Will I be able to get rid of my CPAP machine?
inittothinit replied to Bandista's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I ditched mine about 30 lbs in! Do you snore? My wife was able to tell that my snoring was just about gone. So I went a few nights without it and felt great. Presurgery, if I went a few days, I would be tired in the afternoon and feel like napping. Once I stopped wearing it I was fine so I figured I am cured! The stats show that almost 80 percent of apnea is resolved even with moderate post surgery loss. -
Really? Cancer? What a dou**che. Have you ever known or seen someone die from stomach cancer? So you'll commit to some bulls&@t lie and even covet people's sympathy because you want to avoid explaining yourself? what a tool! You'd rather get pity than scorn? a***hole!! I chose not to tell anyone and just say "diet and excercise" and if it ever really got pushed to someone prodding for answers, I'd tell them to mind their own business. But you are a scum**ag to even think to use something as horrible as cancer as a " little white lie" to explain away WLS. Seriously douchey!!!!

( as I patiently wait for a drink to quench the thirst from my pan seared spice rubbed shrimp dinner that I just made and ate!......but OmG it was a divine creation...!!, yes, they do have a lot of sodium, but really, how many pickles can a sleever eat? Not that much.... Sounds like a joke...how many sleevers does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Only one, but you have to wait 30 minutes before and after turns ...yuck yuck

Does the sleeve absorb less meds now?
inittothinit replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so totally unscientific and I could be completely wrong, but I think the opposite is true. I take a prescription sleep med and while it used to take 20 minutes or longer to kick in, post sleeve, it's full on in about 10 minutes. I believe that pills are partially dissolved in the stomach but absorbed in the small intestine. Smaller , emptier stomach means that the pill hits the small intestine quicker. -
"a fair amount of people revise to DS from sleeve"???? Uh, HUH?????? can you support this with some facts? and as to your question, I ended up deciding on VSG and dropped almost 50 lbs in 5 weeks and have been taken off all of my meds.......and the sleep apnea is resolved as well. Your doctor will be the best adviser, but make sure they perform all the surgeries so they are objective about which one to recommend to you.

I had severe apnea for the longest time. I was tired all the time and took naps every afternoon. I went for a study about 2 years ago as a result of CAD. sleep apnea is very dangerous and contributes to coronary artery disease. I started wearing the mask and noticed a huge difference. I had VSG in February and have lost almost 50 lbs to date. the apnea is GONE. no more mask. I believe I read somewhere that apnea resolution is somewhere around 75% for post bariatric surgery patients.

