Weird hiccuping thing...
SugarFreeMe replied to robbinp's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Things like hiccups, belching, runny nose or other minor things like this are most likely your bodies way of telling you post-op that your new pouch is full. I know that I will hiccup and if I even think of eating one more bite I'll be miserable. It's a signal from your body more likely then not. -
I honestly don't think pre-diabetic counts. I have BCBS of Illinois, they've done away with any pre-surgical diet requirements but have the same other conditions you describe above. I started with a lower BMI but had just been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol so I qualified. The night before surgery was when I took my last med for the diabetes and cholesterol. I still have slightly high blood pressure but they expect that to go away although it does run in my family. You can always try to qualify, there is a process that can be gone thru if a denial is received, the surgeon can request a peer-to peer conversation with insurance explaining why it would be beneficial to you because of family history. If I were you I'd go to a seminar and schedule a consult. The surgeons office is expert at dealing with insurance, they can tell you what your chances are more then anyone here can. Good luck.

I was sent home with one from the hospital although they have similar versions at Walgreens. It was a compression belt that was about 8 or 10 inches long so it covered my torso. It helped immensely during the first couple of weeks. I highly recommend one.

Do any of you eat those frozen entres like lean cuisine , if so what ones please?
SugarFreeMe replied to Homecie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre-make your lunches. Add a hard boiled egg, a couple slices of deli meat and a slice of cheese and a couple of crackers or veggies if you want. Everything but the crackers and veggies has Protein and you can mix it up with ham, turkey, chicken, cheddar, provolone, american, smoked cheddar, the option are unlimited You can make them up ahead of time for the whole week and your good. I try to stay away from any frozen/premade foods like what your talking about. They use so many preservatives and add tons of sodium. -
When if ever are you allowed a cup of coffee?
SugarFreeMe replied to Homecie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 8 weeks I was told I could again have coffee. I drink 2 to 3 cups a day and haven't had any problems. I think they try to limit how much you have because it does dehydrate and a lot of people add cream and sugar which can lead to trouble. I add truvia, not problems. -
9 months post-op and not a single regret. I knew it wouldn't be pleasant the first couple of weeks, but all-in-all it wasn't horrible and the results are amazing!!!!!!

Other possible signals could be a belch or a hiccup, both things I do. If I even eat one more bite, I'll be miserable. Also, word of advise, try one thing at a time so make sure it works. Kind of like a baby where you only introduce one new food at a time. Things you normally eat may not work. I can eat eggs but put something into them and all bets are off and that's even after 9 months.

I'm ready, I'm committed...Let's GO!
SugarFreeMe replied to Jennifer Newman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Jennifer and congratulations on taking charge of your life. Coming to the decision to have this surgery isn't an easy one to make and the process isn't any easier. Your confidence and commitment will serve you well, but your attitude is going to get you to the finish line. I'm glad you found this site. The support is great and there's so much information. Best of luck, reach out if you have any questions, I'll do my best to help. -
I'm with DJMOHR, you should be trying one item as a time and I'd add that you should only have a couple tablespoons at that. You're pouch needs to figure things out and stuffing too much in isn't going to work. I'm 9 months out and still can't do ground beef or really any kind of beef. I can eat eggs alone, but if I mix anything in with them, all bets are off. It's a learning process, even this far out. You'll get there, just go slowly. Success is going to happen for you.

Congratulations - Hope all goes well tomorrow and you're up and about soon enough. This is by far the best thing I've ever done for myself. Does it hurt, yet....but it's so worth it. I'm 9 months out and almost at goal.

Post Op soreness question

I found that with the used of a tummy binder that mobility was way easier. It hold everything still when you move, stops the jiggling. -
New to this surgery!
SugarFreeMe replied to arielgail21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There really is no such thing as unflavored Protein. It has a distinct taste to it, unflavored means it isn't vanilla, chocolate, etc. I found that if I used the "unflavored" and added stronger tasting items to it that worked. Try adding Peanut Butter or bananas, they help to cover up the taste of the Protein Powder. Fortunately this stage doesn't last too long. -
It's been 4 days post op
SugarFreeMe replied to vinnie1717's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vinnie - You really need to move, that's the best solution. I had a lot of pain in my upper back and shoulders that was helped by a heating pad. Hang in there, it get better.
