Hi,
My name is Kellene and I am 46 years old!
I am from Southwest Louisiana, but have lived in Central Kentucky for about 20 years now! My roots are and will ALWAYS be "a Louisiana Girl", Geaux Tigers!
I have spent the better part of 35 years overweight. I have been on every diet imaginable with success at times, but never lasting success!
In 2009, I went on a low carb diet and lost 70# and had finally reached my lowest weight in years, 230#! However, it wasn't too long and I saw my life change and the way I was eating until I had not only gained the 70# back, but I also gained an additional 59# to put me at my highest weight ever of 359# on my small-boned, 5' 2" frame! I was miserable!!!
I had discussed gastric bypass surgery with my husband prior to starting my low carb diet in 2009, but after discussing it with him and my mother, I backed out. My mom was scared to death for me to have the surgery. We had a friend whose sis-in-law almost died from the surgery. So I opted to try one more time on my own. Well...as I stated before, I was successful for just a little while!
Once again, I found myself gaining all the weight back plus the additional 59# and I had just had all I could take! I hurt everywhere, I had sleep apnea and was now on the verge of diabetes!
In July 2011, I went to my first seminar and I knew right then and there that there was no turning back! I gave my insurance information to the staff that night and they made the necessary contact and found out all of the particulars and what I needed to do to be approved. My insurance, BC/BS required a 6 month period of weight loss and education provided by the surgeons office and a nurse care worker through my insurance. I worked that program wholeheartedly and did everything that I was told! SUCCESS! In January, I was approved for my surgery and on February 14, 2012, I gave myself the BEST valentine gift I have EVER received, Gastric Bypass Surgery!!!
From the 6 weeks prior to the surgery when I was on the liver-shrinking diet to the 2 day liquid pre-op diet, I was completely obedient to my surgeon and his requirements for a successful surgery and I am so very glad I did!
Today, exactly 23 months out, I have lost an amazing 211 pounds! My surgeon is amazed! His goal for me was to weigh 208 pounds. My nutritionist wanted me to get to 180 pounds but my personal goal was 150 pounds and I have now surpasses that! I have NEVER knowingly eaten or had anything to drink that I am not supposed to! I believe that if you do your part, your tool, pouch, will do its part!!!
I have gone from wearing a size 30/32 skirt and a 5X shirt to a size 10 skirt, medium shirts and medium dresses! Even my feet are smaller, lol! I did wear a 9.5 but now I wear an 8.5!
If you will educate yourself and do everything you know to do, you will have nothing but success!!! My journey has been TOTALLY problem free! Thanks for reading and good luck to all of you!
