February/March 2014 sleevers

At least you got your hooked roots under control! Gotta show them who's the head bitch. Bummer about the soup and powder. I know how much it sucks to invest in those and hate them. Maybe you can re-sell the powder on Craigslist? People will buy anything off CL, even your hooker roots! -

I think the depression is totally normal. The combo of experiencing a major life change and having a hard time knowing how things will be when you come of surgery is a lot to take! I saw on another thread that one woman's surgeon told her his patients have been depressed all through the first month post-op. Try to focus on positive thoughts. Why did you decide to do this? What are you looking forward to most after surgery? Imagine yourself thinner, healthier and in different clothes. Doing that definitely helped ease my anxiety. Also, if you have to do the liquid diet, that doesn't help. Lol. It makes you hungry and irritable and exacerbates any concerns you may have. Just try to stay busy and direct your mind to happy thoughts. It makes a huge difference. -

Just get moving ASAP. I have had quite a few surgeries and walking has always been my savior! -

Hopefully you get to meet with your anesthesiologist and tell them about previous experiences. I have had multiple surgeries and a different complication or weird reaction to the anesthesia. I got to talk to my anesthesiologist before surgery. This time I had a hard time waking up, which I have had before. But I didn't get nauseas and vomit everywhere and I didn't come out unable to breathe on my own (anesthesia caused a partially collapsed lung when I had my band placed in 2009). I will take the struggling to wake up over being violently ill after abdominal surgery. I am making up for it with long walks outside and also trying to walk around the island in my parents kitchen every time I get up because I didn't get out of bed (except to pee twice) for at least 24 hours after surgery. Just making sure I keep that blood moving! Keep us updated. I'm wishing you all the best and know you will pull through beautifully! -

I am four days out now? Do you count the day you had surgery? Lol. I had surgery Thursday. I already have two girlfriends coming over tomorrow since they have the day off and hubs doesn't and we are all going walking together. I can't wait until I'm cleared to go back to the gym! -
Prayers to you tomorrow! Let us know how you're doing ASAP. I know it took me almost 24 hours before I was conscious enough to update. Lol.

My first week of liquids I dropped 7 pounds really fast. The second week I stayed the same. But I did well on the diet. My doctor was more than fine with my results. You will be okay. Just stick to the diet. It goes slow and fast at the same time. Before you know it you will be in surgery!

I walked a mile today. Wahoo! I'm glad you aren't feeling nerves. They were definitely getting to me for a few days before. I hope you have an easy, speedy recovery! -
I'm only 4 days post op. So I can only do about 2oz every 15-20 minutes. Everyone is different.
-
Yes. We have a gorgeous walking trail/bike path behind my parents house. I love taking Becca for walks there. When I'm feeling better I will be doing that every day! But for now I can't take her on my own.
-
Yeah. I remember you telling me that a while back. Just count the calm as a much needed break/blessing before surgery. And be on here as much as possible. It has been so helpful for me!
-
That's great. Keep the nerves away as long as possible! They don't do anything to help us. Lol.
-
I just went for a walk with hubs, baby, dogs and best friend. I'm hoping she will be following me in this journey so I invited her to walk with us. We walked a mile and I feel great. And since I had to go to the ER I took my water with me so I am almost at my 64 oz of water. I feel much better now that I have had some rest and a walk.
-
Wahoo! Congrats on the weight loss.

Fab!!!! You're almost done!!!!!!! Ahh!!!!!

That pain from coughing can be nasty. That may be what caused my pain in my ribs. I originally thought it was trapped gas. I only worried about a possible clot after the calf pain started. I am not having a terrible recovery, however this is the toughest time I have bad recovering from an operation. This is the third time many of my incisions were used for a laparoscopic procedure and I had so much trouble waking up from anesthesia that its just been harder than I'm used to.
-
Okay. Back home. They did all kinds of blood tests and an ultrasound. They said my clotting risk is high but that it could be just from surgery. They said to be safe I need to follow up with my primary care doc tomorrow and have another round of blood work and ultrasound done at the end of the week. So for now, I'm okay. Just super tired and ready to pass out!
-
Alright kids. To the fun part we go! I am being driven to the ER. Woke up with excruciating pain in my left side (lung) and warm pain in my calf. Because I was so out of it the first 24 hours after surgery I barely got up to pee. So we are ruling out a blood clot this fine Sunday morning. I will update you when I have something else to add. Wish me luck! Lol.

The bacon made me nauseas but the pizza dinner smelled amazing. Lol.

I don't think I would be craving much if I wasn't at home with my family. I don't even want the specific food. Just anything edible I would take. I am finally getting hunger pangs and having to deal with their hot and smelly delicious food is tough. But in a way it was harder in preop. Because in preop I could get away with "just a bite" of my husbands chicken and "just one or two" of baby's steamed carrots. Now being post Op I wouldn't dare entertain those ideas. Lol. Just keep sipping...
-
I would love that. I have seen a couple of veggie Pizza crusts on Pinterest. Maybe when I'm further down the road I can try that for the family. Mmm. Mouth is watering and it ain't from my protein shake.
-
Lol. My husband made a gluten free pizza tonight. Oh that smell... Pizza is something I may miss. But again, worth it! I am sitting here with my shot glass of protein powder. Mmm. Lol!

Just ordered their unflavored and peanut butter flavor. Wahoo!

Thanks. Will do!
