Oh, and I used the PB2 Chocolate to make a sauce for some sugar free ice cream one night. It's literally only something i've had once since surgery, but it was so good, and dispensed with that dessert craving immediately!
-
I stir it with a tiny bit of water into a soft cosistency to dip bananas or strawberries ro other fruit in. I add it to shakes, and also use it to make a version of chicken Satay sauce for a treat. It's even good to dip fruit into it dry I think.

I"m the same way about working out Moxy! I started a c25k app which I love, and then my hubby started it, so we could do it together...hmmmm. Nice he's wanting to get in shape, but I actually like the quiet of jogging or working out with just my mind drifting, tunes in my head and no conversation except my own self telling myself that I can do one more rep, one more block, one more--whatever. Anyway, we do the walk/jog thing together sometimes, but not all the time. I still much prefer the gym as a solo experience - definitely! I do however love my fitbit, and got him one too. Now we check in on each other's progress and cheer each other on that way too. And hey - great job on your weight loss, and with two small kids? WOW!

Back from vacation, and now 228.5 lbs. (Darn - I was 227 yesterday somehow!)

In clothing terms, it's called a french seam. It's not that uncommon but his naming it and claiming it might be. My surgeon (Jeffrey Landers) does that with all of his Group Health sleeve gastrectomies too. I was glad to hear it! BTW, no complications or problems at all, and I'm now 3 months out.

I love them, double chocolate chunk is my favorite. My daughter just told me that Quest is coming out with protein crisps (like Potatochips) and they also have a peanut butter cup. She said its great, just not the same as Reese's.

I'm absolutely the one who runs like a herd of turtles through peanut butter! Those are great!

Anyone having the sleeve in april?!
katesuccess replied to jacquelynndiaz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm envious everyone seems to be losing more than me, i'm just hoping it's from starting at an earlier date or higher number -- i'm frustrated anyway. ON surgery day i was 277, and now 235, so down 42 since surgery, 52 since pre-op diet. I eat under 650 calories a day and around 70 grams of protein, and man it's hard. I exercise 6 days a week, alternating a strength training routine (not overwhelmingly hard) and a Couch-to-5k app plan on my phone. I"m on week six of that now, and i actually do like it, much to my surprise. I sure thought I'd lose more though. I asked the NUT and the doctor and the RN assigned to the program, and the NUT said to up calories to 800 (I did that for two weeks, lost nothing!) and the doc and RN said to keep close to 600 and it would come off. Yeah - well, it's darned slow in doing so it feels like. But i'm still happy with the surgery, at least the numbers are going in the right direction. -
SO I'm still on vacation without a scale, but I got home for a couple days and weighed myself and had lost a pound. One lousy freaking teensy pound. Argh. I'm working too hard for such slow loss...but loss is better than gain. I'm 235...I think.
-
Aurgh!!! A week later and no weight loss! I'm still 236...yes, after four days of backpacking, I"m still at the same freaking weight. Oh well, I had a GREAT time and no accidents or injuries or problems. I'm a happy girl...but of course I'd have been much happier with a few pounds off! Sigh.

Back in town today and SO glad to have a scale again! Today's weight is 236.

Good for you! I downloaded an app onto my phone that takes you from "couch to 5K" (there are a lot of them out there, mine happens to be called 5K Runner) and I have to say it is great! It starts out super easy and gentle and doable and gets increasingly more challenging. You only do it every other day so that your body has a chance to rebuild between walk/jogging days. I too am planning to do a 5K, and even at my pretty highway of around 242 or so, i'm finding it less daunting than it was before I began this program. There is a thread going on the fitness section about couch to 5K too. Good luck, you can do it!

I did reply when first set up, but in case that was too early, I'm in! sW 242, Goal weight 225 (edited from original slightly less realistic goal!)

I'm in, and thanks for doing this! Starting weight is 242, Labor Day goal is 220.

even after all this time... struggling with the whole "you eat like a bird"
katesuccess replied to CowgirlJane's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm amazed and irritated at the things people will say to me about my eating too. And okay, offended. That they mean well doesn't much change this, manners and decorum and boundaries are still expected, at least by me. Recently my sister who knows all about my WLS has been telling me I should be eating more, pushing food on me, talking to me about her "knowledge" of how much our bodies need more things that I'm eating. She's advocating large portions of veggies, little treats, drinks I can't have, and lots of carb-laden starches I choose not to eat just now. I've told her my eating plan and keep reiterating the doc, nut, and RN's advice, and she of course persists, all the while complaining vociferously that she's just GOT to lose 30 pounds (yes, she's overweight). I hate that she keeps doing it and she's not any sort of medical or dietary trained person - just pushy and likes to know all. If it weren't so irritating I'd have laughed at replaying the whole thing yet again the other day. I've decided now I'm just not going to do anything to means sharing meal time with her for a long while. It's not her or anyone else's business to "fix" my eating! And hey, for once it's not even broken. One more "Have some...." or "Is that all you're eating?" or "That's not good for you to eat so little!" and I swear I'll lose it. All these years I've been not just obese, but "morbidly obese" she's championed any eating plan I attempted, this one included. And this just feel like sabatage. It is definitely NOT okay. CowgirlJane - you're right on the mark with this one! -
I really need the same help here! Miralax was so vile to me I could barely gag it down. I got Milk of Magnesia, which worked the first time, but not after that. Maybe I need to up the dose? I swear I only have a 'movement' maybe once a week, and that's while i'm taking daily Dulcolax gel and Benefiber. My doc said to get a psyllium husk version - but I literally couldn't drink the whole thing with my sleeve. Maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of it at best. Aurgh!! At the RN's suggestion I tried probiotics and they did nothing for me, so after two weeks i quit them.

