HELLO, any oldies out there? I'm almost 63 and want to live.
FatAttack posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've just begun my quest into banding. They say the break-off age point is 65. I'm almost 63 and need to move fast. Us 'oldies' want to live and know that the excess fat will shorten our lives. I've been checking all the treads and everyone is below 50. But us 'grannies' have our own unique problems. And we face the potential of death from fat. 63 may sound old, but I want to live as much as I did in my 30's. I want to think of death as something that hits during the 90's. -
Hi all, I'm 5' tall and went from 125pds to 198. The weight gain began 5 years ago during a nasty divorce. I developed health problems from the added weight--High Blood Pressure, severe back problems, gout, high triglacides. I have been able to lose 10pds over this last year. My BMI is 36.7. I'm on 4 medicines for the high blood pressure alone and medicines for the other problems. I take 2 antidepressents and Seroquil 300mg for bipolar 1 and PTSD. All of these medicines are a major factor in the weight gain. I heard about lapband several weeks ago and was shocked that I could have it done at 36.7 BMI, because of my medical conditions. My doc said absolutely and says he will do whatever he can to help me get my insurance to OK it. So, now I begin the adventure of getting a lapband. PS, my insurance sucks when it comes to approvals.:help:

Hi all. Thanks for all the replies. First I think I should see if I can change my handle. FatAttack sounds like I am just using will power and maybe a little self-hate to go on another diet. But this is different. This is a new life. How about NewMe or 4Life. If I have to I will just register as a new person and have ‘former FatAttack’ under handle. This is so exciting to hear from people closer to my age. The older we get the more precious life becomes. And the more important our physical health is. Serena, Claremae. Congradulations on your weight loss. Nicnaknut, I just discovered the LapBand solution two weeks ago and got my doc’s approval last week. He told me to keep researching and he will do whatever he can to get my insurance to approve. I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just self pay for a doc in Mexico rather than wait forever for insurance. Boomer46, I take a lot of pills and I think possibly 7 of them could be eliminated if I lost the weight. Callollin, what you said is really encouraging. Oh, and going to try and fix that handle. Liz Bennet, Hi and good luck. -
Interference From Others

Today I wrote my daughter about my decision to have lapband surgery. I am waiting for an e-mail from her that totaly puts down my choice. I have a boyfriend of 7 years who is tall thin and athletic. He has never had any sort of weight problem. His veiw is that people who are obese are lazy and undisciplined. I've gained 70 pounds since we got together. I may lose him over my decision. But, I plan on getting ME back. Getting me back is what is important. CHOLLIN THAT IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT. You have so much life yet to live. -
Hello all.....I am new and need some help!

Heatherjones, I have found that putting lots of ice in protein shakes them using a blender, makes a wonderful summer shake. I also have tried using dried milk for the liquid along with the ice. -
Bummed out, had to cancel surgery