Traveling, need some food suggestions
inittothinit replied to mandavander's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lots of good suggestions. I am traveling right now and can addd some suggestions. There are some companies that make premixed tuna in an envelope pouch. 100 calories as I remember. Also small canned chicken with pull tab tops. Neither needs refrigeration and you can slip them into your carry on. I pretty much always have some in my travel bag so if I get back to hotel I have something I can eat. I'm not really ready for fast food or even going to get something healthy from fast food joints..... -
where are the male sleever stories ?
inittothinit replied to bigjoe59's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
hey Joe, I got sleeved 2/24. The hardest part is the preop and all goes with it. Once you get to the other side, it should be pretty smooth sailing. One of the biggest things is that you will more than likely never feel hunger again like you do now or have felt in the past. I am still amazed at little hunger I have. And even when I do get anything even remotely like hunger, a little bit of water or few mouthfuls of food and it's gone for several hours. Of course the flip side is that you cannot imagine what full feels like now for me. No matter how full you've ever been in the past, full post sleeve is FULL. I have had to learn to really pace myself because that extra few bites is the difference between full and OMG it hurts. I have lost 40 lbs since preop diet/surgery date. ,my snoring and apnea is gone. I've been taken off all meds. It's friggin awesome. You may feel a little"small" as the weight comes off......I am so used to being the big burly guy that as the weight drops off, not so much anymore. But my goal is to keep hitting the gym hard to keep some pretty good upper body size. -
horrible pain after eating
inittothinit replied to ydnic62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10 bites? Yes, that's a lot:) I think your expectation of how much food you can eat this soon may be a bit high. The purée doesn't go down the same as the liquid you have been eating. My rough recollection was about 5 oz. of liquid and when I went to solid about 2 ozs at most. And that feeling you are getting is fullness! I have had to really learn how to pace out my bites so I get a heads up before I add one too many bites.for me , the difference between full and OMG, this hurts is about 2 bites. -
Yum! Anyone try these yet? P3 protein pack.
inittothinit posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just ate one of these for lunch. I tried to attach picture. It was perfect for lunch. They have 4 different kinds. I paid about 1.50$ last night at Target. Anyone else have any experience with these? -
Serious Question; Overracting or Right to Be Upset
inittothinit replied to TheOldMeAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I just had surgery and went through the whole process. I have to be honest, the rest of the support system in place gave me more information than the surgeon did. Don't get me wrong, my surgeon did a phenomenal job......but I still kind of view him as the specific part of the process who actually did the deed itself, so I was comfortable with his support team( PA,nurses, etc) handling all my other needs and questions. -
Very light headed- is this normal?
inittothinit replied to cinthysline's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's amazing how unique our journeys are and then how similar they can be as well. I am 2.5 weeks post op and have also been getting dizzy when I stand up.........I came here and did a search and it looks like others have had the same issue. That puts me at ease. It seems like so many issues that arose and occur during this journey are somewhat common to all......the website really prepares and answer a lot of questions.... -
I Dont Think Ya'll Are ready for this.
inittothinit replied to HotButterFly's topic in Rants & Raves
I'd like to meet the person who penned this letter so I can smack their pompous, condescending face. The writer makes some gross assumptions about how and why the "fattie" is overweight. Maybe you guys see some sort of latent inspiration in this story but all I see is someone who is trying to explain their bias and stereotypical judgement of a "fattie" I don't think the "fattie" wants, deserves or needs support and inspiration from some self serving patronizing "skinny bitch" -
Who do you tell? Read this first!
inittothinit replied to Bluesea71's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had every intention of telling no one but my wife. I was able to keep it like that until about a week after surgery. it was her birthday and we had some close family over. I found that even though it was my intent to keep private, it put my wife in the position to have to "sell" my lie or deception. I decided that it was not fair to ask her to have to do that for people who are so close to us. I also told 2 couples that we are extremely close to. I will continue to not share my experience with casual friends and colleagues and I also think my wife can adhere to that position as it relates to casual friends and extended family......I am at peace with how I am handling it now -
Pureed Food? Nooooooooo.....
inittothinit replied to Aunt GG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also 2 weeks out. I am eating a scrambled egg as I type.......and I had a small amount of snow crab last night. no problems here. I am pureeing some soups just to be safe.....but no problems here so far. -
I'm pretty sure my sleeve just said " yea...uh, no...I don't think so!"
inittothinit posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, so I am 9 days post op......cruising right along on full liquids. No major problems other than the expected. The last couple of days have been good, no real gas......the normal, expected bowel movement..... So I got home a couple hours ago and used the bathroom, no problems I am making a homeade turkeypot pie. I make a good roux and also had some very homeade turkey gravy in frig( think pudding at room temp......like I said, very homeade) I Am adding this gravy to the already made bechamel base. I decided to taste the sauce.....few mouthfuls...hmmmm good. I had a few mouthfuls of this turkey gravy.....yummy....... Finished putting the pot pie together.......and then it hit me....... Oh lord........."please let me make it down my hallway" I head down the hallway which now seems hundreds of feet long....on some sort of weird straight leg duck walk......hang a couple rights into the bedroom and then the bathroom.(and of course turning requires bending the legs which brings butt flinching to a new level).....I'm happy to say I made it.....but OMG .....it was, shall I say, an explosive situation. Was this my sleeve telling me it is in charge and not to even think about trying to send it something it's not ready for? Or just some weird coincidence? It just seems tough to imagine that from the few mouthfuls of sauce and gravy to the relief were only 10-15 minutes tops...... -
Post-op hospital stay
inittothinit replied to KBlood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got out last Wednesday....... It really wasn't that bad... Definitely walk....and also Bring Chapstick. The time goes quick. And you won't be hungry. It was a relief to get in and get this done after all the preop build up... -
I'm pretty sure my sleeve just said " yea...uh, no...I don't think so!"
inittothinit replied to inittothinit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no, I've read someone had a puréed cauliflower problem and an egg problem. I planned on making these staples in my diet!,,, oh well, I will have to wait to see how it plays out. -
I'm pretty sure my sleeve just said " yea...uh, no...I don't think so!"
inittothinit replied to inittothinit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I had some sugar free cheesecake pudding last night....and some cream of chicken yesterday....and they were all side by side in frig and generally the same consistency......so I figured eh......why not a few teaspoons...... -
Good to hear it went so well! Hopefully the next few weeks go as well for you!
-
I was sleeved on 2/24....... Yep, gas is normal. I use 2 gasx strips and that really seems to help.
-
I thought it was just me! Did they do any tests at the ER?
-
Me too! What gives?.... It's like swallowing a golf ball if I try to take more than one little sip........please tell me this gets better

3weeks out, calorie question?
inittothinit replied to Zoumommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fish sticks, she was asking about calories post op. Your profile shows you are still preop......... 1000 calories in puréed stage would be pretty unlikely to achieve without some seriously dense/fatty food
