  1. I went from a lap band to the sleeve. I had the lap band placed in October of 2008 and had issues with it for five years. I had the revision in November 2013, and the surgery lasted 4 hours. So far I am in love with the sleeve than I ever had been with the band. I don't have the acid reflux anymore and I don't vomit anymore. I hope you have a great success with the surgery!
  2. This is an interesting topic and article! I can see both ends of the spectrum's with emotional eating over having sex. Yes, sex is great and its a great stress reliever in many ways. But also having sex all the time because you are feeling down or lonely or any kind of emotion can lead to risky behaviors. Such risky behaviors could lead to cheating on a loved one, going out and having multiple partners, STI's and STD's, an unwanted pregnancy and the list goes on. I was an emotional eater and there are days where I stop myself from being one because of how stressed I am that day. Finding other outlets to get those emotions are tough but fun. Take up a new hobby (sex can be hobby too, but lets hope not) like photography, traveling, blogging, or just try something different every day can help. I will say I am more affectionate now then I ever has been but I save the sex and intimacy with my loved one.

    Sorry. ..must bring it up!

I had that issue after surgery. Its from the anesthesia and the gas they put in your stomach cavity to make room during surgery. I just waited it out and drank watered down apple juice time to time. It helped a lot also moving around to get the gas to start to make itself out also helps. I think this is funny I danced when I farted the first time after surgery and that was ten days out.

Mixed Feelings On The Newfound Attention

I so can relate! I know I still have more to loose but all the attention is a little overwhelming! Don't get me wrong it feels great hearing how good I look, but there are days where I don't wanna hear it because its redundant. One thing that I have issues with is when I go out to the bar now, before I could go out and have hardly anybody talk to me or dance. Now I have a sea of people who want to talk to me and dance. It makes my boyfriend a little nervous when I go out now since I lost 82 pounds, he says I am starting to look "too attractive" which I take as both negative and a positive.
  6. I loved reading this! I have always thought I looked great and never crossed my mind on what I would look like after surgery. I just started to notice changes that are happening to me and I am 13 weeks post-op. Its one thing to notice your pants to start to get baggy and shirts getting more loose. But to actually look at myself in the raw about almost made me cry. I love the way I am looking now, and it makes me smile everyday when I notice more small changes. I can say I loved myself before I had the surgery but I even love myself more now then I ever had.

    Alcohol...

I am 13 weeks post surgery, and this past weekend I had my first taste of alcohol since October. It made me feel very flushed and sick to my stomach. Was never a vodka and cranberry gal but it did taste really good! I will admit I miss drinking with friends but personally for me I am making the choice not to drink for a while.
  9. When I took that stupid questionnaire I was a little nervous but I already had experience with it before when I had the lap band back in 2008. The questions can be very tricky, most of the questions were very similar but where worded differently. This time when I took it, it was about the same but I was happy to see the whole "Do you love your Mother" or "Do you love your Father" questions were gone. Of course I love my mom! Or the famous question "How are you feeling right now" then ask you the same question ten minutes later on question 200 when you just want to get done with the it. You will do fine, I have faith

    Sick of hearing......

I have personally been through the ringer with the adult bullies. What usually gets the pot stirring is document everything they are saying about other coworkers and report to your Human Resource Management. There should be zero tolerance for that in the environment. I cannot stand an adult who has to bully another, we are not in high school anymore. One time in a place I worked for I called out a man who was making fun of another coworker to the point the lady found out and cried in the bathroom. I simply walked over to him and told him what I exactly think about him and that he is a low life, then walked myself right into both my managers office and HR managers office and reported everything and what I said to him.
  11. I had prior to the sleeve the lap band, I had horrid acid reflux with the band and my surgeon said that the reflux will stick with me for life because of the damage the band did to my stomach. I am on medication for it too this day and I am 9 weeks out of having the revision surgery to the sleeve, I can't go a day without it. Hopefully down the road it will get better.

    coffee

I haven't been much of a coffee drinker, but I will have a cup of decaf once and awhile but I cannot have it because of my acid reflux is horrible even before and after surgery.
  13. We had surgery the same day! I weighed the same as you did then and now, how ironic! But anyways, it sounds like its a gull bladder issue. I have random pain but only when I drink really cold Water now and then. I would contact your surgeon or doctor and let them know whats going on. Its very common after weight surgery that the gull bladder will be the next to come out. I hope you start feeling better!

    Popcorn dangerous after WLS?

I LOVE popcorn before and after the surgery but I only eat a cup of it and I make sure I measure it out because if I don't I will eat a whole huge bowl of it. I do as well consider it a slider food as well, and when I do eat popcorn it is not that often most likely once a month or not at all. My whole family are popcorn eaters, so its hard going home and having my dad make our favorite snack and try not to eat it. I have an air popper that I have home and don't put butter on it just some salt and call it good.

Something interesting about all the profile pics

As a photographer and taking my own "selfies" there are tricks to make one look younger and thinner. Just point the camera at an angle from your face and bring your chin down a little and take the picture. That's the best advice I can give to get you your 21 year old sexy selfie picture.

    Slowing Down!

I force myself to use the smaller plate and bowls and I measure out everything. I battle eating too big of bites as well, I have gotten into the habit of cutting stuff up to small bites and eating it that way. It takes me about a good hour to get my food down right now. Been working on getting the food down within the 30 minutes they want me too.
  17. I had the surgery back in November 2013 and I have had some good and bad so far. Bad: My craving for sweets are still there I have no ambition to plan to exercise I can't eat scrambled eggs anymore they make me sick to my stomach Recently cannot get in all the calories the doctors want me to get I float in between 300-500 instead of 800-1,000 I have more gas than normal Good: I can fit into clothes that I used to wear in high school I have found new energy Sex drive has went up a lot I love tomatoes now My feet are shrinking (goodbye giant feet!) Grocery's last more than a month!

A Month Out from Band Removal

Hi there! I issues with the lap band as well, I was always using the restroom with it and caused more harm then it did good. I regained all my weight back that I lost and plus some, but I had a revision surgery to the sleeve. Way to go on losing 5 pounds since surgery!
  21. I had my surgery back in November 2013 and it was a revision to the lap band. At first only my parents knew and of course sisters. I slowly starting to tell people like my family and very close friends when I knew that I was approved for the surgery. In 2008 when I had the lap band done and everybody and their brother knew about it. I wanted to make sure that I could have the revision done, and told my family not to say a word on any social network sites. It took me up to the surgery date for me to say "hey everybody this is whats happening" I started a blog, and directed my friends to read it so they know what exactly I am going through so I didnt have to face the questions up front. I am about two months out and doing great, I have a huge support team that helps me a lot! After coming out on facebook I was very surprised on how many people have I inspired to get themselves healthy as well.
  22. So far today has been a great day! Hopefully later I will get to go swimming for my exercise!
