HELLO, any oldies out there? I'm almost 63 and want to live.
NM Sunshine replied to FatAttack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Kat817 You're real lucky to have not lost any height. I recently had a bone scan and found out that I have Osteopenia. It may improve with medicine, weight lost and excersize, however I'll never get those inches back. My kitchen was made for a very tall person. Luckly my DH is 6' tall. I'm calling him all the time to reach something for me. Also a kitchen stool does wonders for my height. -

How is weight loss for people over 50?
NM Sunshine replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, this is what my surgeon says about the pre-op diet The pre-op liquid diet is the same as the post-op liquid diet. You should follow it for eight days before surgery. It is not a critical component of this program but it is important. It is designed to shrink your liver, but more importantly it gets you accustomed to the diet that you must strictly follow after surgery. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> -
How is weight loss for people over 50?

bonniep:welcome2: I am yet to be banded. My banding will be on Sept. 11, not long now. From my point of view is that the band is to help us lose the weight we need to lose but most important the band is to help us keep it off. Many of us have dieted down to a goal weight (I have over and over again). But once we start eating again we gain all the weight back, usually even more weight. -
Anyone heard of Dr. Francisco Gonzalez in TJ?

Marcylink Brrrr Nome is cold. I loved Alaska. But, the winters are tough without the sunshine. You have the really cold dark winters in Nome. But you got the Northern Lights. I almost peed my pants the first time I saw them. I watched the night sky in Alaska and first saw a whitish globe that looked like an alien spaceship or something. Then the waves and colors began to dance out of the white and soon the whole arch of sky was covered with dancing colors. AWESOME! My DH was the manager for telecomunications in state of Alaska. Anchorage is MUCH easier to live in than Nome. DYNAMO thanks. What sort of art do you do? Bandster Art League sounds cool. I'll read that article you URLed. -

Crab Cake I checked out that medicine that helps you stop smoking and it blocks the dopamine (pleasure) recepters. Wellbutrin and other antidepressents may work on increasing dopamine. They would be working against each other. Not sure on any of this, just suposing. -

Kat I'm 5' tall. I was 5'2" years ago, but, three collapsed disks in my lower back sort of shrunk me. I'd love to be tall. Will settle with being thin again instead. My goal weight should be around 105. I have about 83 pds to lose. LOL on outrunning friends hubby. I'll try to find that before/after thread -

sorry about all the screwups in my post. I wrote it in word then pasted it into the message box. It looks like aliens are writing instead of me. -

Betsyjane<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> The Lifestyle Lift sounded like the perfect answer to me until I read the posts on the URL I sent you. Now it scares me. It seems to be possibly a lot of hype???? When it came to the old fashioned facelift everyone was much more positive. Also Thermage seemed to be great until I read the posts on it. It was even worse than the Lifestyle lift. WOW, what does one do??????<o:p></o:p> Green… heck I’d like to get some of those cute little cheek apples, I’ve been looking at cheek implants, they are gorgeous. From what has happened to the US dollar, it probably is about the same as the Canadian dollar now. $24,000 that is a lot of money to come up with but I bet you will look great and a fine treat to give yourself for all the hard work you have done. Go for the Nicoban and if you have a Walmart store they have a generic that is cheaper. -

Lap Dancer CONGRADULATIONS, you are strong. So glad to hear that you set your boundaries and didn't let them pull you down. The Greek cafe sounds wonderful and to treat yourself with a Greek salad. You're learning to love yourself. I am happy to hear that. I find more strenght in the people who understand where I am at and whose hearts are for the best for me. That is what I have also found here. This trip (surgery then the letting go of food in a harmful way) is hard, damn hard. People here understand that. Good luck to you. -

Kat That Goldwing soounds like the cat's meow. Fun. My ex and his new wife are really into the Harely thing. They're quite arrogent about it. My boyfriend (I call him my DH) use to own a Goldwing. He took many great trips with it and loved it. If you ever come to the Festival here, there is camping all over the Gila. We may be able to put you up. I'm completely amazed that you have your BMI down to 27.6. -

Kat817 Sorry to hear about your friend. Mine still uses crutches. The Blues Fest here is in May, Memorial day weekend I believe. It lasts for 2 days. It is free. The first day is mostly blues rock and the second day more blues & folk. We have at least one big name each year. This year was Odetta. So many bikers come that a whole street is blocked off just for the bikes, seem to be almost all Harleys. The fest is a really big deal here. -

Betsyjane I just researched LifeStyle Lift and found this forum. It is a must read before you get the Lift. It is full of happy/unhappy people who got the lifestyle lift (about 50/50). Also you can find out which surgeons to stay away from. http://www.realself.com/plastic_surgery/face-lift/lifestyle_lift.html -

skinnydippn42 Hi and welcome. I had never heard of the LapBand until several weeks ago. I did research on it and found this forum. Now I have a date to get mine done on Sept 11. This forum is loaded with information. Check out the thread on doctors and hospitals. Gives you a good idea of the good and not so good. -

Betsyjane What is a Lifestyle Lift? Green, That is how I gave up smoking ( I still chew it). CONGRADULATIONS on the face lift. I figure all that hard work losing weight deserves a facelift to top it all off. Let me know how it goes. What does it cost in US dollars? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
NM Sunshine replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Lap Dancer I can really feel for you. I’ve been in therapy for years , dealing with the issue of abuse. 6 years ago I divorced my abusive husband after 37 years of marriage. My grown kids are still emotionally abusive with me (that is how they were raised). Some of the important things I have learned about abuse is that your mother had no right to read your email (abusers do that sort of thing). And your sister is a brutal abuser , screaming like that to over the phone. They both gang up on you. This will be difficult but you must never explain to them or apologize to them for emotionally abusing you. Cut them off is the answer or learn how to not get pulled into their games. But don’t feel guilty for doing it. Their actions are intended to hurt you and show no respect for you. I use to wonder why my husband who is suppose to love me acts like he hates me. I just never could get that one figured out. Follow the voice in your head. That voice told me for 37 years that I had to leave my ex. Do you keep a journal? That may help a lot, just make sure your mother doesn't get a hold of it. -

NICNATNUT That is a sad story. I have a friend whose Harley was hit by a school bus and he is now minus one leg. Kat817 Have you heard of the Silver City ‘Blues Festival”? Bikers from all over come. I live in Silver City. -

Short c Again I’m confident that I made the right choice. There were so many choices and I had narrowed mine down to Dr. Ortiz or Dr. Gonzales. I just happen to go with Dr. Gonzales. Also I will be going to DR. G for my fills. 15 days until banding. All these good stories help soothe the nerves. -

Does Thermage only last a couple of years? Or is it that natural aging happens? I know with a face lift our faces still age. I am researching this on the net. I'm astonished at some of the full facelifts I have see.
