  1. I've been post op for a year now and I was really nervous to try a cocktail while at a Gala because I heard of all these horror stories but the results weren't the same for me and I haven't met anyone similar either so I wondered if I was the only one to only get a buzz for 10-15 mins, 25 max. If I drink anything sweet or tequila I get dumping syndrome, so beer and vodka with a light juice is what I can tolerate.
  2. Hi. I'm 1yr post op. I wanted to hear other post op's Alcohol effects. Wine burns my tummy and liquor gives me dumping and burns. Beer seems the only subtle drink but bloats me. If I do catch a buzz it's only literally for 15-20 mins

    Carbonated beverages

I'm a year post and I can only have few small sips. If it's flat I can bare a little more but who likes flat? I kinda of appreciate the restriction cause I don't want to stretch out my tummy with the bloating.

    Seeing results ????

Great job! It's true, stay with the diet, exercise and patience. You'll plateau but persistence will be key. Slow and steady will win the race ???? Best wishes my friend

  8. I'm Post Op Gastro and wanted to know who's had alcohol or mixed drinks. If so, what agreed with your tummy and what didn't. Thanks - dz

    Alcohol and Mixed drinks

I am SOO thankful for the insight and advice. I'm going for the weekend and is like to have a beer or maybe a cocktail but wasn't sure what's result would be. There was some good advice and warnings to heed. Thank you. No sugary drinks was something I didn't think of and getting the dumps would put me in the dumps for the weekend. I've had a couple if very tiny sips of beer but was too scared and haven't drank anything carbonated. But I'm looking forward to a delicious frothy one (that I will nurse ALL day) and maybe a bourbon or rum neat. I'll be sure to give you the details when I get back. Love the stories and thank you again for sharing

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

Wow! That's SO amazing to be able to eat solids. I try but can only get about an ounce. Chicken is good very little so I stay with soft foods still. I'm 6 weeks gastro bypass and puréed/soft are my friend. I've been mostly on a vegetarian diet but what I wish I could have more is.... H2O. I was excited I could drink 12oz within an hour! I burp and air gets caught if I drink anymore than 3 sips at a time. (Believe me I've tried and I have my watched alarm set) Congrats on those who can eat. Cheers!

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

Hi All. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op. I walked around and am finally up to doing normal routines. I pushed it too hard to soon with the walking and made my stomach sore. I had a hard time but am finally learning what is "full". My life felt better after the JP tube was pulled. Liquids are going down easier but I still can't handle more than 2oz at a time of food and I'm up to 3 sips of liquid then rest. I had the bypass with a hernia repair. There's a slight difference in the recovery but nothing major. In fact I didn't get any of the common nausea or throw up side effect that other have. I wonder if the hernia repair helped. I try to eat stage 3 foods but it's only made me really sick to my stomach. So I'm sticking with the puréeds. I'm looking forward to the long road of health and recovery. Best of luck to those who are going for surgery. It's been the best decision I've made and I hope it's yours too.
  12. I'm still learning from trial and error. But I don't skip a morning protein or my multivitamins.
  13. Thank you all so very much! I'm looking forward to the new lifestyle ahead. . It's been 6 days and I've already lost 10lbs ???????????????? I look forward to cheering everyone also!
  14. Hello and I love this forum. I received my Bypass Jan 13th and I'm finally feeling a bit better and functional. Obesity runs in my family and has been the silent killer of many loved ones. I didn't want to be another victim and after every diet fad, attempt and fighting a yoyo weight all my life, I made the final change! I've never even heard of this procedure until my partner discussed with me the Gastric Sleeve. She too was in the same boat as I and we decided to do this together. She's 6 weeks ahead of me but we have a great support system. I've already been baffled in my recovery but with an outreach question the ladies here have been most helpful! Thank you and Hello!
  15. Hello. I'm 4 days post-op robotic bypass and also had a hysterectomy. Last night after I was discharged from the hospital and at home I was awoken by bloody leakage as if I was on my period. It has been a year since my hysterectomy and this is something new. I only had a fever once and have been ok since. My blood pressure is low but I feel fine.y surgeon said he's never heard if this and is baffled. Anyone else had these symptoms or issue. I'm feeling a little more concerned. I also had a hernia removed and don't know if that's relevant either.
  16. Ok ladies, THANK YOU very much for the insight and input. The bleeding slowed and is now a light spotting. It's not the rectal and from catheter. It is vaginal bleeding but is believed that it could have possibly been a Cyst that rupture. I'm to monitor and a home care nurse will be visiting me. If it worsens I'm to go to the ER. I thank you so much and appreciate the advice/enlightenment
