Is anyone out there from Kentucky?
kyangel replied to carmillejoanita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my lapband done by Dr. Geller and loved him. He has never came across unprofessional and I most impressed how he spends as much time as you need during your visits. My surgery went great and I would recommended him to anyone. The program at Nortons has been a wonderful experience for the beginning. Good luck. -
I finally heard from Norton's regarding my paparwork. They left me a message voicing they were currently looking at my paperwork and will be calling me within a week or so. Of course, I do not know what "or so" means. I had called them to tell them that our insurance is changing companies and I want to get something done before the first of the year. I do not know if the new insurance will pay. Going from Humana to Anthem.:boink: Hopefully you will hear from them soon.:xena_banana:

how long did it take to hear from the Norton Bariatric once all your paperwork has been turned in?

I just got through listening to a Dr. Robert Rutledge video on Failed Lap Band: 10 years later. He states that after coming on the scene in Europe 10 years ago, the surgeons that were do 20 lap banding to every 1 gastic bypass is now doing 1 lap banding to every 4 gastic bypass done. With the lap banding begin only approved around five years ago here in America, he voiced that he is seeing more and more increase failure of the lap banding with each year from implantation. I have not had my lap banding yet. I am going to a seminar on the 17th. Did your surgeons go into any information regarding the long time effect of the lap banding with you?:help:

playmate2b Which doctor did you decide to go with, Dr. Geller or Dr. Allen? I am going to look beyond the St. Mary's group as well. Do you already have a surgery date and if so which hospital are you going to?

playmate2b, whom have you decided to do your surgery?

PA......I go a seminar Monday night with Dr. Lusco. The office told me that they will get all my information on Monday and I would hear something in about a week which is when I will make an appointment if all is approved.

I am going to a seminar with Dr. Lusco. I have Humana PPO through GE. I am hoping for a smooth ride for approval. I have been overweight all my life. I have done weight watchers three times, south beach diet three times, herbalife as well as try to manage it on my own. I lose then gain back plus more. I now have high BP, cholestrol and low sugar. My lower back hurts along with my joints. I really need to do something because of my health.

Thank you for your response. I know that you have to be very careful upon researching to not get be clouded with opinionate information. I know you guys probably have heard of this doctor. I have talked with a plastic surgeon that I work with whom gave me encouraging news of really good new statisitics that has come out concerning the lap banding. He is going to get me the article. I am looking forward to the seminar that I am going to attend on 9/17. I am 5'6'' at 242 pounds with a BMI of 39.:omg: I turned 44 today and a new person is coming out. I am so glad I have found this site. I have learned alot just reading the one on one experiences from individuals that I feel will be guided me down the same road you have just traveled.:car: -
I am in the process of looking into the lapband procedure. I am going to a seminar on the 17th. I have always struggled with my weight all my life. I was the "butterball" used in PE class. :think I have done weight watchers three times with one of those time losing 90 pounds. Of course, I gained that back. I have also done south beach x2 and herbalife along with cutting calories on my own with failure. :faint:I am getting ready to turn 44 years old and it is getting harder to lose the weight. Being a nurse in the operating room, I am on my feet all day and boy do I ever hurt when I get home! I feel like I am 90 years. I have high BP and Cholestrol as well as low sugar. My joints and lower back hurts to high heaven on most days. I have to do something for my sake as well as for my husband and children. I am nervous, excited and sacred all at the same time. Wow, what an emotional roller coster this is. :omg: After finding this website and reading some of the threads, I know I have found a group of people in whom I can count on for support down this new journey. I am concern about the thinning of the hair, drinking the "nasty" Protein liquids (if it smells or tastes bad, boy I am in trouble), not drinking during your meal and making sure I get the required daily protein. :help: When I look at the pros and cons, I need to get back to quality of living. Thank you for listening to the battle of the bulge in ky! :hungry:
