What's your favorite protein shake?
niassy151 replied to niassy151's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Is it unflavored or vanilla? I wondered about making a coffee drink. I tried Chike Coffee - it was not for me. I'm 1 week out from my pre-op liquid diet. I'm getting scared and wonder what really works for other people. I've read some of the past forums, but it's really nice to be"apart" of the conversation. Thank you both for your replies! -
Scars are KILLING me!
niassy151 replied to Jls93001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't even know this was possible. I was allergic to the hypoallergenic glue they used during my sleep study. Now I'm worried this might happen to me! Yikes! -
week 3 post surgery... stuck not losing! help
niassy151 replied to jdobrinska's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Isn't that the week you lose inches, not weight? -
I agree. But they may just be looking out for your best interest (in a way). Having someone able to help you with recovery would be ideal. If you do it at the same time, you won't be able to help each other. However, I agree with Lil Red, you should always feel comfortable with the surgeon and they shouldn't jerk you around. I would switch surgeons. When you're spending that much money, you should get a certain level of service, in my opinion (I am also self-pay!)

Makeovers... pre or post surgery?
niassy151 replied to niassy151's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I made an appointment for Friday. But I don't think I'm going to do it. Yet. I've ALWAYS wanted to be that skinny girl with long hair. I think once I meet that goal then I'll make the cut. So for now, it will just be a trim. Yes, I am a baby. -
I switched to caffine free diet coke and pepsi for awhile. It just stopped being enjoyable without the buzz. It made it much easier to quit for me.

Please help: how to not feel like a failure?
niassy151 replied to Nerva Harrison's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Even with the surgery, you will still have to make a lifestyle change. It's going to be difficult, but it's difficult in a different way (or so I imagine!). I was unsuccessful losing weight on my own. Lots of other people are too. Keeping weight off that you lose is even harder! I would feel like a loser if I didn't lose weight after the surgery (that may be very insensitive) but getting the surgery is still going require a significant amount of effort to lose and KEEP it off. -
Makeovers... pre or post surgery?
niassy151 replied to niassy151's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just worry about how I could put it up when working out. I'd have to do pigtails which is so dumb, in my opinion. Lol. Other than that, I would totally go for it. I just sweat so much when I wok out. I'm thinking of getting a bob. -
Tell me about your required pre-op diet
niassy151 replied to Jen40's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is two weeks. The first week is 3 protein shakes with a lean cuisine. The second week is 4 protein shakes. I think I have 2 days of clear liquids at the end. I start February 17 - although like you - I am thinking of starting sooner. -

Protein NRG (Protein Water) - Shark Tank
niassy151 posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Has anyone tried Protein NRG? It's protein flavored water - I just saw it on Shark Tank. It's sold at Walgreens. Has anyone tried it? I'm going to go get some tomorrow. I'm hopeful. I do NOT like Crystal Light. I had one flavor I liked (Raspberry Peach Fiber) but it's discontinued! This company makes watermelon flavored water. Yum! Check it out. I'll report back tomorrow. http://www.pronrgusa.com/ -
I haven't had surgery, but I have similiar thoughts. I'm getting the sleeve March 5 and I have a max of probably 75 lbs and I would be TINY. I'm worried I'm going to be disappointed and only lose 30lbs or something. I know it sounds ridiculous. My surgeon agreed to do the surgery and basically said: I can either do it now or in 10 years. It's your choice (people in my family tend to expand as they age. A lot.) Congrats on your success though!

No one resells single protein RTD drinks?
niassy151 posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I think this is CRAZY! I'm even to the point where I'm considering doing it. Not to make money, but because I think it sucks horribly that you can't try stuff! What would you personally pay per drink to try and what would you want to try? It seems like powders are way easier to get in sample versions... but maybe I'm wrong with that too. What do you think? What would make your list of things to try? -
I think i fell in lovw tonight with my professor lol
niassy151 replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always did the best in classes where the professor was nice to look at. Congrats! -
Is anyone interested in trying out dance classes in Dallas) with me? I'm looking at United Dance Academy (off Mockingbird) Burlesque Studio (Downtown) Vertical Fitness (aerial silks - Richardson I think?) The Girls Room (off Greenville Ave) Anyway there's a bunch of places I want to go but I'd like to go with someone.

