Who did your surgery Jenny? -
I think I'm having mild dehydration... Doctor said that my side effects seemed to match up. Did Or do y'all struggle with dry lips? They stay chapped! I have constipation also. Taking stool softeners. I've tried to do better.

I was fine with sweets in small portions and hummus. Happened with fried chicken. It was like a hot face and having to go right then... And for a person who struggles with the constipation side effect... It was a weird situation!

Before and After so far
rebecca61885 replied to rebecca61885's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
That gem was posted by my brother in law on Facebook! I wanted to die... He actually posted it on Father's Day as it was a group pic with his father. My friend just told me to take some group pics and post them to counteract it. It was a good idea and instead of being mortified by that pic I realized it worked as a before that I didn't have! Why would I have saved a pic that disgusting!?! Now I'm glad I have it! Thank you for your sweet words! -
I'm on month five and where is was seeing a pound loss every other day a couple months ago... I'm seeing maybe 2 lbs a week. I was feeling discouraged with the lull so I decided to make a side by side and it was the mental boost I needed. I'm excited to start exercising more and hope that it will pick up a little more. Sometimes reflecting on where you came from is the encouragement you need.

finally wearing shorts!
rebecca61885 replied to jskelly590's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm in a 16... Bought some Bermuda shorts... And I'm happy about that! My thighs don't look good... And to add to it I have loose skin hanging down. We are our own worst critics. I did however buy some pajama shorts for around the house and am wearing sleeveless in public! Soo excited for you! I know how awesome it is and I can't wait to wear some mid thigh! Congrats and jealous! -
Enjoying crossing my legs like a girl again!
rebecca61885 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's true that people take advantage of the small things in life. I read on here that some one just wanted to shop at Wal-mart. It's amazing to me that it's all about perspective and that achievements are achievements no matter how seemingly tiny. I can officially cross my legs like a girl. I also posted a full body pic on Facebook. Anyone else have things like this? -
I would like to see about doing clothing exchanges in the Birmingham AL area. I have a lot of 20/22 clothes and 2xl tops. I just want them to a home where someone will get use for them. I'm in a 16/18 now. I know how hard it is to keep up with clothes during this! Just let me know

Read this and share! Should be fun!

Just for fun... What is the weirdest thing someone has said to you during your journey? Maybe some weird advice, maybe something that they thought was a compliment, or whatever comes to mind. Think this should be funny -

This woman I work with (an older Indian woman) keeps saying that I'm " getting sexier and sexier" it's really weird -
So I gained a pound and it's stayed for a couple days. I'm aware I'm silly and have lost my mind caring over one silly pound. Keep saying that my scale may have misread when it said I lost it to begin with... I don't know. I haven't been eating a ton of food or anything so someone just tell me that it's no big deal and it has happened to others and that I will go back down again. I'm only 4 months out so I can't be done right?!?

Stupid freak out
rebecca61885 replied to rebecca61885's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for all of your advice! I took it.. Mostly thinking I wasn't getting enough liquids. I had a detox day and went back to the basics only. Anyways I lost 2 pounds so your advice got me out of the rut. -
I didn't read everyone else's posts so I'm probably repeating what they say. The stall that you are having is very normal. I had the same one. You are losing weight every day and it's like a high and then it stops and you feel broken. You're body is freaking out and going into starvation mode. I counted and was getting low calories like you. Do all you can to up your calories. I promise it will make you lose. Dedicate a day to try to hit 800 even if it is hard. My sister told me to eat candy (see I was freaking out)... Don't do that... I threw up very badly from eating cookies because I thought that was a legit suggestion. Even last week I had a stall.. I'm 4 months out... And I posted on here. Sometimes routine can make it happen so going higher calories one day can encourage your body to go back to losing! Good luck!

It's so true that food has a new meaning. It really is like just something you have to do. I have caught myself calling it consumption or that I consumed because I truly feel a disconnect. Meats become so good. Breads and rice are less enjoyable. Shrimp is good. I eat a lot of deli meat and cheese rolled up. Let me also warn that crackers are really good but a slider food and can be eaten easily which is bad! Enjoy the journey and be careful. Some things you will regret that they ever seemed like a good idea (mine was Hawaiian punch! Thought I was going to die!)

I'm 3 1/2 months out and I'm not going to lie... At times I just want to eat.. Like really eat! I was driving home one day and deciding dinner and had a break down because I just wanted to eat a plate of pancakes and not have to think about what can I eat. I used to always eat like it was my last meal and wanted to eat whatever I was craving and that's how I got to 280 lbs. but I will tell you this. That has happened a couple times... In 3 1/2 months.. All things considered that's not that much. Also date night is a very different experience but we still go eat where we want... Only now it's sooo much cheaper because I can eat some of his or get a kids meal. It's kinda awesome. I am saying all of this and it may seem like I'm talking you out of it... But here is the reality. Going to a normal store and buying a normal size is worth a million pancakes! I still eat "bad" things from time to time... I'm 63 lbs down. It's your decision but the benefits greatly outweigh the hard times!

That's ONEderful! I know ppl have already used that line but still couldn't resist! I'm 20 lbs away and I am so excited for the day to come! My start weight was 280 so taking me some time! Congratulations! And keep up the good work!

Any tips would be great
rebecca61885 replied to rebecca61885's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I work with 40 woman and I knew lying would come back on me. I tried for a while but I mean it all came out... I never miss two weeks of work so it was obvious that something was going on. I wanted it be not be on the gossip mill to long so I was pretty upfront to keep from the whispers as I hid an obvious change. Close friends know.. Facebook friends don't. But it's the parents of the kids I teach that are who I am concerned with. I am a professional yet still strive to be warm and approachable. I like the easy answers you gave and that might help me in the future. -
Ok, so I've hit the stage where people I see often can tell. Let me start with this. I am a teacher at a preschool and all of the staff I see daily know and are sweet and supportive. But I don't really feel the need to air it to all the parents in the center. I'm 65 pounds down and now have been talked to almost daily about it. Ppl being nice and asking if I've lost weight, saying I look slim, etc. It's nice hearing the feedback and I usually say a simple "thank you" but obviously with women we all want to know the weight loss secret. I hate the dreaded question "how are you doing it?" Like I said I'm not ashamed of my choice, but I chose to have the surgery to better my chances of conception as I've been trying for 4 years with no luck. I know I don't have to go into all of that but it just opens a can of worms and even just the surgery makes some ppl uncomfortable. Ok I'm rambling... I was wondering if anyone can relate and give me a few things to say. I've said "I'm just eating less and trying to be more aware of my food choices" ok guys help a girl out

2days after surgery major hickups
rebecca61885 replied to angie0187's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doctor said it's from eating too much or eating too fast. It really happened to me a TON at first. I was still learning and adjusting to what amount I could have and the slow eating. It gets way better though so don't worry! -
Ok I'm finally down to an 18 in pants which I plan to continue to shop at old navy, lane Bryant, and target for those but I'm now wearing an xl or even large in some tops. I go to those three stores and that's fine but I want to venture out some for shirts. I don't want to go to a store though that runs small and look silly or feel sad trying and not fitting. So I would love some suggestions for places that have xl that runs regular or even a tad big. Any help from ppl who already have explored

I went to the mall and tried on a large at Gap... It was too big (in that particular shirt) I ended up with a medium top... From gap... A real store! Holy crap! I'm so excited!
