Well, after fighting with my weight for more than 10 years, in September 2013 I FINALLY asked my primary physician about weightloss surgery. He refered me to a surgeon nearby and off i went! I was so tired of the pills and yo-yo diets and exercising without results, and ecstatic when i made my first appointment in the first week of October.
My surgeon's office was amazing. They were all so helpful and willing to work with me to get everything done in a timely manner for the surgery. I am thankful that their post op care has been so wonderful! They're available at all times to answer any questions and that makes me feel the most comfortable.
The insurance process was long, and it felt like it took an eternity to get everything approved, and luckily EVERYTHING came together last minute! I didnt get to do the pre-surgery diet, because i wasn't even sure if i'd be getting the surgery before the end of the year (deductible had been met, and if i didn't meet the end of the year deadline it would take me longer to PAY for the surgery so I wouldn't have gotten it until the middle of 2014).
I called my insurance on December 26th, found out it was approved, called my surgeon's office and they called me in immediately (as there was only one spot left for 2013). My surgery was scheduled for the following day, needless to say i was BEYOND nervous! I have ZERO regrets. The process seemed to take long during the months before, but when it came down to the surgery everything whooshed by!
