    Ok I'm mad!

Where I work, I sit at a desk all day and find myself snacking when bored. To which at home I do not. Its weird, anyways usually I keep cheeses in the fridge at work and also some crackers to go with. This helps me ease that snacking behavior and then I drink a lot of Water. Problem with my office they LOVE their animal crackers, Peanut Butter filled crackers, and candy. I have fallen victim many times to snacking on the "free" food here. It's hard, I get it. I wouldn't get too mad at yourself days like this happen. I snacked on some pickles and cheese a few minutes ago to get rid of that snacking craving I had. I eat pickles on occasion because I reduced salt in my diet. To which I hate a lot of salt on food now.Anyways, Good luck and don't get too frustrated.
  2. Oh goodness, I have so many stories. I am very public about my journey to everybody including Facebook, so it has been bound to happen to which I get some public questions and comments from others. Normally I always answer back to the question "Can you believe you were that fat" is Yes, I know I was that fat before and I can believe it. I don't mind the attention even if I do not seek it out (which I don't). It is sometimes satisfactory to know that people are noticing all the hard work you are doing.
  3. That little moment to which you find an amazing guy who likes every part of you even the flaws and baggy skin from the weight loss. Feeling truly blessed

    Dating

So as a single 24 year old, dating is entirely new for me because I was with somebody for a significant amount of time over the summer I became single. I decided to go online to a dating website. I am far from shy about my weight loss. I put it right in the "about me" on my profile. I see it as apart of me that I want to tell, because it is a HUGE accomplishment. I have kissed a lot of toads from going on dates but I have never ever had a negative remark about the decision I made to loose weight and how I did it. Dating is fun, I think, even if its just making new guy friends. Right now I found a really awesome guy from one of the sites and I think it might stick.
  5. SO EXCITED!! Half of my halloween costume came in today and it fits perfect! A check mark off the weight loss bucket list removed...buy a corset!

    Favorite things!

My favorite thing to eat is a small corn tortilla that is baked, low sodium black Beans, home made pico de gallo and some shredded chicken. I normally eat something similar to this every week. Sometimes I change it up and make it a Breakfast with replacing the chicken with scrambled egg whites.
  8. So I might be the odd one out, but I have hit my first goal and initial goal when I began was 250 and I am now 249 as of this morning. I am "5,7" and broad shouldered and full chest. So, I am right now the sizes I am currently in are 16/18/20 lol I say all three of those sizes because it depends on the brand and style. I am a defiantly a size 18 in pants. Yes, I want to loose fifty more pounds but I don't have a set size I want to get down too. I have never been a small girl so to think of an ideal size I am completely lost.

To carb or not to carb

I am ten months out and I eat carbs. There are days where my diet has more carbs than Protein but I do not see a difference on the scale. You need carbs in your diet to help survive and have a healthy brain. I do limit my carb intake on process foods. I try not to eat a lot of processed foods. I love to cook! Like last night I made homemade polenta with shredded chicken with homemade marina sauce. Everybody's diet on here is different even though we had the same surgery. Its all how we changed our diet to make ourselves healthy.
  10. Insurances put a lot of requirements on weight loss surgery because it is a lot of money to dish out to cover it. So gaining will reflect negatively for the insurance company because your asking basically for them to cover a weight loss surgery, and gaining is telling them in their own opinion that you are not ready. Your surgeon will possibly deny you because gaining makes the surgery way risky because of your liver. Your liver must shrink to make sure that when they move it, it will not bleed. If it bleeds it complicates the surgery by a ton. They would have to actually open you up to do the surgery. I would write a letter or get in touch with your insurance agency and tell they your predicament you are in with being off such medicine and talk with your primary care physician about a most effective way to loose weight and being off the med you were on. Hopefully you can get this all fixed up so you can get the surgery. Insurances are a real pain sometimes. Best of luck! I am cheering you on, you can do this!

    Coffee?

I am ten months out and I drink on occasion 1-3 cups of coffee depending on the day or week. Some weeks or months I can go without. Unlike today, this is a three cup day. Stayed up way to late last night. What I do different than what I use too is use fat free creamer and a splenda packet. After drinking coffee I normally drink A LOT of Water like over 64 oz. I would just listen to what your gut says, coffee that early for me made me sick. It took me up till nine months to finally get back to drinking coffee again, but not on a regular basis.

    199.5!

Congrats!! You look awesome! Keep up the the good work!
  13. The bariatric clinic I went too has a requirement that the patient must loose five pounds before surgery, also your insurance will sometimes demand such requirements as well to pay for the surgery. The doctor there had me start the liquid/product diet a good month and half before the surgery. I lost a total of 30 pounds before surgery. I started at 397 and surgery morning I was 367. All they want you to do is to shrink your liver, and the best way for that is by loosing weight. Shrinking your liver makes it way easier for them to get in there to do the surgery. If the liver doesn't shrink it makes it way harder for the surgeon to do the surgery and the possibility that the liver will bleed when they pick it up. A bleeding liver is not good at all. My suggestion would be to stick with the diet they have you on and the surgeon will be happy with any weight loss you do before surgery. Over all it makes it easier on them and you as well. Wishing you the best!
  14. YES! I made my first goal! I weighed in at 250.6 this morning!

