Approved for surgery without a PCP?

Coming from somebody who works for a PCP it is great to have one because after your follow-up visits with your surgeon after surgery your PCP will be doing the rest. I know it sounds ridiculous to have a PCP established, but in the long run the weight loss institute is looking out for you well being. My insurance required me to have a PCP established but no letter. I already had mine write a letter anyways to the doctor at the weigh loss clinic stating I need this just a precautionary measure.

    You're so vain...

Raises hand very proudly. I had a few health related issues from being overweight. Hell I am still on this journey, its not over yet. But in the recent months I have really have come out of my shell. Always had a super high self esteem growing up, I come from a family with overweight family members. Growing up my mom was big until she went and had her surgery done back in 2007. So, growing up for me I always was taught to dress to impress and also wear makeup. Which I hate makeup to this day but wear it. So even at my highest I was happy with how I looked to begin with. I have a boyfriend, he finds me sexy who cares what the world says. But I was depressed at the same time because I knew at 397 the chances of me having kids where very slim, and also living longer was slim as well. Something needed to change and here I am. I tried weigh loss surgery when I was 18 and did it for all the wrong reasons, and I will admit that. I have changed and grown since then and love my revision to the sleeve. Well now that I have lost 106 pounds and into sizes I haven't worn since I was a freshman in high school I am feeling more confident than ever. I love how everything looks on me even more, and take that extra mile at times. My boyfriend who has been with me through this whole journey reminds me daily that I am beautiful, and that means a lot. I am now proud of myself more than I ever have been. And here's the kicker the "bullies" that teased me at school are wanting to know my secret or better yet are overly apologetic. I accept and move on, hopefully when the class reunion comes to I can slap them in the face with the new me.
  3. My cycle started right when I had surgery, then didn't stop until three months later. Then it started with having it every other week, now its back to be on going. I am showing signs of PCOS which my sister has, but my OB doesn't want to treat me for PCOS. Going to a new OB June 16th for more answers because this has slowed my weight loss A LOT! I see my little sister battle this everyday, and her battle with PCOS is pretty severe.

  6. Before any pre op diets yes I did and was also a huge pop drinker. Now I don't eat any of them and follow my doctors instructions. I had a lot of issues with the band, for one the surgeon who placed my band put it on wrong, and caused me to have major complications with it and left me with some long term effects the the sleeve has helped reversed. Such as acid reflux and ulcers. So I watch what I eat A LOT cause I do not want that coming back ever again.
  7. I had the revision from the band to the sleeve back in November 2013. I am down 106 pounds since I started this journey of becoming healthy and 74 pounds down since surgery. I can say my cravings came back with a vengeance. I crave sweets like its going outta style. I hate exercising but my exercise routine to begin with was walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes at the speed of 3.0 then upped it every other week. Now I do a boot camp challenge, swim, and walk. 4 days out of the week I do the boot camp challenge for 40 minutes, then the rest of the week I swim for 30 minutes and walk at least 2 miles at work during my lunch hour. Hope the surgery does wonders for you, I can say I am much happier without the band. No regrets so far
  8. I had pain like that when I was three days post op because I had a wedding to shoot. I called my surgeon and she told me that I have over done it and its just the muscle that is still tender from surgery. I hope it gets better, the pain was gone for me after a month.

You know you lost weight when

When you go swimming with your old bathing suit and the bottoms fall off when you get out...or when you look in the mirror and notice how skinny you are getting like my shoulders, back, stomach, legs, and boobs.
  10. Will this plateau ever end!! Hopefully answers will come in a few weeks regarding some female issues....maybe that will help break this rut!

I can't speak to the female issues, but plateaus happen! I've been in one for a little over a week. Try not to let it drag ya down. :)

    Boob Issue

Lucky! I wish my cup size went up...I went from a 50DDD to a 46C lol what gets me is the sagging more than the cup size. Hopefully when the weight is all off I can qualify for a breast lift and a tummy tuck. (Fingers are crossed)

Cats Vs Dogs (Share your pet pics)

I currently do not own any animals for my own, but here are my families fur babies that I do take some ownership for. This one is the newest addition her name is Peanut. She is a teacup chihuahua she is only 5 months old but the sweetest little thing ever. Not afraid of people, and loves to play. Can't get enough of her little kisses when I visit my parents. This is Shadow (aka Bear) and she is a full black lab. She is your typical lab, loving life and everybody in it. Shadow is my sidekick when I visit. Her and I go every where together and loves car rides. Always looking to cuddle when I come over. Hugest lap dog but I wouldn't ask for anything different. This is Cinder-Ella. She is lab/whippet mix. She is the oldest and most prissy thing I have ever seen. She has a heart of gold and the protector of the house. But her bark is bigger than her bite. And if I have a blanket I can tell you she is right next to you looking for cuddles. And awesome runner, to watch her stretch out and have her whippet come out of her is beautiful. I am a huge dog lover! Hopefully when I am done with apartment living I will finally own a pup of my own. They are most defiantly a humans best friend! **All photo credits go to me, I am a photographer outside of my day job. You can see my work at www.facebook.com/Kaylee.Marie.Photo . 20. Well I am still in transition of becoming the new me...but I do not miss weighing in at 397 pounds. I have no regrets at all. The only thing I wished that stayed were my boobies lol
  21. Hi there! When I first started this whole journey of weight loss I was 397, and before surgery I lost 35 pounds and that put me at 362 right at surgery. I am now 290 and lost total 107 from when I began, and 72 pounds since surgery! The sleeve is a tool, that is something I keep telling myself everyday. The sleeve will work better if you make healthy changes to your diet and exercise. Six months ago I was sleeved and I have zero regrets, even when I go through a stall which will happen I have no regrets. I wouldn't be scared of the bypass, my mom had the bypass and is doing great and she is 5 years post op. One thing to remember every surgeon is different and will suggest what they think is best for you overall to become overall healthy and loose the excess weight. Good luck! With any surgery you have, you will rock at it I have faith.

    Favorite Food Staples Post-Op?

I have plenty of go to foods I turn too. The one thing I buy the most will have to be Michigan Brand Old Fashion Goodness Small Curd Cottage cheese 4% milk fat minimum. Its 14 grams of Protein, 3 grams of carbs, 120 calories, and 5 grams of fat. I also eat a lot of chicken as well. Lately I have been on a fruit kick. Love eggs, and chicken sausages. Also when I am craving a burger, i make chicken burgers and eat them naked with mustard, hard cheese, tomato and avocado. I hardly ever eat bread. Also I LOVE fresh hummus.

    Does anyone watch Breaking Bad?

OMG Loved the show when it first aired but after watching season five...and how the show ended I wanted to kill the TV! Hated the ending of the show. Now I am on to The Game of Thrones and will say I love that show ten times more than Breaking Bad. Don't get me wrong the show started off real great and went down hill after middle of the fourth season for me. Very frustrating.
