    Size 14!

Thanks for all the kind words. It really means a lot to me. Updated stats but think I forgot to hit "save changes". Should be correct now. Had to go in for an unfill last week (after the fill 6 days previous) ???? - . 5cc I hate to admit it but that was a hard decision to make. How goofy is that? I was more excited about the 5 pounds I lost in 6 days than how bad I felt. If there's anyone out there over filled but caught up in the romance of the quick weight loss, find me. I'm going to try to talk you into feeling better. I do.. And I've even lost weight since the unfill. HEALTHY lost weight. Thanks again for all your support guys!

Thanks guys! ! I'm getting up to get dressed. I've got some new pants to wear! (And I'm updating stats now. Thanks for the reminder)
  3. I really appreciate you sharing that. I mean that sincerely. I will remember your story while on my journey.

    FIRST FILL

I got first fill at 6 week. I was very nervous. I'm not afraid of shots but I had visions of it being terrible. I can't even begin to tell you what a non issue it was. He had the needle in and was talking to me before I even knew what happened. Didn't even feel it. Second fill was a little different but only slightly. This time when the needle went in, I felt a pretty big pinch. Nothing painful but it did wake me up a bit. When he pulled the needle out, I bled a lot. Blood actually dropped to the floor on my shoes. And by the next day I had a pretty large bruise that lasted about 2 weeks. I'm probably making it sound more dramatic than it actually was. While it certainly wasn't as easy as the first one, it was still no big deal. So far, for me, the fills are super easy and I realize now I wasted a lot of time worrying about them. I'm in and out of his office in less than 20 minutes. And 15 of those 20 minutes are spent waiting for the doctor. Good luck! Everyone is different of course but I hope your future fills are as easy as mine have been so far.

    Banded on June 3rd

Sugar free popsicles are wonderful! And might help get the weird taste out of your mouth too. Good luck to you! It gets better.
  6. I have a diet coke every once in awhile with no problems. Occasionally I will get an uncomfortable tight feeling but I burp and feel fine. Then today. .. had about 5 sips and got a terrible "stuck" feeling. The longer I sat there, the more sick to my stomach I became and finally threw up. (TMI.. sorry) I wasn't eating food and my last fill was 3 weeks ago. So what's that all about? I've read that many people can't drink carbonated beverages ever after surgery. (Apparently I might have just become one of them) What's the physical reason for that? And is there a reason why a diet coke would bother me one day and not 4 days later? Just curious.
  7. Thank you all for the input! Understand about old habits but having a Diet Coke once or twice a week is something I enjoy without any added calories. No problems up until the other day. Interesting what was typed about how different outside elements can affect the way your band reacts. I've never considered that before but will pay attention now. I've noticed there are days when I can eat a little bit of bread no problem. Same bread, three days later, and it doesn't work at all. I've been satisfied with my results up to this point so its nice not to have too many restrictions on different types of foods. Again, everyone here always has such great input so I appreciate your feedback. I don't post a lot but read and consider everything everyone writes.

    3 days post op:/

I couldn't drink protein shakes either. I tried. But they tasted so terrible I couldn't even swallow them. When I was able to drink full liquids, I made tomato soup using a lot of milk for protein. Something about warm liquid going down really makes you feel good.
  9. I had a two week pre op diet. There were no restrictions for drinking in that diet.
  10. My doctor gave me no rules for drinking other than to limit the amount of liquid with a meal. I guess to make sure I get enough food in. So far, I've been okay. Which is a really good thing because pre surgery, I probably had three to four glasses of Water with every meal. (Which sounds crazy! How did I ever eat as much as I did?) Now it's just one glass. I hate to admit this but until I read this post, I never knew there was a rule to not drink 30 minutes before or after a meal. (That's probably not good)
  11. First of all , congratulations! I didn't have any pain or problems after my band surgery on March 6th however about 1 week after surgery I was so weak and lightheaded I actually had to go home from work one day. I called my nurse and she said I probably needed a little bit of sugar. I had been eating perfectly and my body was having a hard time adjusting to the fewer calories. I drove to a convenience store and bought an apple juice. Within a few minutes of drinking about a third of the bottle, I felt better. ( And I never drank the rest of the bottle. That was all I needed.) I certainly can't say that what I was going through is the same thing you are going through, but maybe try it. Of course you should always contact your doctor if something like this continues. Good luck!