  16. I can't stop laughing because I have run into awkward questions like that. I am extremely sarcastic so usually without hesitation I would say something off the wall and not expected which I love their reaction to it.

    Women critical of other women

I have found out first hand some women are just catty b*tches, and your better off having friends who will push you and be motivated with your journey. I have rid of toxic friends especially some women in my life who were jealous that I was losing weight faster than they, or couldn't wrap the idea around their heads that I will not be the fat friend anymore. I had one friend of mine actually told me to my face that even though I am losing weight I will never get a man. I was like really? Buh bye dear was my reply back to her. Men can also be just as bad as women at times which is weird to think that. Congrats on your weight loss, and let the haters hate, move on and be beautiful and continue your journey! You got this girl!

    Discouraged

I have been and in your position right now. I have been up and down the scale now for a month and slowly loosing like pound or two. I just have fifty to go to reach my goal. Stalls are normal, I would contact your physician or NUT to help you get out of the stall. That's what I have to do. I know my problem is that I am not eating and also when I do eat I snack. Good luck, and I know your stall will break soon!
  19. Just three pounds away! Come on body we can do this!

I decided to set a first goal before my surgery so I will have something to work too, then after I reach my first goal I will work towards my second and over all goal. Its been one h*ll of a journey so far and I have two months from being a year out. I just hope this isn't where I am going to be forever.

Are you focusing on a number or an overall healtly lifestyle? I would like to be around 230 lbs but I worry more about being able to run, bike, hike, chop wood, swim, dance, and live a life. That I know is my overall goal.

    3. KayleeC14

      KayleeC14

I focus on both really. I have become a number lady as I started to loose more but at 397 I would still push myself to activities to be active. It sucked at times because it became harder. Now I can do all the things I love with ease. My lifestyle has changed dramatically compared to a year ago.

    Popcorn? Okay or Not?

I love popcorn like everybody else does in my family. For Christmas last year my parents bought me an air popper which I love. When I feel like I need to snack usually its on the "time of the month" I usually pop some popcorn. Only things I put on it is either little bit of olive oil or sesame oil and sea salt. I cant go to the movies without contemplating for five minutes in the lobby if I want or need popcorn. Usually after the five minutes I walk away and go see the movie. Only a few times I have bought myself popcorn.

    "In between" sizes . . . . grrr

It took me up to about 50 pounds to really notice a difference in my pant sizes. Top size went down a lot more dramatically than the pants. Right now I have lost 145 pounds and still in a 18/20 and size XL shirt. I have a pannis that has gotten a lot smaller but Spanx is my best friend to help me smooth down my baggy skin so I can fit into the size 18 pants perfectly.
  22. I am 10 months out and I occasionally will have a drink here and there. Nothing in excessive amounts either. This weekend I went out with my best friend for girls night and had one beer. It settled fine till I got home then it was bad news bears later. I have noticed since I have lost 140+ pounds that I cannot drink like I used to, it hits me really fast compared to my friends who haven't had this surgery. Depending on what I drink, I do notice some change with the scale but nothing dramatic. I just drink lots of Water. I think letting us have indulgences now and then is okay rather then being super strict all the time. Being strict on yourself is stressful, I have found this out.
  23. I have to say growing up the nickname in grade school and middle school was "fatty" then in changed in High School to "Sexy Lexy" to this day I am perplexed why they gave me that name. In elementary and middle school the name calling got to me then I grew a pair magically and in high school I took no sh*t from nobody. The "sexy lexy" nickname was only in band, and was given to me from band camp. Like I said it puzzles me.

    So disheartened and defeated.

Hi there! So your situation kinda reminds me of mine. I lost not 85 prior to the sleeve but I lost about 35 which is a big leap from where I started at 397. I am a slow loser. Where you are at right now your body is fighting to keep the weight on, because you where big for a period of time (I don't know your story but for me I was 397 for years) your body is used to all that insulation when you dramatically change it your body is going to fight you. I stalled out about two months out and didn't loose any weight for about a good month. Then BAM! the weight started to fall off of me. I would keep doing what you are doing, try to increase your calories to 1,000 instead of sticking around 600. I am nine months out and I still struggle with the whole making the daily calorie intake. Your doing great, keep your head up and you will get through this! It just take some time.

    Depression after surgery?

Hi Lizzy, I am young like you are and had the sleeve (just a tad older). Anyways our bodies are going through a lot and at this time when we start to loose weight our fat cells release a lot of estrogen and hormones that it has been holding onto for years. I thought I was going bat shit crazy when I was three months out. I would cry for no reason, and get really angry real fast. I am now getting those depressed feelings, and it is completely normal to have them. I would seek some help from your medical team or better yet see a therapist about it. One way I channel my issues and what is going through my head is talking with my friends, family, and peers. With that I also started a blog to document my journey. I can tell you that has helps lot, because it gets those thoughts out of my head and holds me accountable for my actions. This shall pass soon, just remember don't give up! Best of luck!
