My surgery is tomorrow, so excited but also scared !!

I am having surgery in another city this coming Tuesday and will stay overnight at a hospital and then have 5 days to do nothing but recover at a hotel. The next week I'm attending a work conference in the same city at a nice hotel/resort. It will be good for my recovery as I'll be sitting in on talks and such (better than my normal active daily work activities). What should I bring for this trip? food wise and not. I'm going to bring Protein powder for sure as I'm worried about my access to the right types of food post op. My dr doesn't require a pre op diet except for the 1 day prior. Any help is appreciated!

Spring Dixie, keep us updated on what you find out. I'm taking out a loan to pay for my band , it's $10.5k. This is in Arizona.

That much for a fill? I thought they would be $150 or so, that's the quote they told me at my drs office in AZ. I haven t had the surgery yet but am self pay.

Slinkie did you have pre op bloodwork this far in advance ? I've had nothing and won't have any lab work done until the morning before the surgery.

I am scheduled to get banded on Feb 4th and am trying to do as much research as I can prior. Are there some foods that will be off limits forever after getting banded? I love sushi but have read that sticky rice is a no-no, is that true long term ?

I am scheduled for surgery in early February. I am having the surgery done when I travel to Arizona for work. This is on purpose so that no one knows I am having the surgery. I am single, almost 30 and a professional. I am ready to make some real changes in my life and don't think it's anyone else's business. Perhaps I am also afraid of failure and don't want family or friends to witness that.

Thanks for the description on the Green zone and banister hell! So sliming I think I'm starting to understand what that is but is it a regurgitation or just the slime feeling in your mouth or what? Can you not really eat anything when this is happening? I am not 100% sure how my aftercare will go. Likely I will see somebody in my home area which is Philadelphia rechecks and fills. Dr. Simpson will recommend somebody I was told by his surgery assistant.

What was your bandsters hell like? Does this happen to most people?

My surgery date is feb 4th! My doctor said no food or drink after midnight the night before. Very interesting , though to be honest I don't know if I could stick to an all liquid diet for that long so kudos to those that have !

Thanks for all your help and advice. Yes I am going to Dr Simpson! As much as I hear what most of you say, I still feel my decision to keep the surgery a secret is the right one for me. I will stay the night in the hospital. I will put down a family members name and contact info in case of an emergency. My aunt and uncle live in the city so that is a back up. I will visit them four or five days after the surgery anyway. I am wondering if people will comment on my new eating habits after the sx. I think they will think I'm just trying some new diet or have gotten more willpower along with my New Years resolution to get healthier lol !

Can you describe what green zone means ?

Congrats! I am 5'4 and 240, BMI 41. My lowest weight in the past 10 years was 185 and I felt amazing. I am so excited to potentially get down to 160-170 in the next year or two with the help of the band. Can't even begin to imagine how healthy that will feel !

I am having surgery on a Tuesday and my week long work conference starts the next Monday so I will have time. I have some family not too far away so if needed I can spill the Beans so to speak and have someone close by to help. So don't worry I do have a plan b , but am trying to get all my ducks in a row so plan a works

What does it mean to have plication in addition to the band?

Sorry hit send too soon Am I crazy to do this in secret ? Anyone else have a similar experience? I am not sure how complicated this will be when I need a fill. Do most surgeons put some in right away? Also, what is the green zone I have seen people refer to?