I'm single. I haven't had the surgery yet. But I've thought about this A LOT. I think a few different things: The first date sets the tone for the relationship. So I'm really wanting the first date to NOT be centered around food. Like working out (rock climbing, dance class, hiking, ice skating... something active) because I want to know I'm with someone that IS active. However, if it is a meal, I don't think "regular" sized people notice. I agree with the guy above that said he will notice if you buy the most expensive thing and then take 3 bites - then he'd notice! But otherwise, I personally might even ask if he wants to split something or just order something small (salad or soup). I think a guy will be happy he didn't have to buy drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts... etc. And if he did ask, I would say, I used to be a lot heavier, so now I'm really strict about what I eat and I'm much happier this way. I can't WAIT to be able to say that - I USED to be fat. Bottom line, if he's not supportive about something so simple (and something that saves him money too!) he's not going ot be the right one for me. (I haven't been on a date in over three years! LOL)

I'm paying 12,400. It includes anesthesia, 2 nights in the hospital and aftercare appointments for the first 3 months (I think free diet classes forever though).

I'm ashamed. I feel like I'm the only person that can't figure out how to use Blogger. I'm still in my 20s. SMH LOL I wondered if I should create a blog for thearputic purposes. But then I wondered if you expend time and energy into it, you probably want someone to read it, don't you? -
Have to brag...
niassy151 replied to MsVictorious1020's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What size did you start at, just out curiosity? Either way, that's still inspiring. You look great! -
That makes a lot of sense. I had the Essure procedure done in September last year and it was the first time I had been under anesthesia since getting my wisdon teeth out - something like 10 years earlier. I was nervous then about the thing going in my hand. Now, I am kind of freaked out about the catheter and the breathing tube - but I guess I try not to think about it. My other concern, which I try not to think about, is what if I die? I haven't told any of my family that I'm doing it. No one knows this is about to happen. So I guess I try to avoid these thoughts and I suppose I'm really being dishonest. I am nervous too, I just try to think about how excited I am instead like vdub. The more I think about it, the more impatient I get. The days are passing so slowly it's like watching paint dry.
-
What do you feel nervous about? Are you scared? I feel like I should feel differently. Lol. I'm excited for it to happen... but I don't really feel nervous/scared about the surgery. I think once I do my pre-op done, maybe I will be more nervous.

Mine is the 5th. I feel like Feburary is going to drag out. I just can't wait!!!

Not sure which BC to use after surgery?
niassy151 replied to Sydney Lynn Pinckley's topic in The Gals' Room
I haven't had surgery yet. But I also have PSOS. I had the implant (Implanon) and I loved it. It will be time to get it removed in August this year. I don't need another one because I got Essure (pemanent bc) in September but I liked not having TOM ever. So I may end up getting it again anyway because I like it so much! -
Anyone having surgery in March?
niassy151 replied to plantosleeve67's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am! Mine is March 5. Right now I drink a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and whatever I want for dinner. February 17 I have to go on the two week all liquid diet, but I'm planning to start easier. I've ordered different powders to try, but mostly I like Premier Protein from Sams (ready to drink kind). I've slowly been knocking out my food funerals and honestly, I'm getting less and less interested in food and more and more excited about the future and my surgery. Other things I'm doing: I'm looking into books, support groups, reading these forums. I'm going to probably buy a journal (like Fitbook) and some other tools (like measuring cups, a food scale, etc). I'm just trying to get as prepared as possible and read about other's people's experiences. I'm really looking forward to going to the support group at the hospital I'm going to. I hope I meet someone I like! Exercise is going to be my weakness for sure. I've always struggled to committ. I've hid my personal dissatisfaction with myself with work. I currently work 3 jobs so I'm always busy. I'll be quitting one job the end of February, and the second part time job after my restrictions are up with recovery. At least that's my plan right now. What about you? -
My surgery isn't until March and I haven't done my pre-op meeting yet (it's February 19th). Can I wear a bra during surgery? I just don't know if you can only just wear a gown.
