August Sleevers Check In
truthinhiding replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
33 more days!!! I have a pre op appointment with my pcp, an appointment with a nurse practitioner at the surgeon's office, pre-op testing at the hospital, my EGD on aug 6th and last but not least my 2 week pre op diet starts aug 11th! I've received my letter from the bariatric center that I was approved and my surgeons office called with my approval today. I started this journey on January 6th this year at the information meeting at 375 pounds... Here I sit excited so much I could burst! I've had 6 visits with the nurse practitioner at the bariatric office, a psych appt, 3 group meetings, 2 meetings with the dietician and on the 26th of this month I've been smoke free for 4 months. I'm also down 85 pounds pre-op. I count my blessings every day for this opportunity.. -

August 26th is my surgery date... been really watching what I eat and exercising since the end of February. -
How many people lost a considerable amount of weight pre-op. I started the program in January at 375 and with cutting out all fried foods, sodas (and other high calorie drinks), just eating better and tracking my calories along with doing Zumba 2-3 times a week I'm 3 pounds away from losing 50. I know during my 2 week diet before surgery I'll probably lose weight too. My surgery date isn't until august 26th. I'm sticking with getting the surgery to help with maintenance and hope that it helps with my PCOS. Anyone else lose a lot pre-op??

Awesome!! I still have a few months. I was just looking at vitamins at cvs while I was getting cough meds for my hubby. Did you buy the vitamins yet? Didn't they say something about us not getting gummies? -

Weight loss pre-op

Right now I'm sticking with a 2100 calorie limit (I don't get anywhere near that) and exercising 2-4 times a week. I cut back on candy too.. Every once in awhile I get sugar free hard candy because I also quit smoking march 26th. There's a list of a couple fattening fried foods I want to try before surgery and I want to hit up one more buffet... Any who... I have a 2 week pre op diet it'll start aug 11th.. I took a pic of it from my book. -
Think last night I finally got someone at work to understand why I'm choosing to have the sleeve done. I started this year at 375 and with exercise and being mindful of what I eat I'm down 45 pounds... All before surgery. I've managed to lose 60 pounds back in 2008 but after suffering a miscarriage I gained it all back plus another 30. Anyways, people at work are noticing I'm losing and I've told them I'm getting surgery they don't understand y since I'm losing the weight now without surgery. I was talking to someone last night and explained to them that I want to be able to keep this weight off, that it's by no means a dangerous short cut and that it's not going to be easy. It'll be restrictive when I don't feel like I can be. Anyone else have this problem? 109 more days til surgery!!

Any nursing assistants who've had surgery
truthinhiding replied to blackbeautywaiting's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This surgery is not cosmetic.. That's quite ridiculous. I'm a "technical partner" at a local hospital. I do patient care, vitals, phlebotomy, ekg's.. The list is long. But anyways, I'm banking 3 weeks at the most. I know there's going to be lift restrictions like there was when I had my gall bladder out last July. I was out 2.5 weeks for that. I also have a nurse and unit clerk that had the sleeve and I believe they were out around 3 weeks. -

Intro - gastric sleeve in August
truthinhiding replied to LeeBee17's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am getting surgery in august, on the 26th. My insurance has a 6 month waiting period for the surgery. I started the year in January at 375 I've been watching my calories, stopped soda, fast food... I also started Zumba twice a week. I'm currently at 335 and doing well. At least this time I'll keep the weight off! -
August 2014 Surgery Date
truthinhiding replied to JuJuBee321's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone my surgery date is august 26th.. Less than 4 months to go! -
I today I was talking to a co-worker about my current weight loss. I haven't had the surgery yet but everyone knows I'm having it. I have no problems telling people but now I'm having a problem. I'm excited about losing almost 40 pounds since my highest weight in January. I went with what my dietician told me to do, stuck with tracking my calories, stopped drinking soda, I go to Zumba twice a week. I cut out all junk food... Anyways, I'm excited about getting the surgery in 4 months (from today actually) I'm one month smoke free, and still able to lose weight. To get to my point, today I had a second coworker tell me not to bother with the surgery that I'm doing well as it is without it. I'm currently 338 and started at 375. I want the surgery to help and to maintain. I've lost weight before, 60 pounds on south beach.. Then gained it all back, plus another 30. Has anyone else had this problem?

Things I won't miss...
truthinhiding replied to GingerSlim's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I won't miss thinking there's something wrong with my power steering then realizing it's my belly wanting to control the steering wheel. I really want to be able to cross my legs at my thighs and not just my ankles.. I want my fear of busting a chair every time I sit in one to go away... Someone mentioned sitting anywhere at a restaurant.. I agree with that one! I still remember having to sit at the end if a booth table in a regular chair.. In the aisle feeling completely fat like I was sitting at my own feast. I won't miss the constant feeling like everyone is staring at me or talking about me behind my back. I could go on but these are the things I dwell over now.. -
Back to work-Nosey co-workers
truthinhiding replied to menjaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also work in the healthcare field in a hospital. I have told pretty many of the people I work with and I get mixed reviews. I've been following a 2100 calorie diet since the end of February, stopped candy and carbonated or calorie filled beverages, also doing Zumba twice a week. Anyways, making a long story short I'm getting from people now that I shouldn't bother with the surgery because I've lost almost 40 pounds already. I've dieted before with south beach and lost 60 pounds but then gained it all back plus 30 after suffering a miscarriage. I'm getting the surgery in August, and that's happening no matter what people say..
