amayzme got a reaction from Finally17 in WANT the Sleeve - but is it worth it for 60 lbs at age 60?
I felt the same way...why do this so late in life. I'm basicaly healthy..some "old. age" stiffness..all normal for what i figuref am old girl would feel.
but the extra 80 or do pounds snuck up through the years. i went out less. did less activities untill i wad doing none at all. had to hold my bresth to tie my shoes..avoided.stairs if i could.
i finally realized i had no life and never saw that coming! Do this year at.59 (i will ne 60 in February ) i decided i eant my life back. i eant to breath and walk and dance and maybe even date again...but mostly i want to be a healthy active 90 year old.
so 1/4/2014 i did it. i feel fine. i feel hopefull that the fat lady in the mirror will soon step aside.and i can take a.good look at ME.
so i say do it!! ..,,(60 is the new 40 you know.)

amayzme got a reaction from Christinamo7 in January sleevers......what's your weight loss so far?
I was sleeved in January 2014 . Did good the first year. Pit about 20# back on the second Yearand can't seem to get it off. Holding steady this year...just 20# I can't budge.
My plan is to get back to mostly Protein and walking. Cut out the slider foods that are so easy to consume.
So what is your plan to drop the weight that's crept back ?

amayzme got a reaction from JillC878 in Not Enough Weight Lost?
I don't agree that you are expected to drop an exact amount in a specific time...that is just asking for stress. You work the plan..stay away.from slider foods..and you will be fine.
Relax and enjoy your successes !!

amayzme got a reaction from hopeful2 be slim in Less activity
Hang in there. I just turned 60 last month. My stall happened at 3 weeks out. I'm into my 8th week now and -35# Down. That may seem slow to some...but its more than i lost pre sleeve in a year. Good luck on your journey. You'll be fine.

amayzme reacted to LipstickLady in Not Enough Weight Lost?
How did this turn into insulting bypass people? :faint:
Thirty-seen pounds in two months is fabulous. Why in the world do you think it's not? I "only" lost 23.2 pounds my first two months. I've never had an 18 pounds lost month and I don't consider myself a failure, a slow loser or anything else other than a success.
It's really important to focus on the positive, on the great strides you are making towards good health and what you've accomplished that you've never managed before. Enjoy the journey instead of stressing over what you cannot control. WOrk your plan and your plan will work for you.

amayzme reacted to gmanbat in In my 2nd Stall!
Many things cause weight fluctuations on the way down. In my case, exercising caused gain because my pumped up muscles took in Water during the recovering time. When they recovered they dropped the Water and my weight went back down,...only now I have bigger muscles and more fat burning potential. Muscle takes up less space than fat pound for pound...that's why you shrink when your weight stays the same or gains.
Eventually I hit goal and went beyond. Your body knows what it's doing even if your brain doesn't get it.

amayzme reacted to gmanbat in Got my first unexpected, "but why don't you just diet?" lecture today
Sometimes passive aggression works real good, did for Ghandi..
I have taken that approach with folks that are slyly implying something.
"Isn't surgery the easy way out..why didn't you just diet?"
"Because I'm not strong like you and I am very weak in character. I have no will power and control over what I do. I get scared of myself sometimes and fear that I will go nuts and beat the snozzle out the next person that questions me about my actions. Thanks for asking."

amayzme reacted to backwhereIbelong in Any Jan 2014 sleevers?
Jan 24th was my life changing date and I have lost 31#... I try to take it day by day but get a little overwhelmed with Vitamins, Water, and Protein. Feeling better than I have in 6 years! Weigh myself once every week to 2 weeks and when I feel discouraged, I take measurements of my body---- truly amazing!
Hope all Jan 2014 sleevers are living the dream along with me.

amayzme reacted to Jdub in How much did u loose on your first month?
I was down about 22lbs in my first month post-op, but if it takes me a year to get rid of the other 80, I'm happy with that

.....eating slowly. I still can barely bother sitting down at the table because I won't be there that long. It's like I find eating slightly annoying, so I want to get it over with as quickly as possible.

amayzme got a reaction from Schmincke in In my 2nd Stall!
I believe our stalls are just the bodies way of the outside catching up with the inside.
Ie; if you have 100 stair steps to climb.. you will probably take a few rest stops the first time you climb them....dont you think the body needs to do the same with its sudden weight loss?
Sounds silly i guess...but it helps me to not lose out on a perfectly wonderful day simply because i step on my scale and it doesn't meet my expectations .
Relax and enjoy how far we have come...not how far we have to go..or you'll miss out on some amazing moments.
