Bariatric Fusion Chewable Vitamin & Mineral Supplement
pamie40 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had my surgery yet (hopefully by end of month), but I met with my nutritionist for the final visit yesterday. She went over everything I would need to know for after surgery. She said I would need to take 2 Flintstone Complete Vitamins, Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D 3-4 times a day, Vitamin B-12 and Biotin daily. My sister had gastric bypass surgery last year and her doctor only has her taking fusion chewables 4 times a day. I looked at the bottle on line (www.bariatricchoice.com) and it seems to have everything that I was told to take. Does anyone else take Fusion? I would rather take just one thing than all that other stuff. -
My last thing that I need to do before being approved by insurance company is to get my cpap machine and see the pulmonary doctor on Tuesday. At first, his office said that I would need to be monitored for 30 days before I could even be approved for surgery. When I called my surgeon's office, they said that as long as I had initially seen the pulmonary doctor and was using the cpap machine, they would send request for surgery in. I did not have to wait another 30 days. My question is, how does the pulmonary doctor monitor you on the machine? Can they take readings on it while I am at home? A bit confused! I am praying I get a surgery date of early April! Fingers crossed!!!!

I have not had my surgery yet. I had a sleep study done two nights ago where it was discovered that I averaged 12 times an hour where my breathing would stop. My sister, who had gastric bypass a few years ago, told me they would not do the surgery because of this. Has anyone who has had the surgery had sleep apnea? I thought the surgery helped with sleep apnea. I think she is just being a little spiteful, although I have not idea why!

Hiatal hernia and pending gastric bypass surgery
pamie40 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my upper GI done this morning and found out I have a small hiatal hernia. I am hoping to have my gastric bypass surgery in another month. Has anyone who has had bypass surgery had a hiatal hernia too? If so, were they still able to perform the bypass surgery by laparoscopy and still repair hernia? I am so afraid I will have to be cut open for this bypass and the recovery will be even longer. Ugh! -
My original first appointment with a bariatric doctor was February 26th. I received a call from his office today asking me if I would like to move that to Monday, next week! Certainly a no-brainer! I said yes! When I went to the seminar back in December, the doctor said that because I have gastric paresis, this qualifies me with no high BMI or co-morbidities. Has anyone else had this surgery that had gastric paresis? Were you still expected to lose the 10% first over a period of months?
