Regarding the comment on the calories burnt being "optimistic", FitBit is contemplating not only what you burn from activity but also an estimate of what someone your height and weight would burn just by being alive and breathing. Just wanted to clear that out.

The FitBit Force has a display vs. The light dots that appear on the Flex model. It doubles as a watch and the information about your daily progress appears directly on the screen. I like this as I use it as a time source. I may agree that perhaps due to wrist movements it may register "more" activity than the other model which is worn by the hip...

I got the FitBit Force last month and love it! I have been learning more about my activity levels and also about my sleeping habits. It has been a good way to set my goals and keep my aim high to stay active. As far as accuracy... I wear it all day and it may pick up some of my activity (that is not necessarily walking or jogging) and translate it into steps and even distance... but I do not sense such a great margin of error. It is great at sensing "active minutes" which indicate continuous cardiovascular activity... If I am walking I use it to track my distance. It is also fairly accurate at reporting "floors" when I take the stairs. Logging my sleep is a nice feature too... it probably also sets the FitBit into a mode that doesn't record steps or distance erroneously, and instead it logs if you have been restless or not asleep. The alarm feature is really great. It vibrates with sufficient intensity to wake me up. I really recommend it. There are many devices in the market right now, but I feel this one has been doing great by me. I also own the FitBit Aria wi-fi scale and it is great to keep track of my weight loss progress.

Day 2 of liquids and Im hungry
CarlosLG replied to Zoumommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the 11th day of my pre-op liver shrinking diet. It hasn't been as terrible as I thought, and have bee ln able to keep up with it and without cheating. I've been on Protein shakes and broth as my only source of nutrition. My surgery is on Jan 31st (only 4 days away)... can't say I haven't felt tempted to eat some "real food" or have had my sense of smell heightened when food is near. Trying to keep the eye on the prize on the last stretch. This week has been harder than the first one, but I guess the key is to stick to liquids (even if you might have to drink an additional shake or two.) thankfully I embraced Protein Shakes quite some time before even getting on the surgery path... I have to say it has paid off. I am bored of drinking only shakes, but boredom is not an excuse to go off-track from the goal we have... Trust me, I've craved eating meat or some other substantial food... But the truth is that is your head making you want things that are familiar and that you like. I'm taking a moment to vent here because today has been the only day so far I've felt cranky and have had a little anxiety / nerves since I'm almost about to get sleeved. I've lost 15 lbs in 11 days and that is probably the most weight loss I have experienced in such a short time, so at least that little victory is keeping me motivated and sane. hope everyone else on the liquid pre-op diet is holding strong and keep trucking to achieve their goals! - Carlos -

I am starting the pre-op diet today as my surgery will be taking place on Jan 31st. It is very interesting to read all your stories, as I can closely relate to them. I have prepared myself by learning to enjoy the Protein shakes and have incorporated them as a Meal Replacement for the last couple of weeks prior to the liquid-only diet that starts today. SnohoGal98296, your experience with the phentermine is very similar to mine. I had lost almost 40 pounds while on it over a period of 6 months, in conjunction with very healthy eating and 4x crossfit workouts... only to end up regaining the 40 lbs and an extra 25 when I became resistant to it. I wish the best of success to all on this journey! Carlos
