  1. Today I started my purée diet. I had 1/4 cup (1 egg) scrambled egg. From what I've been told I thought I would feel very full. I didn't. What's wrong with me? :-(

    How long did Gas last.

And they specificially said don't use a straw because you end up taking in more air when you drink from a straw (not sure how) but my paperwork specifically says "no straws" on the no no list. Yup, no straws! It puts too much air in your "pouch" and causes gas and stretches your new tummy. :-)
  3. Yes, the mood and the emotions are very common for right after weight loss. It will get better.

    How long did Gas last.

I am 12 days post op. I also had gas in my right shoulder. My best advice is to walk, walk walk!!! It does go away, hang in there! It gets better!

    Day 3 and so uncomfortable!

It's great that you're feeling well! Remember your insides are still healing so if your job requires a lot of bending or lifting or even standing I would be careful about going back to work. I'm 12 days post op and sometimes still hurt when I stand in one place for awhile. Always ask your doctor. Good luck! Walk, walk, walk!!!

    Chicken broth?

If you can tolerate the chicken broth by all means drink it! Your insides are still swollen from surgery. Don't worry too much about the protein, getting your water/ fluids is more important at this point In a few days you will be able to drink much more. Don't worry about drinking too much. The liquid doesn't stay in your new tummy long but when you move up in your diet then you want to make sure you don't over eat and stretch your tummy. Good luck hon!

How often do you weigh yourself?

I weigh myself every Monday morning after I pee. The scale stays under the bathroom sink. Out of sight, Out of mind
  8. When was your surgery? I know it's tough especially the first 4 days for me! I was a frantic mess! I cried and cried! I would wake up and cry! I thought for sure I was going to have to go to the psych ward! Day 5 I was much better! Is a new life and it will take time to get used to it. Just hang in there sweet heart. I'll be praying fit you. Try to think positive! (((Hugs)))
  9. I was sleeved Monday, April 7th. The first 5 days my sleeve was swollen and I could hardly drink anything! I just sipped and sipped all day and I was so worried I would get dehydrated! by days 6 and now 7 I am drinking nearly all day! In fact I'm drinking so much I'm afraid that it may be too much! I don't want to stretch my sleeve in the first week!! and on liquids!!! Wondering if the sleeve is what I needed. ~sigh~ I drink, my Protein shake (only 1 a day as of now working on 2 to get my 60 grams of protein), Water, unsweetened tea, Crystal Light, and I eat sugar free Jello and pudding. I can only consume a small amount of pudding but jello I can eat a pretty decent sized square of. I don't feel full or if I do, I don't know it? Is that possible? A lot of times my stomach will be growling and my stomach hurts like its empty! This is so strange and upsetting. Anyone have any helpful advice for a new sleever? Thanx in advance, Jess xoxo P.S. Please be kind. =)

    MAJOR regrets

I'm so sorry for all the hell you've been going through. I know it's hell! I'm 1 week out of surgery and the first 4 days I was scared to death and regretting my decision! I literally thought I needed to sign myself into a psych ward! I thought for sure I'd never be able to get enough fluids in and I'd end up on an iv drop for the rest of my life! The surgery really does play a toll on your mental stability. I'm happy to report that I am doing much better. I'm now drinking so much fluid I'm concerned I'm drinking too much! I've stopped crying and freaking out. It really does get easier. Healing time is different for everyone. Everyone's journey is different. The thing that helped me the most was prayer and trusting in my God to take care of me. I'll be praying you start feeling much better and very soon. God bless you (((hugs))) Hang in there! Nothing worth having is ever easy!

    Scared with questions

Hey! When I began this process I was 332 lbs. I am 5'3". I had type 2 diabetes, High BP, sleep Apnea, to name a few. I am 1 week out of surgery and my diabetes and high bp are in remission! I have amazing blood sugars and my blood pressure is perfect! No more insulin or medicine for HBP. This is a life changing event. It is not to be taken lightly. The reason you are getting this surgery is to lose weight to get to your proper BMI and to be HEALTHY! If you don't change your eating habits the surgery will NOT work! You will have a hard time with the diet and when you can you will regain. Am I saying no, you wont ever get to enjoy the foods you like now? No, I'm saying you will want to make healthier choices for yourself. You could still have wings but MODERATION! and only every once in awhile. This surgery is a tool and not a miracle. If you don't use your tool properly it just won't work.

    Newly Sleeved, Too Much Liquid?

So when we move on to the puree diet we will fill full much faster and with less than what we are with the liquids?

    Newly Sleeved, Too Much Liquid?

msfitn2014 you're doing better than me with the Protein. I'm only getting 30 grams a day so far. I'm going to try and up it to 60 grams tomorrow. I will have a Protein shake for Breakfast (30g) and one for dinner (another 30g).

    Newly Sleeved, Too Much Liquid?

I'm glad I'm not the only one worried about this. Hopefully someone who has had the sleeve for awhile may be able to answer this for us. If not, I see my doctor Thursday and will report back what she has to say.
  18. ~sigh~ Also, the first 4 days or so I was an emotional disaster! I literally thought I needed to go to the psych ward! I'm not really sure why I felt so scared but thank God! I am finally back to myself. Note: I suffer from Major Depression Disorder (MDD) and Anxiety before my surgery so that also played a role in that situation I'm sure. My 2 week check up is this Thursday and I will have a list of questions and concerns for the doc. Walk, Walk, WALK!!! My nurse said that gravity plays a big role in our healing process. I'm not sure how but I walk a lot! and of course walking keeps your blood moving. I pray you start to feel better quickly and can get some much needed rest. Take care <3

What are the signs of a leak?

I think if you are concerned there is a leak test your doctor could possibly perform. I think you drink something and they x-ray, cat scan, mri?? something along those lines I believe. I'd also guess that you would be horribly ill!

    Anxiety!

Monday is my big day!! I'm so excited but I know as soon as Monday is here I'm going to start flipping out! Does the surgeon give you anything to settle your nerves? I already have anxiety but this surgery on top of my normal anxiety is gonna get to me. I'm going to be crying like a baby! Can anyone please bring me some peace about this? Thank you in advance. <3

    Anxiety!

Thank you everyone :-) I will definitely take your advice on asking the doctor for the anti anxiety medication in my iv!
  22. I go in Monday also!! I too am nervous! I'm exited but very nervous/anxious! Good luck everyone!! :-)
  23. So, I'm finally scheduled for the sleeve on April 7th! YAY! However, I'm continuing to research and I'm reading if you have acid reflex before having the sleeve it may not be a good idea to get the sleeve but rather the gastric bypass (RNY)! BOO! I'm so upset I'm sitting at the computer bawling my eyes out! Did anyone have acid reflex before the sleeve? did it get better or did it get worse? My acid reflex has been under control with Prilosec for a few years now but before Prilosec I would have terrible heartburn! I was given an upper GI where I had to drink this stuff and they would take x-rays of my esophagus. The test results had come back that I did show signs of having past heart burn problems. UGH! Wouldn't you think if it were bad enough results my doctor would tell me it wasn't a good idea for the Sleeve? Please, Can someone bring me some relief until I can get a hold of my doctor next week? Thank you, Jess xoxo
