread. It is interesting, before surgery all I craved was carbs (bread) and sweets. Now I could care less about the sweets but the bread is still very appealing to me. It just doesn't work for me anymore. I will definitely try the one bite then wait. I am supposed to be eating my meals spread out over a half an hour anyways and I am having a hard time grasping that so I need to slow down. I was upset last night because I know I'm not following my program the way I should and here is my chance to take care of myself and I am not. I vowed to work harder to do what I need to do the RIGHT way. NO MORE REGRETS. It's a simple program and all it takes is me following it which I know I can do. My stall ended on Saturday weigh in too. I lost another 1.2 pounds. I am now down a total of 33.2

I have been having my ups and downs. I was moved to soft foods as of Monday and the first two nights of that for dinner I ended up throwing up because I ate too much. I am really having to be conscious of slowing down. I am able to get in more than enough Water. In fact, liquids NEVER seem to really fill me up so I have been getting in between 64 and 88 ounces a day with no issue. I am struggling trying to get in as much Protein as possible. I bought some of the unjury unflavored Protein powder to pad my protein intake but it has a funny smell and it made me nauseated when I tried it. I am also having a problem with bread, it just seems to fill me up too much and doesn't totally agree with my sleeve. I also tried to eat tuna this week and my sleeve wasn't really having that either. I notice that it feels like I always have an air bubble in my esophagus when I take the first couple bites or sips of something. It hurts a bit but once I keep going its fine. This week was the first week that I regretted having WLS. I am just upset that I can't eat like a normal person anymore. I also have been craving a soda. *SIGH* It is what it is. I'll get over it I know. Today my husband and friends and I went up to Fisherman's Wharf. I thought I was ready to spend the entire day walking around but I was wrong! Half way through the day my body was hurting, and I was exhausted. At least it was great exercise.

I have been lagging this week. It's in the upper 90's here and frankly I just don't want to go out in the heat and walk. Last week I was able to do 20 minutes on most days. I noticed that when I take my dog with me my incisions hurt worse on one side because she pulls but I feel bad if I don't take her with me. My husband is working on training her to heel better. I stopped drinking the Protein shakes. I am waiting for my order of unjury unflavored powder. The Protein drinks since surgery have been absolutely horrible. I am having to literally gag them down. My doc said not to take anything that I have to force myself to drink and agreed that the unflavored powder was the best choice.

Unjury protein shakes
Sunnybaby replied to nursejenny07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bluesea - I'll take your unopened unflavored ones! I'll be happy to make the drive up. -
I had my appointment with my doctor on Monday and he advanced me to soft foods. I immediately went down and made myself a poached egg on one piece of toast. I have tried having toast now a couple of times and bread just doesn't work for me anymore, it makes me WAY too full. I am also having some issues with learning how to eat slow. Both last night and the night before I threw up from eating too much at dinner. I am also finding that my sleeve is very temperamental! I have to eat VERY carefully. Kpay - I have had the complete opposite issues as your constipation. I think I would rather have the constipation than the diarrhea. Also, I have lost 12 pounds so far but for a week now the scale hasn't moved. I think it's a stall but I decided to put the scale away and only weigh once a week.

Weight loss pre-op
Sunnybaby replied to truthinhiding's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost a total of 20 pounds pre-op. I had only 48 hours of a liquid diet. I did have a pre-op diet to follow that was 1200 calories a day and I also stepped up my exercising 5-6 days a week. That's awesome that you have lost so much so far! Congrats! -
It scared me to death before my psych eval too because I am on a whole slew of meds for bipolar. Things went so smoothly that after I left I though that that seemed too easy. You'll be fine. Don't work it up too much in your head and try to stay relaxed about it. I know, easier said than done but trust me, I've been where you are too.

Unjury protein shakes
Sunnybaby replied to nursejenny07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought a bunch of protein powders and ready made shakes prior to surgery and was fine with them. Since surgery I can't handle any of them AT ALL. I have been gagging them down. I just ordered the unflavored unjury so I am hoping that that will be my life saver. -
Thursday Fun--Does your sleeve have a nickname?
Sunnybaby replied to hopeliveshere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always refer to my sleeve as The Little Banana but after reading this thread I am thinking I will have to come up with something a little more clever! -
Ladies: How much loss 1st week?
Sunnybaby replied to Comeflywithme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve on 4/30 and was down 12 pounds the first week. After that I got on the scale a couple of days and there were small gains! I was super discouraged so I decided to weigh myself once a week from now on. -
I am out 12 days today and am feeling alright. I have noticed since surgery that I am now lactose intolerant which sucks but maybe this will resolve itself at some point. I am on full liquids and am hoping to advance to soft foods this week. I am dying for some real actual food! I am down 12 pounds since surgery and 32 pounds overall. I went down 2 pant sizes already.
