Good for you. It'll happen before you know it.

      Congrats!

  5. So many things to be happy about. I wore my watch for the first time yesterday in years, I got too big to wear it, but it fits again :) Also, yesterday, I was wearing a size 18 pants and my son said they looked too big. I didn't think that was possible cause I just bought them a few months ago, but he was right! Time to try a 16 and last year I was wearing a 22/24. SO EXCITING!

  6. Haven't checked in here for a while. I ended up with a herniated disc and had surgery on March 17th. I'm on the mend and down 63 pounds (Wednesday will be 16 weeks post op)!!!! Whoo hoo! So close to getting under 200 pounds. I weighed in at 212 this week. Highest weight this time last year was 301. Surgery day I was 275. Thrilled to be dropping this weight!!

  7. 11 weeks post op today and I'm down 46 pounds! I'm happy about this, but struggling with severe physical pain since Valentine's day :( I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow morning, but still won't have answers until the follow up appointment on March 5th. They think I might have a herniated disc!

    Anyone struggling with mental problems?

I think this is normal. You're reinventing yourself. You need to get to know the "new you". Try to change your thinking to view this as an exciting adventure or journey. I know that's easier said, than done. Start with just trying to notice your thoughts, try not to let the negative ones lead to more negativity. Know that you're not alone. I am only 8 weeks post op, but I've been feeling depressed lately. I've always struggled with depression though, so it's nothing new. Keep getting support from where you can and believe that it will get better!!
  9. Today makes 8 weeks post op. I started my journey at 301, on the day of surgery I was 275, and this morning I was 240.

  10. Tomorrow will be 8 weeks since surgery. I'm feeling fine physically, but emotionally I've been kinda depressed. Not sure if it's surgery related or just this time of year. Any thoughts??

R u exercising.. I know it is kind of hard to exercise when u feel down, but force yourself to do some walking. My personal experience is that when I get myself tired .i do get a little depressed..I then slow down and get needed rest. Hope u r feeling better soon.

Exercise this time of year is necessary for me to feel better.Right now, I'm doing 20 minutes a day on the elliptical, and it's enough.

Thank you all. I am on an anti depressant and have been for years, so this is not my first time feeling this way. I'm not exercising right now either :( I'm sure it would help if I did.

    Food

    Alcohol?

Maybe I'm not the best person to answer, but I'm going on 7 weeks post op and had my 1st drink last night. I did fine, but I sipped the same drink for well over an hour. Keep in mind that we are all very different and it could affect you differently than someone else. It's certainly not going to be a regular thing for me, but I was at a celebration and took it very slowly to see how I would handle it. Good luck making your decision and know that it is quite possible to have fun without having a drink
  13. Going on 7 weeks post op and my son brought home cheesecake today that he had made with his "big brother" during their outing. I was struggling with not being able to have any, but found support and I'm feeling better. Anyone have a hard time around your "old favorites"?

My husband brought home a huge bag of M & M's yesterday. I had to fight it and I almost caved

I understand about the M & M's. I was about to go to the vending machine at work when a friend called to see how I was doing since I was back at work. I told her she saved me from giving to a bag of M & M's. Thank God for a support system.

  14. Today marks 6 weeks post op from my bypass. I've lost a total of 54 pounds since the start of my journey. Feeling pretty good about this new life/adventure!

  15. Brand new here... hoping to find lots of support, encouragement, and information. Also, to BE a support to others!
