rinny11 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I had thyroid surgery many yrs. ago because of a goiter, I've taken thyroid meds. ever since. Has anyone had the RNY surgery after thyroid surgery? -
Hi all, a lot has happened since I posted last. I had shoulder surgery , 1 week post -op, pain is winding down, and starting to feel better. We had a huge shock 2 weeks ago , our bariatric surgeon notified us that he was retiring ASAP., no more appts. No more program, but thanks to Aurora Hosp. They picked up the program, hired a surgeon, and had their first meeting all in two weeks time. I'm still waiting to get my April appt. so that there is no skipped months in my file. I hope you are all doing good, getting out and enjoying the nicer weather. Keep in touch with your progress. Stay safe, live long ,be happy

My surgery is on the rotator cuff which was also torn by a bone spur, I also have arthritis but he said it may not get any worse once the spur and cuff are repaired.. If the arthritis gets worse we can address it then. That is a big relief. 4 weeks in a sling then I can start physical therapy, I should be good to go for bypass by July? I'm glad to see all the gang is still alive and kicking. LOL. Take care ,be happy love life

Thanks for the info Ikm96h, I appreciate your help, it was a bummer to have this happen now when I'm so close to my bypass but I accept what I've been given. Thanks again, let's us know your progress, and how you are doing. Stay safe, be happy ,love life

Hi Pquinn and everyone, I haven't beenon the site lately ,trying to get everything done before I get my shoulder fixed because it sounds like I'll only have one arm for awhile. I'm still going to do bypass as soon as I heal. I have all my requirements done and Dr. Is going to submit to ins. on April 7. I wish I could do the bypass first but I'm experiencing to much shoulder pain, little sleep and a crabby attitude. Pquinn ,I 'm with you ,I'll be a better buddy ,I promise. You keep me posted and I'll keep you posted. As to what happened to everyone else, I thing spring is getting everyone away from the house and enjoying the outside. Stay safe, be happy, enjoy life.

Hi Everyone, I might need shoulder surgery and I'm wondering if this will interfere with my bypass surgery. I will have all my requirements in on April 7, but I'm thinking shoulder surgery will be before April. Has anyone had a similar situation?

Thanks K, I wrote it down to use after my surgery in early summer. What brand of protein powder do you use?

Hi All, just wondering if anyone knows why it takes so long to get approved for surgery? Why do we have to jump through so many hoops at our age.? Sally ,I'm so glad that you keep it honest on your recovery ,it gives the rest of us a clear picture on what to expect. Thank you . Stay safe, be happy, love life

Welcome Ambpete , you are not alone, we are all apprehensive and second guess ourselves before surgery. Go back to the first page of anyone over 65,ad you'll meet wonderful people full of support. Read the last post from Sally, it will help . We are here for each other and 68 is the new 48. I'm 67 due for surgery in early summer and I look at it as just a number thanks to all the support. Stay safe, be happy, live life.

Hi Everyone, did anyone find a way to get liquid vitamins? Was it easy to get your meds in liquid form or did you just crush them. I'd be interested to know how you handled this. Also I'm starting a rebellion against winter ( all our southern friends can stop reading) , so anyone that is sick of winter find a ground hog and cover his or her head! Then we have no worry ,can't see his shadow if his head is covered. Stay safe, be happy, live long