April 16th role call - who's with me!
katesuccess replied to Bluesea71's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1) Height / weight starting our wls programs: 287 2) Weight day of surgery: 277 3) 11 week post op weight pounds lost/gained: 35 lb lost since surgery (Mine was 4/29 so I'm only 9 weeks out, and crashing this April group because there isn't one for my date! Hope you all don't mind too much. ) 4) Goal weight:145 5) Your biggest success this week: Continuing exercise and eating right in the face of a longish stall--and then seeing the scale finally move! 6) Your biggest struggle this week: Planning interesting meals within (reduced) calorie and (increased) protein needs--while not buying too darn much food. -
There's a great and EASY recipe for roaster garbanzo beans on the site Theworldaccordingtoeggface. I don't even like G beans, and these rock. Protein, crunch, flavor, no refrigeration--add some extra seasoning though.

Post surgery bowel movements?
katesuccess replied to AnEMal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was day 6 or so too (and felt not-so-good on it's exit!) - and that was with taking a dulcolax gel every day! I still do that, but I swear i'm lucky if I have a bowel movement even once a week. I know there's fewer calories going in and less waste created, but it surprises me still not to have that more regularly (no pun intended). But as far as post-op, that's totally normal, don't sweat it unless you're feeling constipated or in any pain - in that case call the doc as soon as possible in case you have to wait for something. -
I can't tell you how much inspiration I have drawn from your postings, and how much you've helped me on this journey already - and then to see your beautiful self in pictures today - WOW! You look amazing and happy and healthy and delighted, and well you should be. I might add that the handsome man with you looks mighty proud of you too. Well done RJ!!! and again, thank you!

April 16th role call - who's with me!

That's great Somsgal! I'm so happy for you! I tried upping from 600 to 800 for 2 1/2 weeks, occasionally hitting 850, and it wouldn't budge. Then dropped back to 600 and it's moving again! Three pounds in the past few days - phew. I'm so relieved. I will up again though in a week just to keep my body guessing. I think that we DO go into a stasis and at least my body seems to get stuck. Congrats on getting that moving again! -
Revision on Wednesday
katesuccess replied to Butterflysecrets's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm sorry about that too. It is not unheard of though to go from sleeve to bypass. I was complaining about my weight loss stall and asking worst case scenario questions, and he said if I got to where I just could not lose, they could revise sleeve to bypass. -
Conflicting advice from my Pros--what's a girl to do?
katesuccess posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My weight-loss has slowed to a ridiculous crawl the past three weeks, and I am logging everything eat, exercising six days a week (alternating days with strength training and cardio + 7000 steps each day) and presently I eat 800 cal per day, getting 60 to 70 g Protein and 60 to 80 ounces of Water each day. I eat no grains, potatoes, Pasta or bread, only protein, fruits, veggies and occasional Protein Drink or bar if I am in danger of not getting enough protein on a given day. Thursday I had my two month checkup with the doctor and a follow-up email with the RN about how to move my weight-loss alone and break the slump. Their recommendation was to continue my exercise, and add one or two days a week of super intense longer session activity as a jumpstart, and also to drop my calories down to 600 still focusing on protein. Okay, I'm willing to try that. Today I was at my support group, which is run by a team of actual medical professionals, some of whom are joint staffers with my own doctor's office. We each talk about how we're doing, what we are working on and how, etc. When I mentioned this, their advice was much different. They consider my exercise routine to be too much too soon, and said to back off of that, and raise my caloric level yet again. (on their advice I had already upped it from 700 to 800 calories two and a half weeks ago, in an attempt to break this stall back then--no luck!). So, one team says more exercise and fewer calories, the other team says more calories and less exercise. Maybe I'm looking for a tiebreaker opinion, but seriously – what's a girl to do!? -
That's fabulous! And you look so beautiful Ava!

Conflicting advice from my Pros--what's a girl to do?
katesuccess replied to katesuccess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like that site too jajmj, and even printed out recent weeks to take to my last doc appt and when I saw the nut. They just asked a few questions about what and how many macro-nutrients, and we went from there, but it's wonderfully helpful to see where I've slid into bad habits! My nut had advice that made sense, but so did my doc and the RN - all of which were in conflict with each other - groan. I opted for a combination of my doc and RN who runs the program (18 years with it!) and FINALLY after three days of reduced calories and a couple days of insane exercise levels, I lost a pound. Phew! I"m not willing to keep that up daily, and so will swing up on calories again in a few days to keep my system from adjusting to the new low, as the nut said.
