Hi, I had at least 6 fills and now I have very good restriction but then it's not even been a week. I actually have 9 cc's in a 10 cc band and for some reason I never seem to be able to keep my restriction for more than a week or two. Dr. Fill :tongue2: says that he thinks this one will do it. So far it's been good so I guess we'll see as time goes on. I am also curious as to how much is in your band because maybe he gives you a tiny amount each time and you're just not there yet.

Slim fast has a lo carb/hi Protein shake. I've only seen chocolate and vanilla. They taste pretty good. They're called "Slim-Fast Low Carb Diet" and I've only found them in Rite Aid so far. Protein: 20 Carbs: 6 Fiber: 4 Calories: 190 Sugar: 1

You lost your sweet-spot. Oh no, it's time for a fill. How long until you get hungry?
Alfie replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just had a fill yesterday bringing me to 9 cc's in the 10 cc Inamed Band. I have gotten fills, gotten restriction, lost restriction, lost weight. gained weight. At the times that i did have good restriction, I would stay satisfied for at least 5 hours. I think my major problem with restriction is that my doctor follow a schedule for fills that in my opinion is too far apart. I would get a fill and for like 3 weeks would be great then lose my restriction (completely at times) and begin to gain the 10 lbs or so that I lost. Yesterday. Dr Fill  says that he thinks that this one may be the one. Before this, at 8 cc's I was able to eat an entire "diner" wrap. I was getting full quicker then pre band but not enough to lose weight. -
Hi Sandi, That was happening to me too a while back with the acid reflux. I wound up sleeping in the recliner for a few days while taking Prilosec and eating late is another big culprit which of course can't do anyway:frown:. As far as the other bigger problem which is that you can even swallow a sip...get thee to the emergency room if it last more than a day or two. Doesn't your doctor have someone filling in for him or at least an answering service? Or find someone that can give you an emergency unfill. Some doctors will but a lot won't unless you are their patient.

POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
Alfie replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know you must be frustrated. I am in a similar boat. I am 5'11 . Before I even looked into lapband I was 310 lbs. I had lost 15 lbs so when I went to my first appointment I was 295. Then, the doctor put me on Optifast and over a 5 week period I lost an additional 21 lbs which put me to 274. I had my surgery on 1/23/08. And now I am 272. If I counted all the weight I gained and relost since my surgery it's probably about 50 more lbs. I had so many fills but typically only kept my restriction for a week or so. Two days ago, I had another fill bringing me to 9 cc's in a 10 cc band. Dr. Fill  told me that he thinks this will be the one. So far I'm still on liquids for the rest of this day so we shall see. I think you just need to keep getting fills until you get to the spot that stays. -
hi there. Can you explain a little more about what you mean?

Hi Nance, I feel the same thing that I never felt before and thought the same thing..that it was some sort of hard growth. This thing that I feel is right in the center about 2 inches below the center of my breasts. I do believe it's the band and didn't mention it on here because I figured people would think I am crazy. My port is about an 2 inches above my bellybutton right above my long incision. Maybe I'll ask the doctor next time.

LapBand 07/07/08-Got Fill; Still hungry???
Alfie replied to ecolvin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hi Ecolvin Well, I was banded on Jan 23 and didn't have very much restriction until my 4th fill...Not even that it was wonderful...5th fill was wonderful. In have 7.5 cc's in a 10cc band. Now, I am very restricted as long as I follow the rules of protein first, veggie next and starch if there's room (usually there isn't). You'll get there!! Regards, Alfie -
Hi I like your analogy of the flat tire. I agree with it. I was banded on January 23 and actually didn't have much restriction until my fifth fill. I am at 7.5 in a 10 cc band and I finally am feeling a lot in control of my eating. Hope that helps. Regards, Alfie

Hi there, the thing is that from my experience (and of course everyone is different) it is not that easy to control portions without a fill. For me, not having the right fill feels like I don't have a band and it is very hard for me to control my portions just like it was preband which got me here in the first place.

Hi Teanne, I happened to be eating a salad when I came across your post. I am able to tolerate salads very well. I just have to eat really slow and chew chew chew! I have fairly good restriction although it fluctuates at times.

