I have been overweight since I was a child. When I turned 50 I discovered I had diabetes. I also had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. It stands to reason since I wasn't taking care of myself and lived a sedentary lifestyle. It was a gallbladder attack that introduced me to Dr. Hanna and his suggestion that although I wasn't overly obese, I might qualify for lapband surgery because of my other medical issues. I did qualify and there was never a question in my mind whether or not to have the surgery. I had been overweight so long and it played such a role in my mindset that I wanted to see what it was like to be different & normal. So, 2 years later, I've lost 50 lbs and although I'm in much smaller clothes, I look much better, and I feel much better, I still have that "overweight" mindset. I'm working on it. It's been a long 2 years and a short 2 years. There's never been any looking back or regrets for me.
