I think Albertson's is the same as Jewel. I took a pic of both of them. -

You're welcome! Hope you like it! My magic seasoning is a McCormick brand garlic pepper seasoning grinder. I think I got it at Jewel or Target. I'll try to take a pic for ya. -
The pre-op struggles and feelings: Im tired of being fat...DAMN
*Glitter*In*The*Air* replied to readyanxiousscared's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't told many friends about my WLS. I am sure it will come out later, but I don't want anyone raining on my parade right now. I just need positivity to keep myself motivated through this preop phase. So mostly I "talk" on here where we're mostly going through the same thing and everyone is supportive and encouraging (which I am grateful for). I'm a mom to a 5-year-old girl and my biggest fear of this surgery is not making it through it. I don't want to leave her motherless. So I can totally relate in that aspect. But then I think of how much better of a mom I'll be from doing this. I talked to my surgeon today and signed my consents and he assured me that he thinks I'm a great candidate, very low risk per the cardiologist, and that I will sail right through it. He also had not had any patients die, which was also a relief. So you're not alone -

Sarah, I had beef broth today (made from beef bouillon granules) and I used some garlic pepper in it from a grinder and it was amazing. And I normally do chicken all the time, but I was getting sick of it and this was salty/savory and a nice change. -

Off the cigarette subject for just a quick sec, what are you all looking up on YouTube? Are you just searching "gastric sleeve"? I'm prolly gonna regret asking cuz I'll be even more obsessed, but I'm super curious! -
Starting to panic
*Glitter*In*The*Air* replied to Valerie R.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right with you, Sarah. Day 2 for me, little hunger and surprisingly no headaches from giving up diet pop and coffee. I was expecting a major fallout from caffeine withdrawal, but (knock on wood) so far I'm good. My TOM is a day late, so I'm hoping that doesn't mess up my good attitude - lol. When is your surgery? I'm the 17th. Can't believe it's so close! -

Preop dieters... How are you keeping track?
*Glitter*In*The*Air* posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on Day 2 of my preop diet. It's going waaaaay better than I expected. I've given up cigarettes, diet pop, and coffee, and I'm living to tell about it! Lol I'm just wondering how you all are keeping track of your food and fluids? Is there an app? Is there a thread on here? I'm writing it down now and keeping track of everything I consume, but I was wondering if anyone had any better methods than a pen and paper. Thanks! -

Recently quit smoking myself, ready! Hard thing to do, but it's been over two months for me now. I used Chantix per my surgeon's recommendation. He told me I'd have to be smoke-free at least one month before he'd operate on me. That lit a fire under my fat ass! I want a healthier life. I want to be able to run. Hell, I want to be able to walk and not be out of breath. I want to see my 5 year old go through all of life's big moments, and I want her to be proud of me and not ashamed. This is the second time I've quit smoking and it wasn't easy, but it's worth it. You will feel better and be happier and live longer. Plus smoking stinks really bad. People tell me I smell good now. And my hair smells fabulous! Lol Anyways, I hope this did not come off as braggy cuz I don't mean it to be. I mean it to be encouraging. You can do this!!!! -
Tell me about your required pre-op diet

I can have decaf tea. I probably typed that out wrong. I found some yummy caffeine-free Tazo flavors: Cocoa mint and Spicy ginger. No specific instructions on SF sweeteners. Did you get specific instructions on them? -

Just got my info today. I get 2 shakes (their brand only, I think) mixed with Water only. NO MILK!! These are in place of 2 meals. I get a 3rd meal consisting of 4 ozs of my choice of Protein (any meat, eggs, cheese or fish). They gave examples of protein as lean beef, steak, veal, turkey, chicken, any kind of fish, cottage cheese, eggs, and cheese. We are also allowed 1/2 cup of non-starchy vegetables. They gave examples of broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, green Beans, salad greens, and cucumbers. NO FRUIT, PEAS, CORN, POTATOES, TOMATOES, OR OTHER STARCHES!! We also have to take a Fiber supplement, 8 chewable orange (ugh!!!) Vitamins per day and 200 mg of CoQ-10. We must drink 64 ozs of liquid (no coffee, decaf coffee, tea, or soda). No carbonated beverages. We can also have 2 servings each of SF Jello, SF Popsicles, and broth per day in between meals. I'm pretty much typing this verbatim from my preop instructions. -

Hey, CubsWin! Where are you getting your surgery done? I'm in the suburbs of Chicago and I was just curious if it was Silver Cross by any chance.
-
Feb 17th for me too, in Chicago! We are getting snow left and right. They are predicting another 10-12 inches on Tuesday night into Wednesday. Wednesday is my 4-hour class. I'm hoping the lousy weather doesn't interfere with anything related to my surgery! :-)I'm from Chicago and sure don't miss the winter weather there.Where in Chicago are you at? I was in Oak Park. Wed is my pre-op all day class also. How far do you have to go to get to the class? Its 32 miles for me but weather is great. Summers are a challenge. There are 3 of us having surgery the 17th. We'll all do great. I'm almost weaned off the caffeine and same goes for the diet coke. I'm in the south suburbs, New Lenox. Actually my 4-hour class is Tuesday, the 4th. I'm glad I remembered that! I haven't started trying to weak off diet coke or coffee yet. Guess I'll start tomorrow.