Need reassurance about when I will feel restriction
Alfie replied to michiganer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I just got a fill this past Friday. I am now at 7cc's in a 10 cc band. Well, this morning my husband and I went to the diner and I had 1 scrambled egg and a cup of grits. I was satisfied but not totally full but enough to grab control of my appetite. Also, it was a bit more than a cup because the grits was close, if not actually a cup then the egg made it maybe a cup and 1/4. The band is working for me as a tool as I have more control but I believe another .5 fill may bring me to the "ever elusive" sweet spot. Regards, Alfie -
Hi my throat gurgles too. It gurgles when my restriction "gets tighter for no apparent reason" and yes it's typically in the morning or late at night but not in between...go figure!

hi, that is normal what you feel as some people feel the same. It will get better as the days go by and definately the advise of the other banster about protein shots, carnation instant breakfast etc will be a big help. Also, slim fast sells a low carb, hi protein shake. So far, I've only found it in Rite Aid. All the best to you. Regards, Alfie

Your food plan of choice.
Alfie replied to tekymom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Monica, I really wish I knew how many carbs I have in a day. I'll tell you what I ate yesterday. Breakfast: 1/2 cup cottage cheese 1/2 banana Lunch: 2 pieces of Baby Bell Cheese, a peach, and apple (I was on the go; normally I have Protein and veggie for lunch.) Dinner: 6 oz salmon w/ frozen stringbeans and brocolli, fresh summmer squash (about a cup) all cooked with some lemon juice, dry mustard and Adobo. Snack: 2 oz cheddar cheese. I don't weigh or measure anything but the measurement are pretty accurate...(from practice from going on and off Weight Watchers:rolleyes2:) Can anyone tell approx how many carbs I had?:tt2: -
Your food plan of choice.
Alfie replied to tekymom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I go for low carbs, but not no carbs. I basically stay away from bread, cookies, candy. cakes but do have some complex carbs. I am not super duper careful for example, I had chicken with broccoli from the Chinese restaurant for lunch today which I'm sure that the sauce has simple carbs in it but I won't do that often. -
Hi Ladybird, Did he say why? I can eat jello, but don't like it.

Hey Bloo, Did you know that International Delight makes a sugarfree one with 1 carb per 2 TBLS and 20 calories? How many carbs in the Fat Free one? Regards, Alfie:biggrin:
-
hi bloo, Do you make it with sugar free hazelnut? I started making them at home too and am totally addicted. I also usually dump in the SFH and use 4 Spenda's and put the whole thing along with ice cubes into one of those quart containers that you get from the chinese take out places. I've been using Folgers 1/2 caffeine. I also am sort of doing low carbs but I do have a fruit in the morning and veggies with my other 2 meals..no breads, cake. cookies basically no refined sugars. I feel great!

Hi Saima, Oh ok, then you definately need a decent fill. I hope that you will get it and get restriction soon. Regards, Alfie

Coughing, Reflux & Regurgitation out of the blue
Alfie replied to laureen123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Laureen, I started to get the acid reflux too and woke up in the middle of the night with a mouth full of vomit. For me, taking Prilosec for 2 weeks and most importantly, no eating at least 4 hours before bedtime seems to have solved the problem. Hope you feel better soon. -
Help - my pouch is dilated!!!
Alfie replied to BonJosie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi BonJosie, My bff's son in law had the same thing a few months ago. He also got a complete unfill for about 3 or 4 weeks and now he's fine. He did gain a few pounds back but made sure he kept up with the gym to keep it at a minimum..Hope you get back to normal very soon!! Hi Lady Blue, I feel your pain with the heartburn coughing etc. I have 6.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. About 3 weeks ago I had such terrible heart burn. I'm 54 years old yet I never in my life before had a moment of heartburn...it's so gross...One night I spit right into my pillow...disgusting. I wound up taking Prilosec for 14 days and it just about cleared up. I especially have to make sure I don't eat anything close to bedtime. -
Hi Saima, You don't have any restriction most likely because you just don't have enough saline in the band. I had my surgery after you on January 23 and am about to have my 5th fill next Friday. Actually my restriction is pretty good so I may just go and see him but not get a fill. Any reason why you have not had more fills to build you up to restriction? Do you know how many cc's in how big a band? I have 6.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. Regards, Alfie
