after i eat it really hurts

Yes, that happens to everyone I believe. I believe you will learn what foods your new stomach agrees with and which ones will get 'stuck' in your opening. Sometimes the food will not go down and your body sends it back out. Does not hurt, and it feels better afterwards. Just try to eat small bites, wait before your next bite so the food has a chance to go down slowly. If too much goes in at once, then a big 'ball' of food may get stuck and thus give you pain. I hope you feel better.
  4. Thank you for your reply. Good to know.
  5. I have had two fills, and I am at about 2.5cc in my band. Just wondering how many of you received how many fills and when did you feel that it was actually working and restricting the amount you eat. I am still eating quite normal with these two fills. I have a 10cc band and have a lot to go, but just wondering when does it get to where I can eat 1/2 cup of food only? I want to continue losing weight and I'm stuck at 20 lbs.

    Anyone else take Zoloft?

I take it and did not have to stop before surgery. You continue as normal. The day after surgery, you have to crush it up or break it in half. Then continue as normal, either crushing or in half. Hope this helps.
  7. I did the same thing - ate the whole thing of yogurt and a whole can of soup during my first week. Then I realized about the 1/4 cup only and I thought the same - did I enlarge my pouch by doing this? But I think if you tolerated the surgery well, your stomach is healing and you can handle what your body asks for. I would not worry too much, like I said before, I think only a few are able to do exactly what the orders say.

    I want to cry

I am three weeks post op and I feel I can eat just about anything, as long as I chew properly. You need to hang in there and keep eating good foods. When you get a couple of fills, you will feel restriction. The decision to get banded is a big one, and a positive one; dont feel bad that you are eating solids, because I would say a vast majority are doing the same - early! Talk to your doctor about it and remember it's your body and only you know your hunger pains. Hang in there! Its worth it just for your health and those who love you.
  9. Hello, I was told by my dietician and weight loss manager that a previous patient ate a hamburger within two weeks after surgery and had a slippage. She was in the emergency room fearing she was having a heart attack. So, the dietitian always uses that story to scare new patients from trying to eat big solids right away. It apparently is painful and you will know it for sure! I have cheated too; I feel little restriction and I can eat just about anything that is well chewed. I hope this helps. Vanessa Banded 08/08/07

    How sore was your abdomen?

I also had a c-section and I can tell you the next day it felt about 1/2 as bad as the c-sec. I could get up and walk (I had to) but felt sore in the upper abdomen vs. the lower. It got better every day and recovery is much faster than w/ the c-section.
  11. My husband was banded 08/15/07 and has not had much to eat/drink due to his nausea. He can sip a little bit a at time, but cannot drink much of the nutrients he needs. He as lost 24 lbs. since he started his pre-op liquid diet (two weeks) and wants to know how losing 24 lbs in two weeks can affect his body negatively. They say losing weight too fast is not healthy, but he has not had a choice. He is now taking prescribed anti-nausea meds and can start eating a little more, but is concerned about the effects of losing too much too fast. Any thoughts?
  12. I feel just how you described. I can eat scrambled eggs, and just about anything. I am hungry and tolerating this band really well. I just wanted some security in knowing I was not stretching my pouch by eating more than what is recommended, but I guess we all can eat and tolerate food differently. I am just one of those who can progress through faster. My husband was banded a week ago and he still has trouble swallowing water and broth - gets nauseus often. He has lost 24 lbs. since the liquid diet before the surgery and it's not a healthy loss. I, on the other hand, can eat more than allowed. I guess everyone's stomach is different. Thanks for your answer.
  13. I was banded on 8/8/07 and did not suffer much. I am on my second week, and dr. said I could proceed with the next phase, eating creamy soups. I have not had problems swallowing and find it difficult to only eat 1/2 cup. I have eaten the whole can of soup - chunky soup. I process it fine, no problems there, but I am scared of what it might do to my pouch. Will eating a whole can of soup at two weeks post op expand my pouch? Is the expanding reversible by, let's say, eating only liquids again for a week? What can I do since 1/2 cup does not cut it for me?