    Old appetite is back

Don't worry. It took until my second fill (last week) until I felt any kind of restriction or suppressed appetite. And I got so frustrated when people would say "stay strong". That didn't seem possible. And sometimes it actually wasn't possible. It will happen. Don't worry. You might even gain some pounds back. Keep focused on long-term. This is a marathon not a sprint. Anytime I crave something sweet, I go to sugar free popsicles. For some reason, they don't taste sugar free and are only 15 calories. 3 popsicles obviously won't fill you up but they will keep your mind busy and only add 45 calories. Good luck...I'm not there yet either but it does get better.
  13. Quick background: (question at the end) Banded March 6. First fill 5 weeks later up to 4. No restriction at all and I could eat a lot of anything. Second fill this past Tuesday. Up to 5. Did one day of liquid followed by one day of mushy food. Thursday night and all day Friday ate normal food but could really tell a difference. Full after 1 cup. No problems. Yea! Then came last night. I ate a deviled egg. Chewed it like I should have but probably didn't wait long enough between swallows. Got stuck for quite a while and finally ended up getting sick. Took a drink of water about five minutes later and got sick on that as well. After that, I didn't drink/eat anything else the rest of the night until this morning at about 9:30 a.m. I ate 3 bites of cottage cheese. I chewed all of them well and waited to swallow. Then I had another sticking issue and ended up getting sick again. Last night was my fault. This morning I don't think I did anything wrong. Have I screwed something up? I'm going to wait a few hours before trying again, but I'm really not looking forward to it. Has anyone else had this issue?

    Second fill question

Great advice. . Thank you both. Tomato soup and a glass of milk went down just fine and got rid of my killer headache. Back on liquids for at least a few days.
  15. Is there pain /complications? Or is it as simple as you realize you are eating too much and not losing? I was banded 3-6. My first night of blended foods didn't go well. Terrible stomach cramps and guessing I ate too much. Didn't throw up but let's just say I was in the bathroom the entire night. (Sorry for the TMI) Since then I've had zero trouble... except I'm starving all the time and feel like I can eat way more than 1.5 cups. Have also caught myself eating too fast. I slowed down but then wondered why I didn't have a problem while eating that way. Now it's 1:30am and I can't sleep stressing that I did something wrong that first night. Amy input would be appreciated. Thanks!
  16. I have also chosen to keep my journey private. (For now) If anyone asks (and I haven't been banded long enough for anyone to question) my answer will be as close to the truth as possible. "I am exercising more/ regularly. I am eating a lot less. And my diet is as close to gluten free as I can get it. " I'm not ashamed. . I'm so happy with my choice and proud of myself for making a good decision. I just want to focus on what I need to do. Not spend time defending, explaining or educating. (I know that might sound selfish but when it comes to getting this part of my life back, I'm going to put ME first for a bit) That's why it's so nice to come here every day. I don't post often but I read everything all of you write. I get all my answers and more support and inspiration than you can imagine.

    post op day1

Before you try to sit up, grab and hug a pillow tightly while you roll over and then up. Helps quite a bit. Good luck!
  18. I'm only a week post surgery and still on full liquids but I can do more than sip without any problems. I drink water at the rate and amount that I used to. I'm with you though. Worried about vomiting and sliming. Hoping it's not something that is inevitable. Do want to let you know that while everyone is different, I've had very little pain with incisions, no gas pains, and was only sick to my stomach the day of surgery. Have felt weak and tired a few times but nothing too bad. Here's hoping things go as smoothly for you!
  19. Also banded 3-6! Have been lucky with minimal pain. Was hungry Saturday but now I think my stomach has just given up (which is fine with me) The strangest thing have been the food dreams. I wake up in a panic thinking I've eaten something I shouldn't have. Always relieved when I find myself in bed with no pasta in sight! (Is it sad I have lasagna dreams?)
  20. Power Crunch bars taste really good. Fewer grams of Protein than the bar you bought but still "good" as bars go. And like I said, you can't beat the taste. Have only been able to find them at Wal-Mart and Meijer. chocolate, vanilla and Peanut Butter. For chocolate bar. .. Calories= 205 Fat=13g Carbs=10g Protein=13g
