Disney World bound-what to eat there?

Thanks for the info, I will check that out! I did read that they allow weight loss surgery patients to pay the child's price at buffets. That will be nice, since I feel like I am wasting money when we do eat out.
  5. I'm stressing about an upcoming trip to Disney World...what sort of band-friendly choices are available there? We'll be staying at the Contemporary Resort for 8 nights and I plan on taking my protein drinks, so breakfast is covered. Any ideas for lunch and dinner? :smile2:

What happens when the band is full?

I don't believe anyone gets their band filled to its capacity- you wouldn't even be able to get water down if you did. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

    When do you....

You should follow your doctor's instructions, and do not advance your diet. Your stomach must heal, and if you're digesting food, it's not healing properly. I was on full liquids for 2 weeks, then 1 week of pureed foods, 1 week of soft foods, and then I was allowed to slowly introduce solid foods. I was told that if you advance your diet too quickly, you risk not tolerating a lot of food later down the road. It was hard not to eat, and I couldn't wait for some cottage cheese in the pureed stage. There is a list of suggested foods on this site if it helps. Take it easy, you'll get through this healing period and be on your way!

    Help With List Please!!!!!

Liquid tylenol, and loose comfy pants, like pj bottoms. I had to wear my husband's sweats for about a week because the waist band irritated my incision sites. Good luck with your surgery! I had it easy, and am very happy I got banded. I'm already at my sweet spot, too!
  9. I'm a stomach sleeper as well...it was about 3 weeks after surgery before I could sleep on my stomach comfortably.

Realize Band vs. The Lap Band?

I have a Realize band and I had read a post on this site about how there is less port pain post op with the Realize band because of the way it's anchored (instead of being sutured like the Lap Band). I can tell you I believe it's true because I didn't even have to take Tylenol after surgery. I slept in a recliner for the first 2 nights because my chest felt heavy and I was uncomfortable laying in the bed, but I wasn't hurting. I was a little sore, but nothing like I was expecting. My biggest complaint was the 3 incisions right at my waistline- I wore loose sweat pants and pj's for a week. Oh, and one more- my husband bought me some band-aids without checking the package for a latex allergy warning- and I'm allergic to latex. I had more trouble with the blisters and rash from that than I did from the incisions themselves. I can laugh about it now.
  11. I was banded on March 17th, and my first fill is scheduled for Apr 16th. I almost feel like I did before surgery-but I emphasize almost. After I eat about 3/4 cup of pureed food, I am no longer hungry and often feel full. I know I am still healing and such, but I feel like I could eat anything right now, but I don't. Needless to say, I am confident that if I have some troubles with the band down the road, I could live just fine with it unfilled. I'd probably be fat and unhappy, but fine. I was a little nervous before surgery, wondering if I was doing the right thing because I'm on the lower end of the BMI scale. So far I have no regrets and I'm happy I did this. I feel like I am going to be in control for the first time in my life. Good luck with your surgery!
  12. 30 grams would be easy! My doc told me 75 grams daily. I just mixed a scoop of strawberry unjury with premade Crystal Light lemonade and it's pretty good. I have 2 huge tubes of nectar I'm trying to choke down. I started mixing 8 scoops of Nectar Lemonade with 1 tub of Crystal Light lemonade to 2 quarts of Water. I have found this combination masks the nasty "milky protein" taste of the Nectar enough for me to drink it. Has anyone tried mixing DiVinci fruit flavored syrups to Nectar? I might try that next.
  13. I'm leaving in about 10 minutes for the hospital. I have to check in at 5:15. I didn't sleep last night, a bit of anxiety mixed with excitement. I hope everyone has a safe procedure today!! See you all in bandland:thumbup:
