I don't think you need to call your dietician yet. My hospital makes us see our dietician one week out (group class) and everyone was struggling to meet their protein needs. I was only getting one shake a day and they were okay as long as I drank all my water.

The first three days were the hardest for me. Hopefully you begin to feel much better from here on out.

Good luck!

What a great post. So many positive observations about yourself! I am one week post op and down 15lbs. Only 85 to go! Yes. 85 seems like a lot, but now that I have my trusty sleeve as my main tool, I know I can do it. I'm excited to have these epiphanies of my own in the next year! -
You'll be okay! What most of us learned in the last week having our surgery was a little rough. The first two to three days are hard. But after that you start to feel better and after a week you feel like a new person. The change in me over the last week has been amazing. Just remember you only have to get through a few hard days to move on to a healthier, more enjoyable life. It's worth it, I promise!

I didn't go til day 6 and didn't feel any discomfort. I didn't even realize I had to go. I went to pee and surprise! Haha. Although it was a painful, half-an-hour surprise. Ugh...

This made me LOL! So glad you're feeling better SF!

Well that makes me feel better. Lol. I went and bought some isopure yesterday which was super helpful. I have had some bad constipation but I knew the pain meds would do that to me. Before surgery I was drinking 4-6 liters of water a day. So that hurts too. And may have been what motivated me to work on the water more diligently.

Oh gosh. I pray you pass SOMETHING soon.

I just laughed so hard at this. SJ you are great. Keep laughing through this. But not too hard. Don't want to irritate this incisions!

Barely any. I think my first day I got less than one shake down and maybe 48oz of water. My surgeon said that's totally normal and to focus more on water to prevent dehydration and another hospital visit. Yesterday was 6 days out for me and I finally got 2 protein shakes down and that was the third day I got all my water in.

You will be the most understanding student nurse!

Almost one week out and hungry!

That was my guess because that was my struggle pre-op. hope you get to feeling better soon! -
But that's what student nurses are for! (I saw that knowing you are an student nurse, and I'm a former student nurse, lol!) Hopefully that gets your motor running properly.

Glad to hear you are heading home! Hope the trip is safe and quick.

Well, you got the full service didn't you!

I thought I was through with the post-op constipation. Nope. Had first BM last night. Had a normal one this morning then had another rough go later in the morning. I am so over this! Lol. Sorry if its TMI. Just had to share.

Yeah. The important thing is to know that at worst, it's a long week. But it will all pass and you will feel totally different (and much better) in a week.

I started sleeping on my side on night 3 or 4. I just woke up that way. I have been a side sleeper since I got pregnant. Since then I have slept on my side. I do get a small shot of pain in my stomach when I first roll over but it's nothing excruciating or unbearable. It had helped to be able to rest the way I like to.

Good luck with the stool softener. Hope that passes soon too! Lol! -
I haven't had to deal with anything like that yet. But I know it will happen some time. I love food. And food has always been there for me. Just do your best to stay on plan. I know it's easier said than done. And keep talking to us here.

Hey Glitter, Glad to hear you are feeling better. My second day post-op was definitely one of the hardest days of my life. Coming from six previous surgeries (including band placement, removal, and a c-section) I was shocked at how hard of a time I was having. I thought this would be a breeze compared to a c-section. Boy was I wrong! Now I'm a week out and feel like a new person. The difference just a few days has made is pretty amazing. I also had that weird pain when drinking. But we soon I learned the balance between just enough and too much intake it seemed to get better. I have experienced it in a day or two. I am also able to take bigger sips now than I first could. So it will hopefully get better for you soon.
