    Stomach Rumbling

I am 7 months since surgery and I still get occasional rumbling. My stomach did it a lot at first, probably the first three months. It really is embarassing! But, people understood!
  5. I actually have no idea if that was what the problem was, but for me I plan to be very careful next time. You will probably be on liquids after your surgery so you shouldn't have a problem. I would certainly ask your doctor about it. Just be very careful.
  6. Thank you all for your replies. I am now a week home from my flight and the problem has gone away. So, for me, I'm going to be cautious next time I fly.
  7. Anybody out there ever have a problem with their band after flying on an airplane? I just came back from a trip with a 4 hour flight each way. I started having a problem on my trip after the first flight. I get almost everything caught in the band. The only relief is to lay down and the problem goes away quickly. (I can actually feel and hear the food move.) I figured it was because being out of my normal routine and comfort zone, I was really hungry and didn't pay attention to taking small bites and chewing fully. But, I'm starting to wonder.
  8. I was banded 12/3 and told to cut all my diabetes medications in half. I was taking 5 Metformin, 2 4mg Amaral, and 8 units of Insulin per day. A month later, my doctor took me off the Insulin. I am now having a problem with my blood sugar dropping way too low, so I am going to try dropping the Amaryl and see how it goes. So, the answer is yes! It works to help with diabetes.

    liquids while eating

I've found it so darned hard to not drink liquid with a meal. In Weight Watchers years ago, they taught us to take a bite then sip water alternately. The things they've learned since then! My problem is I have a very bad habit of eating my food very hot and needing water to cool my mouth off. My husband thinks I will finally learn to stop doing that. He thought burning my tongue a zillion times would teach me too! I think the real learning curve will be the lapband. So far, it's working!
  10. Does anybody have a lot of stomach noise since banding? I can understand some of the noise from my band opening some burping sometimes, but my stomach and intestines make a lot of noise. It's usually after meals, maybe an hour or so.
  11. My BMI was 36 but I have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholestoral and other issues related to weight. So, my reasons for the surgery weren't just about looking better. A few people were surprised that I was doing this because they didn't think I needed it. But, those people didn't know about my other medical problems. Everyone has been totally supportive. Diabetes runs in my family and it scared me to have it continue out of control. It's now in control and my doctor is very pleased. I hope you get the support you need from your husband and from this forum. Go ahead and do it. Do it for you.

    Lapband & Hot Tubs

My doctor told me no hot tub, but I assumed it was because of the incisions. Now that they are healed, I am using it again. It's a question I keep forgetting to ask my doctor. Please post your doctor's answer when you ask.
  13. I had my surgery 12/3 and I'm still having a hard time sleeping. I don't do well sleeping on my back so I fitfully switch back and forth from side to side. But I have quite a bit of pain when I lay on my side in the area where the band is. Just wondering if others have pain laying on their side.

    Countdown to Onederland!

I'm bouncing back and forth from Onederland! It's like a tease. I've gone down to 198 and back up to 204 then back again. But still it was sure nice to see that on the scale, something I haven't seen in 30 years. Good luck to all of you.

one month out, first fill, can still eat!

I'm finding the same thing. I was banded 12/3 and started eating regular food last weekend although I'm still kinda eating mushie type foods. But, I have certainly pushed it, even eating potato chips and crackers (old habits die hard) and certainly eating way too much! My first fill isn't until 1/16 so I'm working now to cut back what I'm eating so I don't have a shock then. I think what you're experiencing is normal, sure seems to be for me.
