Another one who thought u meant the silicone-rubberband-that-makes-me-love-life-more-every-day. So who knows what I would name a music band. I cant sing or dance, or play any instruments, so maybe I would name it The UnTalented Escapades.....Hmmmmm........Something to think about....8)

OK....So I am NOT pregnant. Thank goodness. I went to my surgeon yesterday and he said that if i was pregnant, he would have to empty the band immediately. UGH. So he sent me straight for a blood test. Negative. Relief. Now i can focus on ME. ME. ME. He also told me if I'd exercise, my weight loss should DOUBLE!!! Well HELLO, let me get off my a$$ and get to biking. Hubby went to pick up his mom's bicycle for me....SOOOOO now that I have all that in the past, pills, pregnancy scare....I can now move forward. The wonderful holidays are coming and I am willing to bet that if i focus on my weight loss I can be down to 200 by December. I went and did some clothes shopping today....16/18.....straight from a 22. How cool is that? My birthday is next week so I am sure I will be getting some gift cards for clothes....not so miserable shopping anymore. So I am going to focus on accomplishing losing my 19 pounds. 200. Thats only 30 pounds more than I weighed when I got pregnant 6 years ago. Hehe. I love it. LAPBAND ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

Thanks ya'll. Yeah its too early for a test. Guess I will have to wait. We will see. Either way is good for me. 8)

Hello, lap banders. I have a story that i NEED to share. I need support from every aspect of my life and you all are one of them. I broke and dislocated my knee cap 2.5 inches in June 2004. Yes, ouch. Major surgery and recovery. Obviously I was prescribed pain meds. Percocet and then vicodin. For the 1st 5 months i needed the pain meds in order to walk and recover from my fall. But for the last 10 months I have continued to take these pain meds with the dosage increasing weekly. A doctor kept presribing them and i kept taking them. In May when i was banded I said no more. Then i took more. Then in July when I got a fill, i said no more, same thing in August. Well that has not happened. I am up to between 8-15 pills a day, sometimes less but never have had more than that. When i first started it was 3-4 a day so i am sure if i didnt get help it would soon end up being the 30-40 a day that i read about on line. Well my point is that tomorrow I am going to a drug rehab for opioid detoxification. It should be about 5 days that i will have to spend there. I am scared. I have 2 small kids that i will miss dearly. And my husband. This addictive personality runs in my family and i am glad that i am able to recognize that i need help. I am scared and excited to be free of this habit. I just wanted to share. It makes me feel better. I am very concerned about my band. I was also taking vicoprofen which have 200 mg of ibuprofen per pill. So I dont know if that has hurt me. I guess when I have recovered I will discuss it with my surgeon. Maybe it didnt affect it since i have had no bad signs with my band. My band has NEVER been free of main meds since i got it. It was mostly vicodin though, one prescription was vicoprofen. So i dont know. Just wanted to share my story. Please keep me in your prayers and help me to have the strength to beat this quickly and effectively. Thanks for listening!

Girl u need to do whatever u feel best for you as a person. You obviously have health issues that u are hoping the lapband will help. People should not judge. Even though they do, and can be so cruel. Good luck. Send me an email if u wanna chat!

Well I am home again. I went there on Tuesday afternoon. I cried for about 4 hours. I even signed a right to release paper. i wanted to leave, even if i was doing the right thing. Well they gave me some stuff called methadone to help relieve withdrawal symptoms. I took that Tuesday, wednesday and thursday am. I decided that i was feeling well and refused 6pm methadone and thought i'd see how i felt. Well i was fine the rest of the night, no withdrawal syptoms. So i refused again the next morning. Now even though i refused, i could get it any time i felt i needed it. Well I felt fine, and they let me come home yesterday. I met some amazing people, did LOTS of group meetings and counseling. AA meetings, NA, even attended a CA, which is cocaine anonymous, just to hear the stories of the people there. Amazing the lives people live for so long. It was a heck of an experience. i could have been any of those people who went from pills to alcohol to worse. I will NEVER even touch alcohol again even if it was not my addiction. I missed my kids, but thank God they were fine. Thank God I didnt become worse. I feel very fortunate and I thank you all for your support. I am done with pills. God Bless you all and Thanks again.

I dont know if our own stories can help you cope with your own. My own mother had malignant mass in her side the size of a very large grapefruit. Dr's said she had a 20% chance of making it through this. This was 14 years ago, and she is here with us now. Medicines and doctors are miracle workers. You and your mom are in my prayers.

Ok so i got a fill today. I have the large vanguard band and as of now I am filled to 10. Only my second fill too. My 1st was to 7cc's. I felt some restriction but not as much as i could. I have lost 7 lbs since the last fill on July 18. He hooked me up to the flouro and all and watched it at 7, then addes 2 more and it passed right through. he added 2 more, my chest got tight and he took one out. that left me at 10. he thinks it is perfect. i drank a yougurt with no problem. what if it gets all the way filled and it isnt restricted??????

Ok I was got a fill on monday. Today is Thursday and here i am sitting waiting for Little Miss Hurricane Tropical Storm Katrina. Am I crazy or does the hurricane make me feel more restricted? My chest is so tight and i cant get anything down without tightness. My imagination or is this a possibility?

I was banded May 31 2005. I had my 1st fill in my Vanguard band to 7 cc's July 18th. I have lost about 5 lbs since my fill.I had some restriction in the beginning but it seems to have gone away. BUT i am starving. I can eat too much too often. I dont get full enough. I am trying to schedule another fill. I am ot sure if it is the right thing to do or not. Guess I will find out. What do ya'll think?

Yep with flouro. I think surgeon said it holds 11 point something.

Hello, so i went on Monday and got my 1st fill. I have the large Vanguard band. It was empty before the fill. He did the adjustment with flouro and we watched it on the screen. He emptied it first, although it was already empty. He then filled it with 5 cc's and made me drink yucky stuff. It went down very quicly. So he added 2 more cc's bringing me to 7 cc's for my 1st fill. He made me drink more to be 100% sure and then sent me on my way. So that leaves me with one heck of a fill!!! My question is, when will i know if it is too tight? Would I know by now? I can drink and eat some soft stuff but this morning my chest is feeling VERY tight! Is that ok? I need some advice. And I am leaving to go away tomorrow for a long weekend. So i wanna be sure I am not too tight!

I had my 1st fill today with a Vanguard band. My dr put in 7cc's. We started out with 5 cc's but when we watched it go down, it was still very fast. So he went up to 7, we will see how it goes!

Ok so I live in South Florida and Dennis grazed us. NOW there is Tropical depression 5, probably will be Tropical Storm Emily. THEN there is something coming off the coast of Africa!!!!! Well I am scheduled for my very 1st fill the 18th and i NEED it desperately! AND I am leaving to go to the west coast for a little mini vacation on the beach. UGH these things are getting old. Now dont get me wrong, i do understand that these canes are affecting people in much worse ways, as they did us last year, I am just tired of them!!! I wonder if there is a hurricane dance........to make them STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! Thanks for letting me vent! Happy Monday to ALL!

Hey, looks like Emily is going to MEXICO!!!! SOrry Mexico 8( Well both of my girls are pretty sick, so I am hanging out at home today and probably tomorrow too! High fevers, and the whole 9 yards!
