February/March 2014 sleevers
Jencovi replied to rebeccasams's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Shersun, I am doing two miles in one walk. Takes a little over a half hour. I am in Orange County, CA and we have nice weather so I go out on the walking trails around my parent's house. Before surgery I was very active and I have a 16 month old daughter so I was almost always on my feet. I know that helps with my recovery. My first BM came six days after surgery. I was taking two colace every day too. But now it seems I'm back to regular. Yay! Lol. -
Insurance paying for protein drinks....

I got a call saying I'm approved. Wahoo! -
Yeah. Anyone who accused me of taking the easy way out the last time (band) isn't around this time. No one will understand unless they ensure it themselves.

Almost one week out and hungry!
Jencovi replied to ccaramel27's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Only half a cup of Protein shake? Today was the first day I wasn't hungry. I finally got two Protein shakes down. I had to take them everywhere with me and pack a giant ice cube in the bottle. But that made such a difference for me. Hope you figure it out. The hunger was really upsetting me the past two days. -

I'm one week post-op tomorrow. The difference in how I felt even four days ago to now is incredible. I'm walking 1.5-2 miles a day and my blood sugars are better than ever before. I'm down 14 pounds. I'm just better all around. In a few days you'll be feeling great! Glad to hear you are home. To me it made a huge difference. I felt so out of it in the hospital. It was a mix of meds, exhaustion and a strange environment. I was initially nervous to go but it was definitely the best move. I hope being home does the same for you Shersun. Also, I keep reminding people to think of their want tos. That has been such a great tool for me. I appreciate you sharing that with us. So, keep walking and reviewing your want tos! It will keep getting better. -
Vent away! That's what we are here for. I know his tough it can be getting unwanted advice from people who think they're being helpful. Just remember they think they're helping. Feel free to vent here anytime! We all need support and the venting can be very therapeutic.

Glad to see your stomach is gone, but your humor remains in tact! Keep walking. You will feel so much better the more you walk. It makes all the difference. I pooped today for the first time since my surgery (almost a full 7 days ago). It was...rough. Lol! But now I'm feeling so much better! From now on I have to watch out for those sneaky farts! Keep up the good work SJ!

Omg, Heather...I am craving meat like crazy and still have another week of liquids! So glad to hear you're feeling better and are up and around more. Congrats on the 23 pounds! That's awesome. Keep it up!

You will be doing great as soon as you get rid of that nausea!
-
SuperFab, My first two days home I struggled with nausea (even with a zofran script). The thing that helped most was warm water with peppermint extract. I really hope you're feeling better soon.

Just an update on me. Got almost all my protein in today. Also I have been walking about 1.5-2 miles a day the last four days. I'm down 14 pounds and feeling much better everyday. My blood sugars are amazing and I have lowered my hourly dose on my pump again (with doctors direction). The sleeve is saving my life!

So sorry to hear that! I am sending good vibes your way April!
-
Glad to hear it!

SJ! Yay! Well, yay for you. Not your noisy neighbor's guests. Can you say anything to the nurse? Maybe just tell them off yourself? Lol. Glad to hear you're out and feeling alright! Wahoo!
-
Good luck hun! You got this.
-
So sorry to hear this, Rosemary. I pray you have a quick recovery and are re-scheduled ASAP! Keep us updated, even if you aren't a Feb/March sleever anymore. <3

How are you doing SuperFab?
-
Go SJ go! Let us know how you are when you can.
-
I struggle with more than two ounces of shake at a time. I have gotten maybe 6-8oz of shake in a day max which is only 30 grams of protein.
-
When does the post-op nausea subside? I'm sure everyone is different but I still struggle with some terrible nausea. I'm off pain meds now (day 5 post) but I'm still feeling sick often enough that its preventing me from getting enough protein in.
-
Ok. I am hungry all the time because I am struggling getting protein in. How do you do it! I've only gotten about one shake a day in. I go to a follow up with the nutritionist tomorrow so I was going to ask her. But what do you do? I'm kind of freaked out that I'm only able to get small amounts of thick liquids in.
-
Yes. It's a noisy little newborn! Cooing and gurgling. But I haven't had any cramping or major discomfort. You're still in the hospital? Everything okay? Maybe my days are just running together. Lol.

You're a tank! Hahaha!

Very exciting! Welcome to our club. We are a little crazy. But in a fun way! Not a scary way. Lol.
